Night out || Chapter 2

Michelle doesn't know why she agreed to it. She wasn't even a party girl to begin with. Maybe she wanted to have fun? Who knows. She hasn't been out anywhere for the past month anyway. She was so use to laying around all day depressed that she almost forgot what it felt like to be out.

She stood in the mirror with her towel wrapped around her bare body. She doesn't know why she was starting at herself. It was like own her reflection was mocking her. Every since what happened to her two months back, she hasn't been the same. It was as if she was a walking mummy ready to be buried six-feet under. All she knows is that she wants to be normal again. But when she tries to build herself back up, there's always something to remind her of him.

Michelle knew she wasn't suppose to have thoughts about him, but they wouldn't go away. It was like a curse. A curse that made her miserable. She quickly looked away from the mirror and headed towards her closet. Her closet had such a variety of clothes in it, that she didn't know what to wear. That was until spotted a bright red dress and pulled it off the hanger. It felt silky from the touch.

She remembers when her mother bought her the dress for her eighteenth birthday a few months back. She hasn't wore it even once and thought it was time to actually wear it. She laid it down on the bed and began getting herself ready. It only took her about a good fifteen minutes to have herself fully ready.

Michelle sat on the edge of the bed to put on some matching red heels to go with her dress. When she was done, she stood up and looked in the mirror. The red dress hugged at her curves perfectly, showing off her elegant figure. The red dress brought out even more beauty than what she intended. She was always an attractive young lady, but right now she didn't care. She wasn't in the right mood to admire her appearance. Dressing up didn't make her feel any different from what she felt before. She didn't even care to style her hair or apply makeup. Her hair was barely wet and was laying wavy upon her shoulders. Its not like anyone would care anyway.

She heard her phone start to ring. She didn't even have to look at the caller ID to know who it was.

"I'm on my way out now Remi, don't rush me." Michelle said as she rethought her decision on whether she should go.

"I'm not rushing! But if we don't hurry, we won't be able to get in." Remis voice sounded desperate. Her friend was always known to drag her to places against her will at times. That was just how she was.

"Don't you know how hard it was to get an invitation? Well it wasn't that hard, but this is an opportunity to meet some hot college guys. And maybe find you someone new." Remi continued on.

Michelle was beginning to get annoyed. She wasn't planning on finding someone new. Not after what she had to go through. "If you waste time rambling to me then we won't be able to go. I'm hanging up now." With that said, she hung up.

She grabbed her purse off the bed, and begins to leave out her room. On her way down the stairs, she meets her mother down the bottom.

"Where are you going tonight?" Her mom asks.

"I'm going to a party with Remi tonight. I won't be out late." She was on her way out until her mother grabbed her by the wrist.

"Right now? Why didn't you inform me first?" Those were her mother's favorite words.

Michelle didn't say anything right away, instead she gently tugged her wrist out of her mother's grip.

"I'm sorry. I should have told you first. Actually, I'm sorry for a lot of things mom." She was surprised to hear the words that came out of her mouth at that moment, but it was the truth. Every since what happened, she's been pushing her mother away. She hasn't been wanting to but it was her way for dealing with her pain alone.

Her mom rubbed her hands along Michelle's arms in a comforting manner. She gave her a sympathetic smile. She doesn't know when was the last time she saw her mother smile. She hasn't smiled like that since father died three years ago. Michelle never thought the day would come to see her smile again.

"It's okay. I know you have been going through a lot. Just don't stay out late okay?" Her mother said a little worried.

She smiled. "Alright. Bye mom."

Michelle finally left out as she got a slight chill from the night air. Even though it was summer, it still got quite chilly around night time.

"Hey! Hurry it up will ya!" Shouted Remi from her car.

She smiled slightly and headed towards the car. She got in and closed the door. Michelle glanced over at Remi who had on a ruffled shirt and skirt set. She had her hair styled and makeup fully done.

"Well aren't you flashy tonight." Michelle said as she took in Remi's appearance.

Remi grinned. "Is that suppose to be a compliment?"

"I don't know you ask me." Was her response.

"Oh come on. You know I look good," Remi took a glance at Michelle's outfit. "Its cute but you should have styled your hair, or at least put a little makeup on."

She stayed silent.

Remi reached her hand over and placed it on top of Michelle's. "Hey. I didn't mean it in that way. I just want you to forget about that jackass and make yourself feel beautiful. You deserve to be happy."

Michelle sighed. "Your up here giving me advice while I'm feeling real shitty. How do you even put up with me?"

"That's easy. You're my friend." Remi chuckled.

"That's a too basic answer." She chuckled as well.

Remi began to start the car up. "We better get going before we're late." She said as she began pulling out of the drive way.

Michelle leaned back in the seat and strapped the seat belt around her. She didn't know what the night would bring. But she did hope that this time could help herself feel whole again.
