Tamagotchi Connexion Corner Shop 2 (DS)

I got this game because I loved Tamagotchis at the time. I had four on a lanyard on the school bus everyday and I would play with them all the way to school when I wasn't playing the DS Lite I had purchased a couple of months before. So when my Pop said he would take me to JB HI FI to get a new DS game I was really excited  when I saw Tamagotchi Corner Shop 2 on the shelf.

At first I wasn't really sure what to do but I got the hang of it quickly. I found it was quite a cute game, and also quite fun. The characters, the games, the accessories you unlocked... They were all really good. I loved seeing familiar Tamagotchi friends in full colour instead of black and white like on the actual Tamagotchis themselves.

The aim of the game is to upgrade all your shops. The more you upgrade the more you can unlock. There were ones like a cake shop, flower shop, gas station, sushi bar, hospital, concert hall, bowling alley and so on. By upgrading your shops you unlock accessories for your partner in their house. When they aren't helping in the shops they are in a room which you can customize yourself using these accessories.

How do you upgrade shops? You play minigames. A lot of the shops have a minigame where you create what the customer wants, which is shown on the top screen. But there were other ones too, such as the sushi bar where you had to serve multiple customers before they got bored, or the hospital where you had to know what to do to cure the patient.

The graphics and music were good. There was a signature tune for each character (you picked a partner Tamagotchi at the beginning of the game) and I really liked the tunes.

This game is great for kids especially those who like Tamagotchis. Older kids might get a bit bored as it does take some time to upgrade each shop, and you're doing similar things OVER AND OVER AND OVER, but it is fun and you can just quit when you want to, you won't lose your progress.

What I liked: The cute characters and graphics, and even just making your dream Tamagotchi room.

What I didn't like: The lack of things to do, especially after you've fully upgraded all your shops. I rarely get this game out anymore although when I do I usually spend a while on it before I shove it back on the shelf,.

Conclusion:

This is a  very happy game, great for younger kids especially if they like Tamagotchis or just minigames. It is quite easy but still fun. Yes, it does get tiresome at times, and it can be a bit of a pain having to do all that work with so little variety afterwards, but it is still a good game. 7/10.
