Chapter 11
Elena
I couldn't explain the amount of bitterness that settled at the pit of my stomach as Victor labeled my name with his. It made me angry. More angry that what he said is true. He took me to the said room where we would be staying. For the life of me, my room is way more better than the room. Not even close to my room. And he expect me to share a room that is close to nothing with him. "You can choose either of the side you want to take" He gestured to the bed. I didn't answer him but access the medium sized bed.
"As for your clothes, you can take the wardrobe"
"What about you?" I found my mouth opening to ask without control. His brows creased in confusion as if he wasn't expecting the question from me. "Don't worry" I corrected proceeding to test the bed. Not when I felt as if I sat down on a rock.
"What the hell is this? A rock?" I jerked off massaging my behind.
"A bed of course" Victor answered while he made his way towards a door. The bathroom I think.
I followed suit. "I know it's a bed. But why is it like that . How do I sleep on it?" I almost collided with his chest as he abruptly turned around. I mentally scold myself for moving too fast. "Watch where you're going next time" He said coldly. I wanted to answer him but decided to just keep quite. After all, I will only waste my energy.
"The bathroom" He exclaimed. I rolled my eyes in return. "The bathroom is too small" I mumbled under my breath. I don't know whether he heard me and decided not to talk or he just didn't know what to say.
"Go freshen up" I said getting out of the bathroom. He threw me a look. "Meaning?"
"I don't like the smell of your perfume" I think I took him by surprise as he opened his mouth and closed it again. He should know by now what he's getting himself into.
He marched to the wardrobe and grabbed some clothes before sauntering to the bathroom. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. I access the room once again. This is definitely a cheap house. The ceiling are a shade of sand. As of it hasn't been painted for years.
The walls are dull and bleak. I wonder how he lives in this kind of house. I fished out my phone from my bag and dialed Stacy number. "Now that you're married you have decided to forget your die hard friend" I rolled my eyes in return.
"Cut that from your mouth Stacy. That is not the reason why I'm calling"
"Why? Don't tell me Vi-"
"If you see the house he brought me in. You won't believe it. A total garbage" I irked thinking about how dull the walls look like.
"You can't be serious Elena" Her high pitch voice followed.
"I'm very much serious. Hold on. Will call you back in a minute" I ended the call and took a picture of the room. I could hear the sound of shower. I sent them over to Stacy before calling her again.
"He can't be serious!" She yelled out. Well, even Stacy knows the house is a total garbage.
"I know right. And he expect me to share a bed with him. Like the bed that will not even contain myself" I said with a roll of an eye. My face snapped towards the sound of the bathroom door opening.
"Even my salary will buy more than five type of this house" I purposely said side eyeing Victor that stepped out of the bathroom.
"Are you sure of that?" Came Stacy's answer. Thank God the phone wasn't on speaker mode if not her answers will spoil everything. "You know the kind of person I am. I don't succumb to cheap things. Anyways, we will talk tomorrow. I need to freshen up" And I ended the call before she could reply and probably due to the look Victor was passing at me.
I swallowed a lump in my throat when I catch a glimpse of how his bicep were flexing. A particular spot on his arm catches my attention. It looks like a knife cut, a gun scrap. "Haven't seen a hot body before" His words processed in my head faster than the saliva I swallowed.
"Excuse me, I don't see any hot body here. You see that wall, just like how it's plain and dull, that's how I'm seeing you"
As soon as I closed the bathroom door behind me, a grin found it's way out of me. I'm sure he's pissed off. Did I just insult him that much? You're bad Elena.
I took my time in the bathroom. Not that I'm doing anything serious but buying time. By the time I came out of the bathroom, Victor was no more in sight. Nice. I trekked to the door and turned the key over. "Just wait and see what I do to you"
I didn't have any outfit to change into so I wore my old outfit, climbed the bed and pulled the covers to my body. I was chatting with Stacy giggling to something she said when I heard a knock on the door. "Elena" Victor called out.
Perfect timing.
"Are you still changing?" He said again. Changing my foot. He doesn't know what I planned for him.
"No but I'm preparing to sleep" I answered.
"Why did you lock the door then?"
"Because you're not going to enter the room. Go sleep somewhere" I said with a giggle.
"What? Are you serious? Open this door right this instant. I have no time for jokes"
"I also don't have time to talk to you. I'm sleepy. So goodnight" I covered my whole face with the duvet.
"Damn!" I heard him say followed by his fist on the door. "Don't test me Elena"
"Open this door!" He banged his fist again. All I did was laugh devilish inside the duvet. He should do his worst. He will taste the pill of his own medicine.
**
My eyes fluttered open to the sound of my phone ringing. My back felt stiff. Maybe because of how uncomfortably I slept it. Imagine as I occupied the bed alone, I ended up with a pained body talk more of sharing the bed with another. Maybe I won't be able to lift my body that day. "Hello-"
"Ma'am I've been trying to reach out to you. The meeting with Mrs. Jessica"
"Who is Jessica" I muffled out still in the sleeping daze.
"Our client" My eyes widened and I jolted up. "What? Mrs. Jessica Mason!"
"Yes Ma'am. She's been here for more than ten minutes now. And you were not picking up your calls. Hope all is well"
"I will be there in ten minutes. Do what you can to buy out time" I said ending the call and made a run to the bathroom. I have never taken a fast shower like I did at that moment. Jessica Mason is one of my top and important clients. She is the reason why my company was successful. Due to her referrals and her choosing me every time for her project.
With still no outfit to wear, I repeated the same clothes before rushing out of the room. I have no idea how I will get to the office in ten minutes when I'm looking like shit. A total shit. I walked past Victor that was seated on the sofa and made a way out. But what, my legs came to a halt as realization dawned on me. I don't have my car with me. "Shit!" I hissed out before running back inside.
"Give me the car keys I'm running late" I ushered. Victor didn't move an inch or even look like someone who wants to talk. "I'm talking to you. I need the car keys"
As she turned around, I could swear my body shivered. The shade of his eyes were different from their normal. "Why don't you use the room keys instead"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"Exactly what you heard. You should use the keys to drive yourself" I closed my eyes and opened them again heaving out a sharp breath. "Look, let's talk about this later. I'm running late. My client is waiting for me and I don't want to lose an important project"
"Are you done talking?" He said standing up to my level. "Then get out of my way. I don't care how you will get to your destination. Next time think about the consequences before committing a mistake"
Wait... What?
"Are you referring to last night?" I finally uttered as I processed his words in my brain.
"I don't know what you're talking about. What I know is you will learn from your mistake" He sauntered away leaving me in a state of shock.
Anger build up in me after some minutes. "Do whatever you like. I don't care. I have legs. I can take myself to the office without the need of your help" I yelled out. I'm sure he could hear me through the door. I stormed out of the house shutting the door with a loud thud. It should blind his ears.
"Crazy man!" I kicked the car with my foot before proceeding to embark on my journey to the office. The area was quite. All the houses there are not big houses. But that's not my concern. How to get a taxi. I couldn't sight a single taxi out there. I glanced at my watch. Five minutes have passed by coming to ten minutes and I'm still yet to get a ride. Calling my father or Jaxon won't make a difference. Before they arrive time will run out. Stacy too. Funny enough but I have no choice. I either call Mrs. Jessica and explain to her my situation or lose the project.
"Maybe if you cool down your temper and apologize, you will get to your destination pretty fast" The familiar voice ushered behind me.
