Epilogue

"Will you stop fidgeting, Y/N? You look beautiful!" You scoffed. "I look like I haven't slept, Dis. Probably because I haven't. Are you sure you're going to be okay with them? I'm not sure I can do this..." Dis gave you a look that made you shut up. "Look, Y/N. You are an incredible mother, but you and Thorin have been chained to this house for over a year. I will be fine. Dwalin and the boys will help. You and Thorin need this."

You took a deep breath and nodded. She was right. The triplets were a year old now and you had barely left the house except when necessary. Now, it was finally time. You were finally about to marry the man you loved, the father of your triplets and adoptive father of your now almost eighteen year old son. Your son who was about to head off to college.

As if reading your thoughts, there was a knock on the door and your son poked his head in, his hand over his eyes. "Are you decent, Mom?" You laughed. "Yes I am." He lowered his hand and his mouth dropped open. "Mom, you look beautiful. Aunt Dis, Dwalin is out there waiting for you. Amber just started fussing." You glanced at Dis who narrowed her eyes. "Don't even think about it. Now, you are going to get married and then, you and your husband are going on your honeymoon." Without giving you a chance to argue, Dis hurried from the room.

"Are you ready for this, Mom?" You nodded. "Yes. I have been for a very long time." Y/S/N smiled. "Good, now let's go before Aunt Dis sends Dwalin in here." You let out a giggle and nodded again. "Alright. Let's go."

The ceremony was over quicker than you expected and the reception took place in Erebor. You were sitting outside, enjoying the fall sunshine, when you heard someone clear their throat. You turned away from your new husband to see Y/S/N standing up. His face was red, but he wore a look of determination.

"Mom, Dad...I want you both to know how much this day means. Not just to you, but to me too. For most of my life, it was just me and Mom. The two of us and we were happy. But I knew that Mom deserved more. She deserved to have someone who loved her. Then came the day that Dad, or Mr. Durin as I called him at the time, called her in for parent-teacher conference. I was so scared, I thought I'd pee myself. I had no idea what I had done wrong. I never expected the meeting to end with my mom having a date with my teacher."

He looked at you, cleared his throat again and continued, "I thought I ruined whatever relationship they could have had when I got hurt the night of their first date, but Dad kept coming back. At first, I was just happy that Mom was happy. Then I realized that I needed him too. I needed that father figure in my life. A male I could look up to and confide in. Dad, you completed our family in a way I never expected and I am so proud to call you my dad."

Everyone was in tears at this point. You, Thorin, Y/S/N, Dis. Everyone. Thorin got up from his seat and made his way over to where Y/S/N was standing. Your new husband pulled your son to him and hugged him tightly. The scene would have been so endearing, if not for the fact that mischievous Peggy decided that would be the opportune time to throw her mashed potatoes. Not that she could aim, but the glob of food managed to hit her brother right in the face.

"And with that, I think I'm done," Y/S/N joked, making everyone laugh. The rest of the reception went on pretty much without a hitch. Soon, it was time for you and Thorin to leave. You kissed all your girls goodbye and tried not to let them see how much it was effecting you to leave them. Dis was right, You needed this. "Goodbye, my loves. Try not to give Aunt Dis too much trouble," Thorin mumbled to them.

Just before you climbed in the car, you tossed your bouquet behind you. You glanced over your shoulder to see young Sigrid, one of Y/S/N's classmates, with the bouquet in her hands. Y/S/N was standing next to her, his face bright red as she smiled shyly at him. You laughed and got in the car. Thorin begin driving away, taking your hand in his. You looked over at him and smiled. "I love you, Thorin." He kissed your hand and replied, "I love you too, Mrs. Durin."
