Part 7

"You're having a -?"

"You're having a girl?!" Y/S/N beamed. He was getting a little sister! "Look closer, son," Thorin told him and Y/S/N resembled a peacock ruffling his feathers at the endearment from Thorin. You could tell he liked the idea of having a father that cared. Y/S/N peered closer at the sonogram and gasped. "TWINS?! I'm getting two sisters?!"

He looked up at you with tears in his eyes. "I'm gonna be a big brother. I'm going to have two little sisters..." He handed the sonogram back, but Thorin shook his head. "That copy is for you. So you remember what we talked about and know that just because we'll have those two doesn't mean we love you any less or that you'll be a less important part of our lives." Thorin placed his hand on your shoulder and gave it a squeeze.

"Now, I think we've all had enough Hallmark moments for one day. How about I cook us some dinner?" you said, drying your eyes. Dang hormones. Thorin helped you up and the three of you made your way to the kitchen. Y/S/N didn't say much, but sat in thought. He couldn't believe he thought you wouldn't care about him anymore. The two of you had always had a special bond and he should have known nothing could break that.

*time skip*

You groaned as the sun peeked through the curtains. A deep chuckle next to you made you open your eyes and meet the ones of the man you'd come to love. Thorin was wearing a smile as his hand rubbed your ever-expanding belly. "Good morning." You managed a small smile. "Morning." You pressed a kiss to the underside of his jaw when there was a knock at the door.

"Are you guys decent?" You laughed and called for Y/S/N to come in. The door opened and your son entered the room, tray in hand. "Thought I'd make breakfast for you." Thorin helped you sit up, your belly making it more difficult. "Thank you, sweetie."

"You deserve it, Mom. You've been my mom for nearly seventeen years and now you're about to have two more...plus, I was hoping you'd take me back-to-school shopping today." You frowned slightly. You hated back to school shopping, but you knew time was running out. Your son would be going back for his last year of high school only a couple months before your daughters made their appearance. "Alright. Let me eat and shower then we'll go." Y/S/N grinned, kissed your cheek, and ran from the room.

You turned to Thorin who stole a piece of bacon from your plate. "You would deprive your daughters of their bacon?" you quipped and Thorin pouted playfully. "That isn't fair," he replied with a chuckle. He picked up another piece and offered it to you. After taking a bite, you asked Thorin what his plans were. "We only have a couple more months before the girls get here and it gets cold, so Dwalin and I are taking the bikes out for the day."

You'd met Dwalin a couple months before and you loved Thorin's best friend. His attitude reminded you a lot of the grumpy grandfathers people made fun of. While he was gruff and somewhat intimidating, he was actually really sweet and protective. His motorcycle was pretty nice too, just like Thorin's. "Be careful," you told your boyfriend, slowly getting up out of bed.

Later that day, you cursed yourself for letting your son talk you into taking him to the mall for new clothes. You hated the mall anyway. The only thing you really liked was seeing the smile on your boy's face. "Y/S/N, hang on a minute. I need to sit."

"You okay, mom?" You smiled at him and nodded. "I'm fine. It's just a little harder to get around carrying your sisters." Y/S/N sat down on the bench next to you before you heard a voice ask, "Twin girls, huh?" You looked up and saw a woman, around your age, with dark hair and very familiar blue eyes. "Um...yes." She smiled at you. "Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear. I have two boys of my own and I remember being pregnant with both of them. My oldest is about your son's age and my youngest is only a couple years younger."

"That's alright. Y/S/N here is my first and only boy. Then there are these two." You rested your hand on your stomach and felt one of them kick. You smiled. "You are positively glowing. Are you excited?" You nodded. "Oh yes. We all are, although I think their father is the most excited." You and the strange woman sat talking for a few minutes until both your phones started ringing.

"Excuse me." You glanced at your phone and quickly answered it. Dwalin's thickly accented voice came over the line. "Y/N? Ya need ta get ta the hospital right now. Thorin crashed his bike. He wants ta see ya." You nodded before you remembered that he couldn't see you. After you hung up, you looked back at the woman. "I'm sorry, but I have to go." She nodded. "Me too."

You were really worried about Thorin as you and Y/S/N made your way back to your car. "Mom, give me the keys. I'll drive." You didn't even argue. Y/S/N drove as quickly as possible to the hospital. To your surprise, the young woman from the mall was pulling in at the same time. You made your way to the front desk with her at your side. Once there, you both opened your mouths and said in unison, "Thorin Durin."

You looked at the woman in surprise. Who was she and why was she looking for your boyfriend? You didn't want to jump to conclusions. Thorin wasn't that kind of man. "Who are you?" you asked her. "I could ask you the same thing." You told her your name and she grinned. "You're Y/N?! I'm Dis. I'm Thorin's sister."

(SURPRISE! Twin girls!! And Dis makes an appearance!)
