Chapter 5

A/N:It is now after school.

You messed with the zipper of your jacket nervously. You were sitting in the math room waiting for Pedro. He wasn't late, you were just early. At exactly 3:45 PM Pedro walked in to the room, set his books down, sat, and looked at you expectantly.

"Um ok so I think you've been working on equations with variables right now, right?" you asked trying to sound positive. Pedro just shrugged. "Well the good thing is variables can be pretty fun, as long as you remember one rule, you know what it is?"you said brightly.  Pedro continued to simply just stare at you.

"Ok well I'll spoil it for you, whatever you do to one side of the equation, you have to do it to the other."

Pedro nodded,"Yeah, that's what the teacher tells me every time but it doesn't help me understand it any better."

You nodded as well,"That's ok! Everybody learns differently, I'm sure will find a strategy that works for you."

"Whatever," he said grimly.

You let out a small sigh. This would be a challenge, but you never said no to a challenge. If you learned to tutor "Toxic TJ Kippen" your former enemy, and turn him into a friend (though that had mostly been Cyrus) you could do anything. "All right let's look at the first problem!" you said.

Pedro opened his book, "It says, if x equals 6 then what is n in this equation?"

         5x=6n divided by 3

"Ok so the first thing we have to do is figure out what they want us to do and that's too love for n. So, if we're solving for n, what is the first thing we have to do?" you asked Pedro.

"Ummm, the first half  of the equation?" he asked.

"Yes! So you would have to multiply what?" you smiled.

"5 and x? So 5 and 6? Which equals..." he thought for a minute. "32?"

"Close. That's 8 multiplied by 4. Remember, it just means five groups pf six," you said encouragingly.

"...30?" he finally asked.

"That's right! You're getting it!" you squealed. "So next you have to figure out what divided by three equals thirty."

He scratched something down on the paper. "So I would multiply those two numbers to figure it out right? 90?"

"Precisely!" you grinned.(A/N: For all who didn't know the correct answer is n=15.)  For the next hour, you slowly worked through the 29 questions on Pedro's homework assignment. He only struggled a  little bit and you helped him and smiled encouragingly a lot.

"Well, that's all of them! I think we, no YOU, did pretty darn good!" you said patting him on the back.

He gave you a very small, timid smile, "Thanks. I should probably be getting home to dinner now. My family eats early and tonight we're finally having steak filet! Though I'm not sure what Darla is going to eat."

Your face fell a little as  you realized that your dad was probably just wanting to order out. You did that a lot. But homemade steak filet...the idea mad your mouth water.

You must have been drooling because Pedro asked "Um...I guess you could come over if you want. It's kind of crazy and weird but it's homey."

"I wouldn't want to intrude..." you said quickly, not wanting to seem as if you were inviting yourself over.

"You wouldn't be. There's so many people they won't even notice one more kid at the table." He said shrugging.

"Well...ok! I 'd love too!" you exclaimed.

"Cool. My house isn't too far from here, so we can just walk." You nodded and grabbed your stuff while he grabbed his. This is going to be so much fun! And maybe I can see Freddy! you thought. Little did you know that you would soon discover a secret about the family that would change your life that night.

A/N: ooh! I love a good cliff hanger! So I'm going to be updating Mondays and Fridays until the story is over from now on, probably a chapter at a time, maybe more if there is one plot  line I am  super excited about. I am really excited about the next chapter and I hope you guys are too! You're going to get to see Freddy again, and maybe in more than one form if you know  what I'm saying. ;) Anyway, hope you guys liked this chapter! Sorry it took so long!
