The Beginning-New International Version
A/N: I will copy a translation from the bible and then have my thoughts on it. I might talk about different translations throughout the Bible and the Torah. I am not an export, and I try to keep an open mind. Here are just my thoughts, opinions, and viewpoints and I don't mean any offense. I will break down verse by verse. You can continue to believe in whatever you believe in. That is ok.
Verse 1 and 2
https://youtu.be/nQWFzMvCfLE
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

My thoughts: Wow that sounds amazing. A lot of asshole Atheist would say "Then who created God." My ex being one of them and while I do agree with that statement, I do find it being rude. I would never say that to any one because I know that would offend them.
Verses 3,4, 5
https://youtu.be/fEwDx8YJndU
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. "God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day", and the darkness he called "Night." And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day.

My thoughts: So, God created the light and the darkness on the first day. This is probably the most memorized verses of the bible. I want to dissect each day we see here in this chapter. I have to admit I do like listening to Worship songs and I sang along to them when I went to church or go to my boyfriend's church. I heard a lot of these songs when I was involved with College Christian clubs like InterVarsity at Salem State and tried to be in the Christian Fellowship at Worcester State University. These songs about God's love are beautiful and I do love singing along to them because I just love music anyways. Bu as I dive deeper in what I am reading now, my attitude towards some of these songs' changes. I still like listening to them, but they don't add up to what I am actually read. I have never read the bible before, just followed a long at church or at those clubs and just understand their interpretation of that particular passage without really thinking about what I feel about this or to read the whole book by its beginning. The reason why I am now is because I had bought a book at Five below. It's a yearlong bible study book and it has me to read a few chapters a day. With what they say about those readings and writing prompts. Of course, what I am doing it'll be longer than a year going through this because I do want to fully understand every word I am reading. I don't understand why God needs all this praise though.
Verses 6,7,8
And God said, "Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water." So, God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so, God called the vault "sky". And there was evening, and there was morning-the second day.
https://youtu.be/vsypFJ5mNw0
My thoughts: That's the second day. So, this Vault is the sky? Both the sky and the ocean are blue, so I guess by this they were from the same thing.
Verses 9 and 10
And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear." And it was so. God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "Seas." And God saw it was good.

My thoughts: That does sound good, but I don't believe that is how it happened. Creationists wants to believe that God was the one that created these things. But there have always been seas and lands with no help of divine interventions. All the continuants were together to form a super continuant and then because of tectonic plates, these continuants separated to form continuants we know today. These things took time. Not a slap of a finger. That's a scientific fact.
Verses 11, 12, 13
Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the third day.

My thoughts: Now finally that's the end of the third day. This is a beautiful image these verses created. Above is a video explaining Vegetation.
Verses 14-19
And God said, "Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights -the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the fourth day.
My thoughts: So, he finally decided to officially create day and night on the fourth day? That doesn't make sense to me because I feel like that should be the first thing you create and of course the stars. How could he create anything else he created before this if there is no light?
Verses 20-23
And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky." So, God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." And there was evening, and there was morning-the fifth day.
My thoughts: Now that was the fifth day. On this day he apparently created the great creatures and encourage them to be fruitful and increase. My question here is: Where are the dinosaurs? Those were great creatures, and they were walking the earth millions of years before other animals came. That is a fact.

Verses 24 and 25
And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
My thoughts: What I notice as I am going through this, God likes to constantly repeat himself and that gets annoying. Sometimes boring even.
Verses 26, 27, 28
Then God said, let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
So, God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
My thoughts: At this point now, God decided to make mankind. Which is great and he should stop right there but then he later talks about creating Adam. It would make more sense to just say He created mankind and then go on and say that one of the people he created was Adam. It doesn't make sense to me to say in a few verses above that he creates mankind which means more than one person at once and then a few verses later act like he only created Adam and then Eve and through them they are the ones that populate the earth. That is not how populations happen. When it comes to creation stories, I believe in more of the other mythology creation stories. They are more believable to me.

Geneses is not the only creation story in the world, and it wasn't the first. Many cultures have their own creation story and all should be respected. Don't feel disrespected for someone having a different believe then you. No one is out to get you just because they follow a different belief about the world then you.
Verses 29, 30, 31
Then God Said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give and every plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day.
My thoughts: That's it of the first chapter of Geneses. We made it to the sixth day and there is no mention of Adam and Eve yet. They will be in chapter 2. I feel like they should have been mentioned during the verses when it says God created mankind because obviously there were more people than just two to start the earth. I'll try to update this once a week. It will take me a few days to do a chapter butI want to try to publish each chapter on Sundays. I hope you learn something from how I broke down the verses, my thoughts, and the videos.
