The Fall-New International Version

The top video is about Adam's first wife Lilith. She's not in these translations I have talked about. She is in Jewish and Islam folklore. In this after Lilith left the garden and turned her back on God, Adam felt lonely, so God created another woman for her. Lilith was demonized and because of this she transformed into a snake, and she was the one that convinced Eve to eat the fruit. Both Protestant and Catholics rejected her.

Verse 1

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"

My thoughts: First of all, it should be craftier. Not more crafty. Secondly, it admits that the Lord God also created the Serpent so shouldn't he have known what was going to happen? Why did He put the serpent in the Garden of Eden where he could tempted his favorite creations? And thirdly, No God didn't tell the woman 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'? God told Adam before he even created Eve. This bothers me.  I personally believe that the snake was Lilith and not Lucifer/Satan. I don't believe in Satan.  God created the serpent to be crafty in the first place. Not a good father putting the serpent in the garden with his "favorite" creation.

Verses 2 and 3

The Woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it or you will surely die.'"

My thoughts: Again, He didn't tell her that. He told the man. The man probably told the woman, but God didn't directly told Eve anything.

Verses 4 and 5

"You will not certainly die," the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

My thoughts: The serpent is about honesty. He's not lying to Eve. God and Adam have already done that. More reason why I think the serpent was Lilith and not Satan.

Verses 6 and 7

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some of it and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

My thoughts: Knowledge is power, and God doesn't like that. Christians demonized Eve for being "gullible" and listening to the serpent, but I don't believe she was. She was a strong woman just like Lilith was and the serpent was being honest with her of what will happened. God doesn't want either Adam or Eve to know anything. Christians today have gotten upset with people who have deconstruct or are deconstructing the bible because they don't want us to know the truth. This is me deconstructing the Bible right now and sharing you, my thoughts. You can believe what you want but I don't believe Eve was trying to be rebellious.

Verses 8, 9, 10

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so, I hid."

My thoughts: I do find it annoying how it keeps saying "LORD God." Just say "God." And apparently God walked the earth back then.

Verses 11, 12, 13

And he said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"

The man said, "The woman you put here with me--she gave me some fruit from the tree, I ate it." Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?

The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

My thoughts: Of course, throw the woman under the bus. It's all her fault. This is the first and only time God showed himself to Eve. Why is that? Also because of this story, men in history used it to say that women are easy to manipulate.

Verses 14 and 15 (Snake's punishment)

So, the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly, and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

My thoughts: Even though creationists claim they don't believe in Evolution; this is exactly how the snake changed into the snake we know them as.

Here's something that Christians don't want to believe in. We are primates. We came from primates. So, it makes sense that snakes and humans are enemies Snakes and Primates have always been enemies.

Verse 16 (Eve's punishment)

To the woman he said,

"I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. You desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

My thoughts: This was written by a man and if it really was written by Moses, he really had a messed-up view about women. It all goes back to Eve. The reason why women have their monthly bleed and while childbirth is painful. They want you to believe that it's a punishment from God for the original sin centuries and centuries again that has nothing to do with you. And from the very beginning women are design to desire a husband and her husband will rule over her. This is an example of Patriarchy and the reason why women have been fighting for their rights so they can be independent.  I am a woman, and this is something I have a problem with. Not all women want children, and not all women wants to get married. This is putting women down to only that when women are much more than that. Women don't need a man. Also, some women are not even interested in men. There are women that desire other women and Christians tend to use this to show that God only wants a man and a woman to be married. They would chant it's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. That is very homophobic.

Verses 17-19 (Adam's punishment)

To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it.'

"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your bow, you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for you dust you are and to dust you will return."

My thoughts: Adam's curse was even longer than what he said to either the serpent or Eve. But it's basically just he has to work the field and then he will return to dust from where he came from.  He will eventually die. I find it funny that he didn't tell the woman this in her curse. Just that she will be in pain while given birth and that her husband will rule over her. But at the same time Adam has it easy with his curse. Still even though now they will die eventually, they still "Lived" a Frikken long time. No one at this time would have lived that long. That is literally all myth. And it contradicts history too. Also, maybe this is the reason why men never listen. Eating the fruit to know the difference between right from wrong isn't the worst thing you could do. Apparently having knowledge is a sin. You can't know things like God. You have to stay ignorant and follow blindly with your faith.

Verse 20

Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living,

My thoughts: So now Eve has a name in this story and Adam named her. God named Adam and Adam named Eve. Also, what really bothers me is that if she is supposed to be the mother of all of us then how come they only had 3 sons? And what about the wives if they are the only people at the time? There are a lot of inconsistencies.

What I learned from Sociology is that race is just a construct. We were the ones who put people in boxes by their skin color so us being in one race, the human race does make sense to me. We all originally from Africa. We all had dark skin but over time as we went up and "scattered" the earth our levels of melon changes and so does our DNA.  I'm glad he mentioned science in this video.

Verses 21-24

The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever. So, the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
