First day of Summer || Chapter 1

She takes a great big scoop of chocolate ice cream and shoves it in her mouth. She took a tissue and gently blew her nose. If you wanted to know, it was the first day of summer. And what was she doing? Sitting down on a Saturday morning watching crappy love movies, while she cries herself out. Like how pathetic is that? And you want to know what? She could honestly care less of how pathetic it was.

Michelle herself, only does this routine when she's lonely, or doesn't have any plans. Life for her right now really isn't so great. The reason why she's in this position to begin with is because her so called boyfriend for three years dumped her. She didn't even know how to feel. It all felt so surreal. He was her everything and he was even her first. She even thought he loved her, but now she sees that maybe she was wrong.

What hurts her the most is that he already moved on. He didn't just move on to anyone. He moved on to her bestfriend. Well now she is her ex bestfriend. But the point is that she couldn't get how her bestfriend could do that. How could the only two people ever close to her, hurt her so badly? She couldn't quite get it. The betrayal cut her so deeply that she couldn't even sort out her emotions properly. Right when she was caught up in her thoughts, she didn't even realize her brother sitting right next to her.

"I don't even see how you can watch this crap." Her brother said.

Michelle just turned to look at him and gave him a skeptical look. "Why don't you go masterbate in you're room like you usually do perv."

She saw his face give a slight blush of embarrassment.

"I-I do not!" He yelled.

"Sureee." She muses with a smirk on her lips.

Having a thirteen year old hormonal teen at home as you're brother is really awkward, but disgusting at the same time. She remembers when she walked in on him doing lord knows what. She can still imagine the stinging sensation her eyes got from seeing him in such a position.

"If you don't masterbate, then what do you do huh? I've seen you with my own eyes Vincent." Michelle pressed on the conversation just to piss her brother off.

"Its not what is seemed..." He said nervously.

"Then what was it then?" She laughed a bit at his attempt to change things.

Before she could do anything at all, Vincent jumped on her.

"Hey- what are you doing!" She yelped in surprise

What does it looks like I'm doing!" He yelled and began hitting at her.

She was about to push him off of her, but his hand pulled a fist full of her hair. This is what drew the line.

"Oh...now it's on!" She screamed before pushing her brother off of her.

He fell to the floor and quickly got up with no time to spare. Just as she was about to go after him, mom stepped in.

"What did I tell you guys about fighting? Don't make me ground you guys on the first day of summer." She stood in the middle of them with her hands on her hips.

"Mom, he was messing with me first." Michelle said as she sent him a death glare pass mother.

"Nuh uh! She pushed me on purpose. That's why you're single." Vincent sticked his tounge out at her from behind mom.

She felt herself flinch at his remark. As bad as she hates to hear those words, it was true. This was her first time being single in awhile. The way Caspian left her flashed in her mind, and only for a quick second her expression turned to hurt. Mom must have noticed this and turned to face Vincent.

"That's enough Vincent, go to your room now! Matter of fact, no video games for the rest of the day." Mom's voice was so loud that it left that shrill to make your ears ring.

"You can't be serious mom?" He scoffed, unfazed by what he said.

"Now!" She yelled.

Vincent stormed down the hall. He made sure once he got to his room to slam his door as hard as he could.

She turned towards Michelle with a pitiful look. "Oh honey, are you alright? Vincent was out of line for saying that. He's still just a-"

Michelle cut her off. "Yeah, yeah, mom I get it."

Her mom placed both of her hands on the sides of her face to make her look at her. "Michelle...don't let one break up tear you apart. I didn't even like Caspian to begin with."

"Can we not talk about this?" She tried to pull her face away.

"No we are talking about this. I'm tired of seeing my own daughter waste away." She paused to push a piece of hair out of her face. "You are destroying yourself and I do not like it. All you do is avoid this topic."

That was true. Michelle always avoided the topic about her ex because it was too much to handle. She still wasn't healed, so even the sound of his name made her flinch.

"I just don't ever want to have to remember him, so please can we not? Can we not mom." She honestly felt like crying, but she didn't want to seem so weak. She didn't want to break down in front of her mom.

Her mom stepped away from her. She could tell she was disappointed in her, but she didn't want to talk about it. Everything at the moment was confusing and depressing and she couldn't think right. She just wanted to be alone with her emotions.

"I'm gonna go to my room." Michelle mumbled to herself. She turned away from her mom and headed towards the living room to clean up her mess.

"I just hope your not like this when you go to Yale this fall. I know your not ready to talk about it, so whenever you are just know I'm here for you okay?" Said her mom with a sigh.

She could hear the worry in her mother's voice, but remained silent. She just didn't have the energy to talk to anyone. When Michelle got done cleaning up her mess, she went straight towards her room. At least in there no one would bother her.

When she got to her room she gently closed the door behind her and slid down against it. She felt the warm tears erupt from her eyes, and make their way down her cheeks. Its only been two months since Caspian left her, and the wounds he made still felt so fresh. Never in her life would she ever imagine a heart break to feel so painful. It was so unbearable that she thought she couldn't survive life itself. She hardly ever cried, but right now she couldn't control it. Its as if her emotions took over at that moment.

Michelle glanced over at her dresser. She heard her phone ring. She began to ignore it, but the ringing noise continued on.

Ring, ring, ring.

It was a constant cycle that wouldn't stop. At the last minute, she decided to get up to go see who it was. When she picked up the phone, it was no one other than Remi. Remi was a childhood friend from elementary. She already knew what happened between her and Caspian. When she told her, Remi was ready to give him a piece of her mind, but she didn't want her to intervene. It was her problems after all. Gripping the phone tightly in her hand, she stared at the screen. She didn't want to answer but knew it was best to answer now then to later on have her phone spammed with messages.

Michelle wiped the remaining tears away and answered the phone. "Hello." Her voice croaked

"Hey girl!" Remi's voice blasted through the phone. "You sound terrible, was you crying again? I can hear it in your voice."

She tried to change the subject. "What do you want?"

"Heyyy...no need to get grumpy! I just wanted to check up on my bestie."

"Yeah well I feel like shit. If you don't have anything to talk about I'll hang up." She warned.

"Wait! I do! I just...well...you might not be in the mood to go anyway." Remi's voice lowered.

"What makes you say that?" Michelle asked.

She heard Remi hesitate over the phone before she spoke.

"I know you're going through a lot right now, and I honestly get that. But I don't want you to stay trapped in the house all day. You're young Michelle. You need to have some fun." Remi said.

"Just get to the point." She didn't feel like talking to anyone, so she wanted her to get to the point.

"Would you like to go to a party with me tonight?"
