Ashlyn and the Beast - Part 3

Fairytale AU

Completely unaware of the troll mob Ashlyn and Archer are enjoying each other's company. The yellow skinned troll is reading a new book that Archer had gave her a few moments ago. He found it somewhere in the house and thought she would like it. The troll sits on the couch as Archer sat on the other end. He watches her silently admiring her beauty.

' Should I just imply it or straight out tell her? No,she might find it werid or might not like me anymore... but, what if -...', Archer thought conflicted.

The beast shakes his head silently trying to rid his mind of his thoughts. A few hours later Ashlyn is still reading on the couch minding her own business. Archer had left for another one of his trips. He had told her before he left that he should be back by night time. The troll finally decides to pull her attention away towards the door. The room is now darker and it is almost night. Archer isn't back yet.

She wondered where he had went. Archer never really talked much about his trips with her. She is honestly curious about where he goes. Somerimes he would just disappear and come back with nothing but, that was rare. The troll slowly and quietly closes her book then puts it down on the couch. Then she simply walks out of the house into the garden leaving the door open.

The sky was still setting and some stars had made themselves known. The garden looked breath taking beautiful in that moment. Ashlyn admired it with a sweet smile on her face. Archer's garden is indeed the most beautiful garden she ever seen and visited. A part of her wondered how did he get such a garden. Did he grow it all by himself or did he found it like this and just kept caring for it?

The female troll explores the garden simply enjoying it til she noticed the secret area. It wasn't much of secret but, still Archer was still a little protective of it. Without thinking she just straight out goes into the private area. It was more beautiful just like the rest of the garden but, there was a magical feeling that came with it. The lively roses sparkled and few actually began to glow. Something about the glow alluring.

It was almost like the flowers are calling out to her. The glow seemed to fade then come back brighter enchantedly. Ashlyn couldn't deny the call so her feet takes her closer towards the bush. Then when she was close enough to touch her hand reached out to one of the glowing roses but, last second she stopped and pulled her hand away. Ashlyn couldn't and knew that she should. As if the troll just broke out of an trance she goes back several steps. She shakes her head at her actions as she wonders why she almost did it.

" What are you doing?", Archer's voice asks suddenly.

Ashlyn froze in that moment at the sound of his voice. It wasn't cold or scary or loud. It was more calm and confused. That's when Ashlyn noticed it was already and officially night as she turned around to see Archer. He still had his cloak on with his hood up as he stood at the entrance the private area. Archer removes his hood pulling it back with the most calm expression Ashlyn ever saw him have.

" When did you come back?", Ashlyn asks.

" A few minutes ago and you didn't answer my question. ", Archer replies calmly.

He wasn't angry like when they first met. The beastly creature just wanted to know what she was doing. Ashlyn only came here once before so it is understandable why he has questions. Archer trusts her enough to not assume the worst. Ashlyn bites her lower lip unsure what to say. She didn't know she was doing either.

Archer walks over to her silently waiting for the answer but, Ashlyn still said nothing. He wondered why she wasn't talking but, then he remembers something about the roses that happens at night. The glowing roses could put someone into a trance but, they had to be special to be called by magical roses. Archer looks at the roses than back at Ashlyn.

The next morning, Ashlyn was just laying on her back on her neatly made bed. She simply stared up at the ceiling. The troll thinks about what could be happening at in the village. Ashlyn actually was starting to miss the village but, that didn't mean she didn't like staying here with Archer.

Then Ashlyn heard a knock on open her bedroom door. She slowly sits up to see Archer at the door. Something about him seemed different. His appearence hadn't changed at all but, the way he was looking at her. Archer clears his throat while feeling nervous in that moment. Ashlyn didn't know why he was suddenly acting so awkwardly.

" H - Hey Ashlyn... I was wondering if you would like to come out with tonight on one of my trips...", Archer says awkwardly and nervously.

The troll was surprised that he was actually inviting her. Archer before had said that he liked going by himself on those trips of his that ' she didn't need worry about ' but, this is a first. Ashlyn smiles at him seeing no harm in tagging along. She does wonder where he goes and it could be fun. Archer's heart is racing as he waits for her answer. He didn't expect her to say " Yes" but, he didn't want to hear " No" either.

" Sure, Archer, but why?", Ashlyn says honestly.

" Oh it's nothing... I just thought you might like to go out for once instead of being stuck here... ", Archer answers awkwardly and honestly.

When we know something is true
Beyond question or doubt
There's no particular point
In pointing it out

Soon it was night and time to go. Archer puts on his cloak as he waits for Ashlyn to be ready. He began to having doubts about whether this whole thing was a good idea or not but, Ashlyn seemed happy about this so he isn't going to back out now. Archer steps outside the house leaving the door open. The moonlight shines on him,The house and the garden like a spotlight.

Blue is the color of sky
'Cause mothers all worry
And old people die
A phone rings, a bee stings
It's something you don't need to hear
It's just clear

Then the troll he was waiting for comes out of the house. She had changed her clothes. Archer's eyes immediately landed on her leaving him unable to speak. She is wearing a beautiful green dress with short asymmetrical skirt and illusion. Her hair is brushed neatly and braided going down her down back. There was also satchel that Archer had given her to use along with her own purple cloak which had found in her closet. Ashlyn was breath taking beautiful in the moonlight.

Why go stating the obvious?
It's so painfully obvious
How could you miss
Something that's this plain to see?
When it's glaring, and staring
Right at you
So obviously

Ashlyn gently takes her braid and moves it over her shoulder. Archer watched still lovestruck for a moment. His heart is fluttering in his chest. Then he snaps out of it when she turns her head slightly to him and smiles. The cursed being puts up his hood and looks away. He tries to stop blushing and to shrug it all off.

When you get bored you draw stars
On the cuffs of your jeans
You still fill out the quizzes you find
In those teen magazines
And you dance like nobody's there
Awkward and perfect
You don't even care
Something courageous, amazing, contagious
And kind
All combined

They walk together into the forest slowly and calmly. Archer leads Ashlyn through his clear shortcut. The path had no thorns or rocks or anything to trip them. The moonlight lit the path for the two travelers. Archer's eyes would look back at the beautiful troll every now and then as his lips formed a small smile. Ashlyn eyes were more fixed on the beauty of the forest. The environment around them looked so enchantedly beautiful.

Why go stating the obvious?
It's so painfully obvious
How could you miss
Something that's this plain to see?
When it's glaring, and staring
Right at you
So obviously

When they reached and entered a large magical market Ashlyn unknowingly took hold of Archer's hand. Archer's eyes immediately moved down to look at her hand but, instead of removing of it he smiled and held her hand back gently. Not wanting to ruin anything Archer said nothing as they continued to walk around.

Sometimes the words
We tend to withhold
But they're exactly the words
Someone needs to be told
But oh, thinking they know

After an hour of buying and looking around Ashlyn notices an near by open area. Couples and single people of all kinds of creatures were dancing. Some were even dancing all by themselves while everyone else informally waltzed. Then Archer turned around and noticed how she was watching others dance. She hadn't been dancing in a long while and Archer knew this.

We never say "I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you"

" Wanna dance?", Archer asks softly.

Ashlyn turns to him surprised as he offers her his hand. She could tell under that hood of his he was smiling lovingly at her. Her heart flatters a little in that moment as she simply smiled lovingly back and took accepted his hand. They both gazed into each other's eyes as it happened. Something had definitely changed between them but, neither dared to state it out.

'Cause why go
Stating the obvious
It's so painfully obvious
How could you miss
Something that's this plain to see?
When it's glaring, and staring right at you
So obviously

The two walk together still holding each other's hand as they joined the small crowd. Ashlyn puts her free hand on his shoulder with finger tips just reaching it as Archer put his other hand on side holding her gently. Their gaze remained fixed on each other as they danced under the moonlight. The moment felt so perfect neither of them dared to break the moment by talking. Nothing was needed to be said. Well not right now anyway.

Soon the night turned into day once again. Archer and Ashlyn are home enjoying each other's company as they talk over breakfast at the table. They both laugh over one of their little inside jokes. Archer's tail moves back and forth happily and slowly behind him.

" You know your a really good dancer for a guy who doesn't dance. ", Ashlyn complements.

" Thanks... You were better than I thought you would be. ", Archer admits.

Ashlyn thanked Archer feeling flattered by his reponse. She honestly never thought she would enjoying his company this much but, that didn't matter. Ashlyn just wanted to spend more time with him like they did last night.

" I know this is a touchy subject for you but, still wonder about it... ", Ashlyn says honestly and softly.

Archer's tailed stopped moving once he caught on. He knew what she was talking about before she could even ask. Their eyes locked in that moment. He frowned softly as Ashlyn did her best to not be bothersome  with her words while she spoke. The last thing she wanted to do is offend Archer. Soon Ashlyn finally asked her biggest question.

" Why were you cursed?", Ashlyn asks curiously and caringly.

Archer let's out a heavy sigh as the memories came back. As bad as they were they didn't make him feel angry or very upset. This time he felt differently about telling the story. Archer now wanted to tell Ashlyn despite how he knew he wasn't going to enjoy telling it.

" It was years ago back when I was fourteen... My older brother,Bash, convinced me and his friends that we should run and we did. At first it was fun crashing parties and doing whatever we wanted but, after a while I started missing home. When Bash found out he started being a big jerk about it and everyone else just did the same.

Then one day we came across a Trairy's castle. I didn't want to help them rob it but, I had no choice... when we got caught they all ran off leaving me behind while I was trapped and as a result a spell that was meant for Bash accidentally hit me... The Trairy must had felt sorry for me since she turned my curse into one that could be broken but, I still can't figure it out... ", Archer says heavily and unhappily softly.

Ashlyn's heart felt like it broke as Archer told her the truth. He was taken advantage of and they all abandoned him. He didn't deserve all that pain. She now understood why he was once so upset and protective before. Then Ashlyn remembered the picture frame.

" So that picture I found was of you and your - ", Ashlyn says softly.

Archer just nodded his head in reponse before she could finish her sentence. Telling the story actually made Archer's feel a little better but, still it was hard for him. He had the worst big brother in the world. Ashlyn frowns as she noticed how fast Archer replies. Then without needing a second to think Ashlyn decided to make him feel better so she got up and hugged him.

Later to that night, Ashlyn is on the balcony of top floor of the large house. It was completely empty massive room. She gazed at the view before her waiting for Archer to join. He said he would but, he had finish one of his tasks first. Everything was calm and peaceful but, little did Ashlyn know that it wasn't going to stay that way...

Within a few minutes Archer came up and walked over to her. He smiles happily as he puts an hand on her shoulder. Ashlyn simply welcomed the action as they remained quiet but, then Archer noticed something in the distance coming towards their location. It seemed to be like some kind of bright light or group.

" Are you seeing this too?", Archer says pointing at the mob of trolls.

The troll turns her head to her beast confused then looked at the direction he was pointing to. Her eyes widen when she recognized the mob approaching them fast! It was her village! They had weapons and seemed angry and ready for battle! Fear filled Ashlyn as Archer becomes worried realizing what is going on. Their voices had it clear that they are here to rescue Ashlyn and take her away from him.

" What are you? Some kind of princess?!", Archer says shocked and not pleased.

" What?! No! There must had been some misunderstanding...", Ashlyn replies shocked and worried.

In a matter of minutes that felt like seconds the mob attacked! Ashlyn had convinced Archer to try to escape while she dealed with this extreme mess. Poppy and Branch didn't even see Ashlyn til she made herself known immediately. She had ran out of the house as she makes her voice loud enough to be heard.

" What are you all doing?! Are you crazy?", Ashlyn yells upset.

Poppy turned to Ashlyn while the rest of the trolls didn't seem to hear her voice. Branch spots Archer trying to escape but, he wasn't going to allow it! The yellow trolls eyes widen as she sees Branch quickly prepare to fire an arrow at her beast! The blue troll is farer within the garden by himself but, she immediately ran towards him faster than lighting! Then Ashlyn grabs and pulls the weapon but, not in time. The arrow had been larunched and missed Archer luckily but, that wasn't the end of the drama.

Branch glared at Ashlyn but, she didn't care. Ashlyn still had the crossbow in her hands. She still couldn't believe that everything scolated like this but, there is no time for her take it all fully in. Ashlyn needed to stop this whole situation! They needed to know the truth and to understand or else she will lose Archer!

" What are you doing? I was getting rid of that beast holding you captive for good! ", Branch barks seriously.

" You don't understand! He's just cursed to be a beast and had nobody to help him! ", Ashlyn reasons.

Suddenly and unknowingly to Ashlyn and Branch Guy lost control of his crossbow! It for had two arrows caught in it but, then fired both into different directions! Archer saw this! Something within him woke up and it refused to ran away. Archer jumps from the lowest tree branch towards Ashlyn and he pushed her out of the way of the deadly fast arrow! The arrow went into Archer's body instead of Ashlyn in that brief moment!

Ashlyn lands near a tree rolling for a few seconds while Archer hit the ground hard! The combined impact of the arrow and the force of being laurnched took an heavy and immediate toll on him! The magical roses immediately started dying faster one by one in seconds like ticking clock. The petals fall to the ground. Archer is running out of time...

Now there is no noise. Everyone was silent. Even the wind and the critters didn't dare to make a sound. Branch's eyes locked on Archer's non - moving body still shocked by had just happened. Ashlyn slowly got up but, then she saw Archer! Her heart stopped beating for a second then picked up very fast with fear as she ran to his side.

" Archer!", Ashlyn yells scared.

The troll gets down on both knees next to the wounded one's side. Tears began to fill her eyes when she saw the arrow. Ashlyn takes a hold of it and pulls it earning groans of pain from Archer. His eyes lids are getting heavier by the second like they are threatening to close. He could barely move without feeling some kind of pain.

" Please! Stay with me! Someone here could help you. Please!... I love you...",Ashlyn begs worried and scared.

Archer weakly smiles at her as he cups the side of her face. Ashlyn looks down at his face with her tears running down her face. Archer had only one thing to say. Something that he has feeling ever since he found himself falling for her. If Archer didn't say it now he would never get the chance again.

" I love you too...", Archer says softly and weakly.

Then his eyes sealed shut as the rest of his body released his final breath. Archer's hand and arm came onto ground lifeless. Ashlyn's heart breaks as she saw it all happen before her eyes. Archer was dead... More tears broke out as Ashlyn started crying even more from grief.

The villagers slowly and quietly came over to see what was going on. They remained silent when they saw Ashlyn crying for the beast. The guilt dawned on them as realized what had happened. The villagers remained a distance away from the scene not wanting cause more damage then they already did. Dawn arrived as Ashlyn contuined to cry but, little did everyone know that something magical was going to happen before their eyes.

The light from the sun lands on the last to die magical rose. It was dead but, yet it was sparkling. Suddenly the whole bush lit up causing Archer's dead body to do same! Ashlyn and the other trolls are taken back by. Ashlyn gasped as she backed up little not understanding what is going on. The sparkles and lights got brighter as the sun raises. Soon it was so bright that everyone had to close their eyes and look away as the magic explode across the area!

Then finally the magic disappeared but, some was still lingering around Archer. His body changed into his old and more handsome self. He was still a little taller than the trolls since he wasn't a teenager anymore. Archer's clothes is torn partly and his deadly wound is completely healed. The curse was broken...

The lizard like creature opened his eyes as he slowly tried to get up. He felt different but, didn't know why. Archer was confused as he looked around them. The villagers are just staring at him in awe. Some of them whispered and gasped as they looked at him. Still confused Archer turned around to Ashlyn. Then suddenly she tackled him to the ground while hugging him. She has happy tears running down her face.

" Woah!", Archer exclaims taken off guard.

A couple of trolls laughed amused by them. Then as Archer was just about to say something Ashlyn put her lips against his lips. That one action shut him up easily and made him close his eyes. Random troll even said " Ooooooo!" or "Aweeeee!" adoring the little show of affection as Archer wrapped his arms around Ashlyn and kissed back.

AN: A Request by Chipmunklover16. Sorry this took way longer to write. I had inspiration. Just had some trouble staying focused or something came up. The song used is " Obvious" by Talyor Trensch which I don't own! I also don't own the OC Ashlyn who belongs to Chipmunklover16!
