The Weekend (Part 1/2)
While I was asleep, I was awakened at around three in the morning. I rolled over to see Natsuki crying into a pillow.
"Natsuki? Are you okay?" I asked her with concern.
She stops crying and looks at me with puffy eyes. "Yeah, just still having nightmares is all."
I was beginning to think that wasn't all the case. "Are you sure? You know you can talk to me about anything."
"I promise I will Noah."
She laid her head on my chest and closes her eyes. I eventually fall back asleep as well.
I wake up at around ten in the morning. I smell something delicious coming from the kitchen. I put on some clothes and grab my crutches and hobble out of my bedroom. I find Jacob still asleep and Natsuki cooking some breakfast.
"Hey sunshine, watcha cooking?"
She turns around and fixes my hair some. "Ah, nothing really. Just some pancakes, eggs, and bacon."
Jacob must've smelled food as well, as he came out of his room with some bed head.
The food was finally ready, and we talked about what we were going to do when Monika and Sayori got here. They were supposed to get here by around 3 pm. We didn't think we'd need much, just some stuff to color with, and a computer and printer. It was mainly me and Natsuki talking, as I didn't notice until later hey Jacob wasn't talking hardly at all.
"You okay?" I asked him. He looks at me with sad eyes.
"Can we talk outside?" He suddenly asks me.
"Yeah, I guess so," I said as I let go of Natsuki's hand.
Jacob and I step outside into our backyard.
"What is it?" I questioned him.
"Dude, have you ever thought of a way to get out of here?"
"Well yeah, I have. Why do you ask?"
"I'm getting tired. I know we've only saved Natsuki so far, but I want to go home, and I don't even know how to go home."
I could tell he was truly upset. "I get it man. This is tiring for me too, but we can't right now. There's still more to do, and we should be done by around the middle of next week or so."
Jacob sighed. "Dude, once we save Yuri, I'm probably going to leave."
That shocked me. I couldn't believe how he was acting. "What? Saving Monika is going to be the hardest thing here to do! I'm not saying that this isn't hard, but it's already hard enough! I need all the help I can get. Remember the promise I made to you last night?"
He wordlessly nodded his head. "And I'm determined to keep it. I will not allow any of the girls to die. We've come too far to fail now, and worse yet, I don't know what will happen if we do fail."
Jacob sighed again and looked at me. "You're right man. I'm sorry for acting like that."
We share a hug and enter the house. Natsuki was cleaning the kitchen. It was around one, so we still have some time to spare.
"Hey Nat, do you need any help?"
"No, you and Jacob go watch a movie or something. I got this."
"You sure?" I asked.
"Huh? Yeah I can do this."
That reminded me of the time Natsuki and I was in the closet and the manga was on the top shelf. I smile remembering that. That moment is probably what sparked our relationship. I'm glad I was there for her when she really needed it.
It was finally time for Monika and Sayori to come over. It was around 2:30, so we began cleaning up a little bit more around the house. Natsuki finished cleaning the living room, while Jacob and I tidied up the rest of the house.
Three finally came, and the doorbell rang. I answered the door. To my surprise, it was only Monika.
"Hey, guys!"
I look around her, and no sign of Sayori. Jacob and Natsuki later come up to the door.
"Hey Monika, where's Sayori?" Natsuki asked.
"Oh, I thought she was with you guys already," Monika said with a questioned expression.
"Do you guys want me to go check on her again?" Jacob asked us. I was sure he didn't want to go through that scare again.
"No, I'll do it this time," I said.
I put on some shoes and headed out the door. When I got there, I didn't bother checking the front door this time, so I went ahead to the back. Going inside, I immediately had a flashback of Natsuki's house when Jacob and I first walked in.
I quickly shook it off and called for Sayori. "Hey! Sayori! Are you here?"
I heard her call out from her room. I went up the stairs and knocked on her door. As I listened, I heard dresser drawers quickly open and close. I came in after a minute, and I glanced over at the dressers. I saw something white barely sticking out of it, but I couldn't tell what it was.
"Hey Noah. What are you doing here?" Sayori asked.
"Ah, I was just wondering if you were ready to help with the pamphlets with us."
She seemed to have forgotten. "Oh! I completely forgot. Sorry, I just woke up."
I look at her. She just woke up.
"Sayori. You just woke up. Seriously?" She looks at me with sad eyes.
"Yeah, I did."
I don't know what to do anymore. "Well come on and help us out. We really need it!" I say. Sayori eventually agrees, and we head back to my house.
We make it back to my house and we find everybody in the living room working on the pamphlets. Jacob turned around as we entered the house. The look on his face told me he was relieved. Monika showed no emotion.
"Hey, Sayori. What held you up?" Natsuki asked.
"Ah, just decided to sleep in, that's all," Sayori said with a nervous chuckle. Afterward, the five of us began working on the pamphlets.
The pamphlets weren't that hard to make. It was just the fact that we have to make about 150-200 of them, if not more than that. Good thing we have the girls, who are all artistic. About halfway through, Monika suggested we take a break. All of us agreed, and we decided to go out to eat. Jacob was joking around saying that we shouldn't go get ice cream, since we left him out last time. What was worrying me, however, was that Sayori was quiet, but I was also confused. She was a whole lot happier during the first few days I was here. So what happened?
Then I heard a familiar voice in my head. Her depression worsens over time. Yes, it would be mainly due to me, but it is not me this time. I look over at Monika, but she only returned the look and raised her eyebrows.
The voice continued. Something else must be triggering it.
It hit me then. The voice sounded just like the angel from before.
Well, I need to find out what else is hurting Sayori before it's too late.
We all decide to stop at a burger place and sat down at a table. Sayori initially didn't feel like eating, but I convinced her to eat something. We ate and headed back to the house in due time.
On the way back, my phone buzzed. It was Natsuki, for some reason.
Nat: Hey, why don't you want to tell me what's wrong with Sayori? She's my friend too ya know
Me: Nat, I wish I could tell you, but I just can't. I might tell you tonight if possible
Nat: Okay then *mad emoji*
Me: I still love you tho!
Nat: Ugh, I love you too...
I was surprised that she said I love you. I wasn't not complaining though.
We made it back to the house and immediately got back to work. Fortunately, we didn't have all that much to do left. It would still take us a good amount of time, and it was already almost six. A little while later, we finally finished all of the pamphlets at around 8:30, and Sayori and Monika left at around nine.
Jacob came up to me. "Hey, should we go check on Sayori?"
I thought for a moment. "I don't think so. She started talking a little before they left. The game, er, doesn't actually kill Sayori until Monday." Although Jacob still looked a little uneasy, he agreed to what I was saying.
"Hey, if it still makes you uncomfortable, then we can go. I mean, I don't wanna stop you or anything," I said.
Surprisingly, Jacob shook his head. "No, I think you're right."
I only nodded and sighed due to my own nervousness building up, but that was the end of the conversation.
I brushed my teeth, put my nightclothes on, and went to bed. I find Natsuki reading manga again in my bed. She saw me, put down her book, and immediately asked me the question I has been dreading for a while.
"Hey, do you want to tell me what's wrong with Sayori?"
I was grateful that she wasn't one of those girls that demand answers from you. It was that she genuinely wanted to know, and I never blamed her. I would too if I were in her shoes.
I didn't know what to say, but Natsuki waited patiently. "Well, Sayori has actually been depressed her whole life, and I just found out recently. Jacob and I are trying everything we can to help her out."
She looked shocked. "What? Sayori of all people?"
"Yeah, I was just as surprised as you are."
"Well, count me in on helping. Does anyone else know about this?"
I was unsure whether to tell her if Monika knew, but I assumed that it was fine.
"I think Monika knows," I answered.
"Figures she does. Well, that's four of us. I think we should tell Yuri tomorrow whenever she gets here. Do you think that's okay?"
"Yeah, I suppose it is," I respond.
"Good."
We end the conversation there as we kiss each other goodnight and turn off the lights. I still can't help but worry about Sayori. The hardest part was I still didn't know if she was alive.

And that was part seven! I'm sorry that this is a little on the late side, but at least it wasn't two weeks late you know. All I have to say is that I should be able to work on the beginning of part eight tomorrow since I'm off for Presidents' Day and I hope that I'll get something out tomorrow evening. Later guys!
