Villain: Chapter Seven Losses and Gains

I ran, crying. Everyone I loved was dead. I ran for I think 7 to 8 hours before I collapsed in exaustion. I closed my eyes and let sleep take over.

Everyone that was killed by the Predator Prey was here. Father, my brothers, my sister, Edina, and Darkfeather. I cried in happiness. I ran to them. But when I began to move, Farshar appeared in front of me.
"Never again," he said. He slashed at them all, and they all careened backward and fell on the ground, dead, with pools of blood underneath them.
"No!" I yelled. I ran at him, but the scenery changed. I was on a cliff, with hard ground below. I couldn't stop running, but then I ran off the side. I fell, downward and more, until the ground zoomed to my face.

I woke up panting. I heard small whimpers, but I myself was silent. I looked around, until I looked down. There was a wolf pup, a golden brown wolf pup, with silvery blue eyes looking up at me.

"Have you seen my mum?" The little pup asked, "She told me she would be right back." I looked at her.

"I'm sorry, I haven't. What does your mom look like?" I told her.

"She looks like me, but her eyes are green. She always told me I was special." I felt so bad for this little wolf.

"Tell you what, how about we go look for her?" I said.

"Yay! Yes yes yes!" She yipped with joy. I smiled.

"Which direction did she go?" I asked her.

"Um thataway!" She pointed with her minuscule black nose about northeast. I nodded, and we walked forward. After a few hours, the little pup was riding on my back. I sniffed around. This pup looks like she was just recently weaned, so her mother should still have the scent of milk. I followed that scent for a long time, until we came to a cave. The smell went inside.

"I think your mom went inside there," I told the pup. She wagged her little tail, and ran inside. I followed her. It stank inside. It smelled like death, which I knew all too well.

"Where is she?" She yipped. I sniffed around, but then I smelled something I hoped was a mistake. The scent of milk and wolf entangled with the death scent.

"Stay here," I told the pup. She sat down, and let her tongue come out of her mouth to pant. I followed the scent until I saw the origin. The corpse of a golden brown wolf. I opened the dead wolf's eyes. They were green. The pup trotted beside me. "What are you doing here?" I said.

"Is that my mum? Is she sleeping?" She asked me. My heart broke and crumbled into two.

"In a way. But, she will be sleeping for a very, very long time..." I told her,"What is your name?"

"My name is Lily. Wait, is it like the bears? Is she going to wake up after winter? But it's not winter." Lily said.

"Lily, I'm so sorry. But, it looks like your mother is dead..." I told her. I felt so bad for her. She was only so young.

Lily's POV
"Lily, I'm so sorry. But, it looks like your mother is dead..." The wolf that was helping me said. I attempted to comprehend that idea. Mum always told me that death is a part of life. She has told me about it before, like with the subject of my dad. "Death" doesn't sound like a nice word. I didn't know what to do.

"Oh!" I yipped. My dad was never around anyways, so death seemed normal. But, mum said that if the word death is used on someone, then they will not come back. I can't imagine mum not coming back.

"I'm so sorry. If I could do something to help, I would." Said the wolf.

"Does this mean that mum isn't coming back?" I asked. The wolf nodded sadly. "But where am I going to get food? Where am I going to sleep? Who is going to be my mum?" I began to cry. The bigger wolf shushed me, and spoke to me in a gentle voice. I cried, because death seems to big. How could it happen, and how did my mum get "death"?
"How did my mum find death?" I asked the wolf.

"She looks like she died quick, no pain. I'm betting that when she breathed last, she loved you." Said the bigger wolf. I cried more, and more. It was a long while until I cried and darkness took over me.

Mist's POV
Lily fell asleep crying, and I thought about what to do. I couldn't just leave her behind, her mom was dead. I related to the little pup, because all she had known, the wolf who gave her milk and meat was dead. I knew what to do, even if it was stupid as all hell. I picked Lily up carefully by the scruff of her neck, and traveled home. I was surprised on how long she stayed asleep. I set her down on a guest bed, and prayed that the Predator Prey leave me alone.
