Part 2
You shook your head as you changed your mind for the third time about what to wear. You were changing your top again when the doorbell rang. "Crap. Y/S/N, answer that please!" You finally grabbed a (f/c) blouse from the closet and decided it would have to do. You put in on along with a black skirt. After running a brush through your hair once more, you made your way out to the living room. Around the corner, you heard your son talking.
"Mr. Durin...this is gonna sound really weird, but don't hurt her. Mom's been through a lot as I've grown up. I don't want her to get hurt." You wanted to scold him for being rude, but your heart swelled with pride. "Your mother really has raised a fine young man." You rounded the corner. "Thank you, Thorin. I hope you weren't waiting long." Thorin stood up and faced you with a dazzling smile.
He was dressed in nice, black slacks and a blue button up that made his brilliant eyes stand out. Those eyes were roaming your body in appreciation. "You look stunning, Y/N. Shall we?" You nodded before turning to your son. "You know the rules, Y/S/N. Please behave." The boy stopped glaring at Thorin long enough to smile at you. "I know, mom. Now go. Have fun." You kissed his cheek, which he immediately wiped off, causing you and Thorin to laugh. Then, you took the arm Thorin offered and left.
Your date went Thorin was off to a good start as the two of you talked and laughed all the way to the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't very fancy but it wasn't a run-down dive either. It was comfortable with a friendly atmosphere. It made it easy to get to know Thorin better. "So wait, your nephews did that? To the vice principal's daughter?" Thorin nodded sheepishly. "I had to do some serious damage control after that," he said with a hearty laugh. You had to admit you loved the sound of it.
You had just finished dinner and, after a small argument, let Thorin pay when you got a phone call. You walked outside the restaurant, Thorin on your heels. "Hello?" You were confused as to why your son would be calling you. "Hey, mom. Sorry to interrupt but could you come get me? I'm at the hospital." Your eyes widened. "The hospital? Why?" Y/S/N assured you that he was fine, just a few stitches, but the doctors wouldn't let him drive home on his own. You hung up the phone and turned to Thorin.
"I'll take you," he offered, taking your hand and leading you to his car. You sat in silence, the worry for your only child eating away at you, as Thorin drove. You arrived at the hospital in record time and found your son in the lobby. He had bandage around his arm. "What happened?" you practically yelled at him.
"Mom, I'm fine. Really. One of the neighbor kids kicked their ball over the fence and into the bushes in front of that window that I broke last year. Apparently I missed some glass when I clean up because I cut my arm on a piece. I drove myself here and everything." You did your best to keep calm. He was in front of you and he was fine. "Alright. Let's just get you home."
Y/S/N looked at Thorin and his face heated up. Thorin simply smiled at him and the three of you went back to Thorin's car. "We'll come pick up your car in the morning, Y/S/N." He merely nodded. On the way back to your house, Thorin and Y/S/N chatted while you sat in the passenger's seat full of guilt. When you were outside your house, Y/S/N quickly unbuckled and got out. "I'm sorry I ruined your date, mom. Mr. Durin."
Thorin let out a chuckle. "I wouldn't say ruined." You shook your head. "Go inside. I'll be there in a minute." Y/S/N nodded and did what he was told. You climbed out of the car and Thorin followed suit. "I'm sorry about this, Thorin. I was really enjoying myself." He smiled and took your hand in his. You felt your face heat up at the contact. You were actually able to enjoy it this time since you weren't frantic with worry.
"So was I, Y/N." You grinned at him. "Well...the night is young yet. Would you like to come in and watch a movie?" Thorin laughed softly. "I'd love to." He followed you inside and his eyes never left you as you set up the movie. You sat down on the couch next to him and, before you knew it, you were leaning into him and his arm was around your shoulders. Y/S/N watched from the corner of his eye with a smile on his face.
When the movie was over, Thorin reluctantly removed his arm from around you and stood. "I should leave." Nodding sadly, you walked with him to the front door. In the door way, Thorin turned back to you. "Could we do this again sometime? Preferably without the hospital trip?" You giggled and asked, "You really want to? After what happened tonight?" Thorin smirked.
"Absolutely. I wasn't lying when I said I enjoyed myself tonight. I think you are a marvelous person and I'd love to get to know you better." You agreed to another date and Thorin leaned in a kissed your cheek. "I look forward to it. Goodnight." You closed the door. Leaning against it with a content sigh, you noticed your son's eyes on you and cheeky smirk on his face."What?" His smirk deepened, but he shook his head. "Nothing.Goodnight, mom." You pressed your hand to the cheek Thorin had kissed and giggled. You couldn't wait to go out with him again.
