Jimin's POV
The night had come to an end as the sunlight was replaced by the moonlight.
I sat outside upon the wooden fence overlooking a paddock of sheep.
A glowing orange light sat between my fingertips as I raised the cigarette to my puffy lips every now and again, the smoke cascading out in the fresh farm air.
"Can't sleep?"
I looked over to my left where the voice came from.
Taehyung walked towards me, wearing some red and blue square print pyjama pants, a basic white shirt, and some slides on his feet.
I looked away as he pulled his body to sit up on the fence beside me.
"I'm guessing you can't either?" I suggested before raising the cigarette to my mouth again.
"I probably could. Haven't even tried," Taehyung mentioned.
After a moment of silence he spoke up again.
"I honestly just saw you out the window and was wondering why you were outside." Taehyung explained.
I chuckled, "Saw me or the cigarette?"
He laughed too, his deeper laugh sounding quite cute but also enticing from how raspy it was.
"I guess both. You lit up from the cigarette." He explained.
"I presume you waited for your aunt to sleep before you came out?" Taehyung asked.
"Yup, she'd have a heart attack if she knew that I smoke." I honestly commented.
"I'm surprised you smoke actually." He mentioned.
I looked over at him, cocking my eyebrow.
"And why is that?" I asked while exhaling smoke.
"I just thought you'd maybe prefer to be clean because you hated falling in the mud earlier today." Taehyung teased with a smile.
"I'm clumsy alright. Plus I want a clean body but my insides can be as horrible as it wants because I don't get to see the damages," I explained.
"Besides, everyone in the city smokes. It's just a thing that happens when you work all day long and need some kind of high or relief." I went on while turning to look back into the darkness of the farm.
"Yeah, that is true." Taehyung hummed.
I turned my head to him once again, "You've lived in the city?"
"Yeah, once. I completed my studies and then I was fortunate that my family wanted to explore my love towards animals and moved out here." He explained.
"What'd you study?" I asked while hopping off the back of the fence to drop my cigarette on the gravel to stand on.
"Veterinary Science." He replied.
"Oh, it makes sense why you seem so happy about animals now." I chimed while sitting on the fence again.
He laughed, "Animals are amazing though. You just need to open your eyes and spend more time with them to see what I see." He told me.
"Do you actually work back where you live?" Taehyung asked me after a moment of silence.
"Yes? Who wouldn't work?" I asked with a slight laugh.
"I don't know, I just thought maybe you wouldn't if you are rich, like maybe you just hire people and kick back and relax." Taehyung shrugged.
"It'd be too boring to do nothing with my life, plus I completed my studies so I started my own business and it is going alright. I am also a perfectionist so it's better I do it when it comes to my business rather than others. It is fun to boss everyone around too though." I commented with a smile.
"Oh so that's where your demanding attitude comes from, it makes sense now." Taehyung teased.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"How do you even know that I am rich? Did my aunt tell you that?" I asked, looking at his facial expression.
"Yeah, she said her snobby nephew was coming here." Taehyung hummed but he couldn't help but smile so I instantly knew he was lying.
I rolled my eyes, "Gonna tell me the truth or no?"
Taehyung sighed, "It's kind of a weird story actually."
"Well I wanna know." I demanded.
I could see some uncertainty on Taehyung's face but he began to tell me, "Well, my ex was obsessed with fashion," He began making my eyebrow raise.
"But there was one designer in particular that was constantly brought up whenever we were purchasing clothes," He went on.
"And if you cannot already guess, it was obviously you and your business," He stated.
"And once I moved out 'ere, I just happened to see a photo of you with your aunt, and I was curious enough to ask her one day how she knew you, and when I found out you were family, I just kept the information that I already knew of you to myself," He said.
"Your aunt and uncle do not know that I know all the shit about you and your rich family back home. The crazy thing is I think I still have some of your designer outfits and probably newspaper articles that my ex cut up when obsessing about fashion." Taehyung mentioned.
I laughed, "Wow, that's quite a coincidence that we happened to meet then."
"Oh yeah, if only my ex knew. The jealousy would be so high." Taehyung said with a laugh.
"I will say, after working with you today, I am quite impressed. I did think you'd struggle to get your hands dirty but you did really well until you fell in the mud," Taehyung began but I cut him off.
"Oh, don't even remind me. I swear, I am okay until my clothes get ruined, then my mood goes sour so quickly." I snapped.
Taehyung taunted, "You are always sour, I cannot tell the difference."
I took a deep breath, "I would swear at you right now but I am trying to have a calm night so I'm just going to forget what you just said."
Taehyung's deep laughter was music to my ears as I just sat in silence while he felt extremely amused.
After we sat on the fence in silence for a couple minutes I decided to climb back off the fence.
"I'm gonna head up to have a bath I think, so have a goodnight." I called to Taehyung while already heading towards my aunt's house.
I could vaguely hear Taehyung call goodnight as I walked in the fresh night air.
But there was one thing on my mind as I headed inside my aunt's house.
Taehyung's ex was a fan of my designer clothes... But I only design for men...
