5th Album

Hey guys, I just wanted to share some stuff I was thinking about regarding Paramore and their next album.

So, as we know, this will be the first album in 9 years to not feature Jeremy, which I'm worried about kind of, not that I'm giving him a free pass for acting like a tool but still he was a very big part of Paramore's sound and live performances. So I'm just worried about how they'll figure out all of that stuff, because it's obviously going to be noticeable. When Josh and Zac left, you could hear that the music was less guitar and drum heavy, and in turn Jeremy got a lot of bass solo opportunities. So what will they do now? Will it become guitar and drum heavy again, drowning out the bass playing just like it used to? Or will they go a more electronic route and become super synth heavy to cover up the lack of those instruments?

That brings me to my second worry, and that is Zac Farro. As you know, Zac, Hayley, and Taylor are hanging out again, they even posted a picture of them eating together a few hours ago. Now, I'm gonna be blunt with this statement: I don't want to hear a Half/Noise feature on this album. Now before you sacrifice and/or torture me, I like Half/Noise. However, I don't think Paramore should go in the same direction that Half/Noise has. Personally, I'd like to see an old school style album, like an ode to the Riot! Era. And I know that is what most of the fans are pressing for as well. When the self titled album came out, a lot of fans, new and old, were critical of the synth-poppy sound they came out with. If you're not familiar with Half/Noise, synth-pop/indie/electronica is really the gist of what he does. So I think if Paramore were add that to this new album, the fans who were dissapointed before will be even more dissapointed, especially those hoping for AWKIF/Riot!/BNE styled album. And seeing them lose fans is really hard, probabably even harder for them, and I don't think they could keep it as cool this time if those synth hating fans came back in a second, stronger wave.

My third and final worry is going to sound bitter to some, and require a bit of an explanation. Personally, when I connect with an artist, it is an instant click connection. Doesn't matter the genre, or how old the artist is , or any of that. Paramore was the first band that I ever listened to where I liked all of their songs. All of them. Paramore have recorded and released/leaked well over 80 songs, I have only hated 2. Yup, 2. In all 12 years, all four albums, EPs, demos, etc. That said, there are a lot of celebrated artists that I just don't have that special connection with, an example would be Journey, or PVRIS, I just don't have a connection with them, not saying they're terrible, I just don't connect with them. I also have, what I believe to be an excellent, voice tolerance range. I like Elvis, I like Twenty One Pilots, I like Ronnie Radke, I like Aretha Franklin, really a range of voices. However, in our beloved punk scene, I hate a lot of the male voices, as a lot of them sound stereotypical, whiny, and just annoying. If you know me well, you know, I don't like New Found Glory. I don't keep it a secret, I don't care if people hate me for it. I have listened to them, I don't connect with their sound, and they have that stereotypical punk voice that I hate. And if I happened to hear them on this album, I can't say I'd be excited. I think Hayley has a strong enough voice to carry an album on her own, I honestly didn't even like when they collaborated with Joy Williams on Hate To See Your Heart Break, because I feel like a Paramore song with any vocals other than Hayley's, is a Paramore song that is being weighted down. The reason Paramore couldn't continue without Hayley is because of the intensity she brings when she sings the words that she wrote about the experiences she felt, and when someone else sings those words, as much as they try and as good as they are, it just doesn't seem to resonate as much.  Also, Let me reiterate a point for you:

I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT CHAD AND HAYLEY'S RELATIONSHIP, I KNOW TAYLEY AND ALL THAT ISN'T REAL.

However, I will start giving a fuck if this new album is nothing but love songs. Hayley Williams has such a powerful voice and presence, and Paramore have created, what I consider to be, a lot of empowering/anthemic/relatable songs. I couldn't imagine her using her presence and voice, to just sing about how much she loves Chad for 11 or so tracks. But, with finally tying the mother-fucker down, after 7 years, I'm sure she's pretty happy, and I'm happy she's happy, but there is more to life than just happiness. The greatest Paramore songs, Ignorance, Monster, In the Mourning, show brooding anger, hatred, hope, desparation, and survival, they are considered the greatest for a reason, because they show those feelings that so many of us have felt, and sometimes not been able to fully express, they give us power, and make us feel not as lonely or lost as we do without them. And before you judge me, think to yourself, can I listen to 10 or 11 love songs in a row? If you honestly answer yes, you're one of the strongest people I've ever known. Hayley has a tendency to focus her writing on the current events in her life, and the most current is her marriage, which I'm guessing is why she doesn't seem so heartbroken over losing Jeremy, she's just riding on that wave of happiness, and it doesn't look like she's coming back down to earth anytime soon. Paramore was the happiest album they made, and it still had themes of anger and survival, and nothing special even really happened to her during that time. I think this has the ability to push the aggressive/sad/survival themes right out the window.

Thank you if you actually read through all of this, these were really just some worries I have for the new album, and as ridiculous as some of them sound, they really are possible if you really think about it. As always I'm not trying to offend/hurt anyone or upset anyone. I love you guys so much and there will be updates to come! - H
