Part 11

The next couple of weeks flew by in a whirlwind. Now, you had get a third set of everything. A third crib, a third changing table, more bottles, diapers. Everything. You were pretty certain Thorin was still in shock for those first few days after your false labor scare. But, as the days went by, you could see him relaxing more and his lips were upturned into a smile more often than not. He was excited. Scared stiff, but excited nonetheless.

He was going to have three bundles of joy...at the same time. In such a short span of time, Thorin's life had been turned on its ear. What had once just been him was now going to be a rather large family. Him, you, and your four beautiful children.

"What are thinking about?" your voice came from behind him. He turned and wrapped his arms around you, kissing your forehead. "Us. The children. Everything. Seeing you and Y/S/N holding them. Just enjoying life as family." You giggled. "That's a pretty picture. And at least we know life will never be boring again." Thorin smirked. "True. Speaking of a pretty picture," he said, reaching into his pocket again and pulling out the familiar velvet box. "You never did answer my question."

Smiling at him, you pressed a kiss to his lips. "Of course I'll marry you, Thorin. There is no one else I'd rather be with." Thorin slipped the beautiful ring on your finger and beamed. "Thank you. I truly am the luckiest man in the world." He kissed you again, more deeply this time. "Am I going to see this every time I walk into a room now?"

Thorin pulled away with a chuckle. You glanced back at your son and saw him smiling too. "Only for a little while longer. When your siblings get here, we'll all be too tired." Y/S/N shrugged. "I was thinking about that. How are you going to manage by yourself while I'm at school and Dad here is at work? Three babies by yourself? Seems like a lot, even for a supermom like you."

"Actually, your mother won't be alone. We've talked about it and, for the first few months, I'll be taking a sabbatical and looking for a job with the nearby university. Plus, your aunt Dis will help when she can. My sabbatical begins when your mother goes into labor. That should give me a couple weeks to get everything in order."

"Maybe not, Thorin," you whispered. His eyes swung to you. "Pretty sure it's for real this time." Thorin's eyes traveled to the floor. Yep, your water had definitely broken. This time, Thorin was prepared. Your bag was still in the car from the last time. He tossed Y/S/N the keys and helped you to the car.

*short time skip*

As Thorin had suspected, throughout your entire labor and delivery, your cursed his name. Telling him that it was all his fault, but he knew it wasn't really you talking. He let it roll off his shoulders as you brought your children into the world. His children. First one girl. Esme. Then another. Peggy. Then, Thorin waited with bated breath as your third child was born.

"There she is." Thorin's blue eyes filled with tears at the sight of little Amber. At the sight of all his very small daughters. All three girls. His three tiny princesses. The doctor placed Amber, the smallest of the three, on your chest while the nurse handed Esme to Thorin. "They all appear to be in perfect health. Just the same, we'd like to keep them here for a couple of days, simply because they are so small. If nothing goes wrong, you should be able to leave in a couple of days. Congratulations," the doctor said, leaving the nurse to help get you cleaned up before taking the girls to the nursery.

Thorin kissed your sweat-slicked forehead. "Thank you, Y/N. Thank you so much." You gave him a sleepy smile. "No, Thorin. Thank you." Thorin gave your hand a squeeze. "Get some sleep, love. I have to go let our son know what's going on." You nodded and felt your eyes getting heavy. Hopefully, you'd get a short nap before the girls needed to eat.

Thorin made his way to the waiting room, a smile on his face that he was unable to wipe off even if he wanted to. "Dad! Is everything okay? Is mom good? How about the babies?" Dis took the boy's shoulders. She had taken time off work to sit with him. "Remember what I said? You need to breathe?" Y/S/N nodded and Dis whirled on her brother. "So? IS everyone okay? What was the third baby? A boy or girl? Oh please tell me?!" Y/S/N and Thorin chuckled. "Hey, Aunt Dis? Breathe."

"Everyone is fine. We have three beautiful, healthy babies. Three tiny girls." Dis clapped her hands and Y/S/N grinned. "Three sisters?" Thorin nodded and Y/S/N hugged him. "C-Can I see them?" Thorin nodded and motioned for Y/S/N and Dis to follow him.

Y/S/N stared in awe at the three babies right in the front. Those were his sisters. "Which one's which?" he asked. Thorin indicated each one as he spoke, "That one there, with the darker hair, is Peggy. This one without hair is Esme. And the little one in the middle, is Amber." Amber was clearly the most unhappy about being away from her mother. Her tiny fists were flailing. "She definitely got Mom's temper." Thorin laughed.

"Thank you, Dad. For making Mom so happy. And for being there for me." Thorin gave the boy's shoulder an affectionate squeeze. "Thank you for letting me into your little family, Y/S/N. I have a feeling if you had been against it, I wouldn't have any of this." Y/S/N smiled. "It wouldn't be our family without you." Thorin turned back to look at the girls. Our family. He liked the sound of that. Dis cooed at the babies through the glass and Thorin's grin widened. His eyes bounced between his three girls. His precious jewels.

(a/n: BABIES! There will be one more part!! The girls are all named after precious jewels/gems. Esme means emerald. Peggy means pearl. Amber is pretty self-explanatory.)
