The Creation of the World-English Standard version 2016
This translation will be exact English to how we speak. I hope you notices key differences to these translations.
Verses 1 and 2
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
My thoughts: I do love how this one starts. Kind of painted a picture in your head to how the earth is supposed to look like as God begins to work His magic and start his new creation.

In this video it says that the stars are inside and not outside. It doesn't believe in Outer Space even though astronauts have gone to space and landed on the moon and saw all these stars. It is also telling us that the sun and the moon are actually a lot closer than what we are taught to believe. Apparently, the Bible tells us that the sun and moon rotates around the earth and the earth doesn't move. This is literally factionally inaccurate. The Bible is an ancient book that have been translated over thousands of years so the people that wrote down this book didn't learn any better. It was proven how the earth is the one that rotates around the sun and moon. Not the other way around how they used to believe. People that still believe this way are behind with the times. The creationist believe we live in a dome and it's not a globe; it's a circle. It's fine if you believe this but don't try to claim that NASA lied since the beginning and yet your story about the creation of the world doesn't have any physical evidence. NASA televised the moon landing in the 1960s. It actually did happen.
Verses 3, 4, and 5
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
My thoughts: So far this translation is my favorite because it is how we normally write when we are writing a book. There are quotes to what God is saying, periods at the end of sentences, and appropriate capitalization on names like Day and Night not just God. With these mistakes not happening, I could believe that this is the word of God. That doesn't believe I believe that this is actually coming from "God" but it is how I would think God would want His book written.

Verses 6, 7, 8
And God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
My thoughts: The creation of Heaven

I like how this guy explains the creation story in this video. Thinking that before Heaven there were a secret realm where God was. That is interesting to think about and add something to the story. He probably created the angels when he created Heaven like how he created mankind on earth. I do like listening to all creation stories and wonder how the universe first existed. That is the big question and every culture does it.
Verses 9 and 10
And God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it good.
My thoughts: This makes me think of Pangea. Maybe if God really created the Heavens and the Earth, maybe he also created the lands to join together in one supercontinent and the rest of the earth is surrounded by water.

Verses 11, 12, and 13
And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

Verses 14-18
And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so. And God made the two great lights-the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night-and the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
My thoughts: So, I feel like this would be the first "official" day on the calendar since this is when God separated the day and night.
Verses 20-23
And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens." So, God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

Verses 24 and 25
And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds--livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds. "And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

This contradicts what this verse said, "everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind." Snakes didn't start out that way.
side note: I love snakes, and, in the Bible, they are depicted as evil. But on January 29, 2025, was the Lunar new year and it's the year of the snake. Here is what the snake represents in Chinese culture.

I do prefer what the Chinese think of the Snake instead of how it's depicted in the Bible.
Verse 26
Then God said, "Let us make men in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
My thoughts: When I read that verse, I think of all these people popping up on the face of the earth. That would make sense then later when He decides to create Adam and Eve. Seems like a contradiction to me and how are they supposed to populate the earth with just one couple? If they just left it with creating mankind, then that would make sense.

These were the first "mankind". Scientific and historical fact. It'll make more sense for the Bible to be accurate if God had created the Cavemen and all those ancestors leading up to Homo Sapiens (Us).
Verse 27
So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
My thoughts: This is just a continuation from verse 26. I don't know it's a new verse. The Bible likes to repeat things.

Mankind started in the middle east so out of God's image, the people in the Bible would all look Middle Eastern. This is only part 1 of 5. I will see if I will include the other 4 parts later in this. Where Geneses started is the Bronze Age. The whole book of Geneses covers the Bronze age but there was an age before that called the Stone age and that is where there were the Paolithic and Neolithic people. The Bible conveniently left out.
Verses 28-31
And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with see in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
My thoughts: It is very important to God to be fruitful and multiply. All these animals have to have children to full fill the earth. He had mentioned that he creates mankind, and they need to also be fruitful and multiple. From that last video I had shown it all started in the middle East and there were a lot of people appearing then just 2 that we will see in the next chapter. Telling a group of people, men and women to be fruitful and multiply would make more sense than only starting with one man and one woman. That would populate the earth faster. But the people who wrote down the Bible didn't think of what would make sense. Instead, the Bible is filled with inconsistences.
