1¤ My Starbucks Boy

"Godmother" A small voice came from below me.

I turned my head and ignored the call. I needed more sleep.

"Godmotherrrrrr" The voice whined again, kicking my butt.

"What the fuck do you want at this hour Jasmine?" I asked angrily, my eyes still closed.

"Could you go get Starbucks today?"

My eyes shot open. "No. It's your turn today" I snapped, resting my head back on the pillow.

"I know, but I got my period today"

I looked up at her, seeing as she widened her already big eyes at me, making me fall into that demonically cute trap she always set.

"Bitch" I groaned, rolling off the couch to the floor where she was, and then getting up.

"I love you" She cooed as I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth.

"Ew. Love yourself, rabid goat"

She laughed out loud, making my frown morph into a grin, and then a laugh.

It was kind of a ritual for us to have Starbucks coffee every Wednesday and Friday. We usually took turns in getting it. Today being Jasmine's turn, I hoped to wake up to breakfast and warm coffee, but she just had to get a visit today.

As annoyed as I was, I had to help, because I knew how cramps hurt.
Plus, she suffered way worse when I was on mine, so yeah, who was I to complain.

"Good morning Adrien, why you today?" The extremely nice barista greeted me, a smile instantly lighting up her features.

"Hey Kayla. Jas got her period today, so she couldn't come"

Her face scrunched up in frown. "Oh poor sweetie, tell her I'm sorry about it"

"It's okay. I just keep wondering why God decided to punish us this way"

She laughed, a shrill laughter that should have sounded annoying, but because it was Kayla, always sounded funnier than the joke.

"You're hilarious Adri. So the normal?"

I nodded in reply.

As she walked off to get my coffee and muffins, I scanned the café.

I was one of the first customers here, and all the staff knew Jasmine and I's ritual.
They also knew our orders and never had to ask twice. We were literally part of the Starbucks family.

"You know, in a little while you won't have to come here all the time anymore" Kayla said, handing me the drinks and two bear claws.

"What do you mean?" I asked back, handing her my money.

"You haven't heard? There's a new Starbucks coming up in your side of town"

The reason Jas and I didn't come as often as we liked was because of the distance from home. An hour was too far to walk every day for coffee, and the buses all had times they came and left. Wednesday's were the only days we could splurge on morning time.

We also never really had our coffee's hot.

"Are you serious? When?" I asked, feeling happy at the good news

"I think it's opening next week"
"Yes! Coffee erryday"

"Huh?"

"Yes, coffee everyday" I repeated, rolling my eyes"

"Oh. Well say hi to Jas for me. I'll miss you guys when you start going to the other Starbucks. Will you ever visit here?"

"Sure Kay, why wouldn't we? You're like, our family! We're definitely gonna visit"

"Okay. Well bye now" she said, hugging me.

"Bye Kay" I replied, hugging her back.

"I'm hooooome" I announced, taking off my boots and walking to the kitchen.

Since our coffee was usually cold by the time we got back, we made our own method of warming it up. By putting it in the microwave.

"I'm in the showerrrr" her voice rang out.

"And I didn't ask youuuu" I sang back, putting my coffee cup and the bear claw in the microwave. And then shoving Jasmine's into the fridge.

"Bae, Kayla says hi, and she also said another Starbucks is coming close to home"

"How?"

"Like they're building up a new one close by. So we don't have to travel an hour for coffee anymore"

"Oh my God seriously?" Jasmine squealed, making me turn and look at her.

A light blue towel was wrapped around her slender body, and her hair was matted to her head.

"Yeah. I'll miss Kay though"

She probably didn't hear me, because she didn't reply.

But the next thing I heard, was a loud shriek, and then a thud.

I ran to our shared bedroom, and saw my 23 year old roommate, sprawled out on the floor.

"J-Jasmine, you okay?" I asked, my breath shaky with laughter, just waiting to erupt.

She pushed her wet and sticky hair away from her face and glared at me.

"Do I look okay?"

At that, I couldn't hold it in any more.

"OHMIGOD JASMINE, Y-YOU FELL" I screamed in laughter, sitting on the floor beside her.

"I did, big deal?" She replied, annoyed but I didn't care anyway.

"Yes! How many times do I have to tell you to wipe your feet before you leave the bathroom?"

"Oh sue me. The one thing I do wrong, you jump at me"

My laughter had subsided by now, but I was still having giggle fits.

"Well duh, you're little miss perfect, so it's only natural to look for one bad thing"

Truth to be told, Jasmine was a perfectionist.

She liked everything in a particular order, and God help you if you messed up that order.

"Aren't you going for lectures today?" She asked me, brushing her hair that stopped just above her shoulders.

"No" I mumbled with a full mouth, leaning against the door frame.

"Why?"

"Because if I go, it's to turn in my assignments, and I already did that online, Mom"

"Whatever. I'll be back early today. Mainly because I'm starting my Christmas break. Anything you want me to get?"

Jasmine had a job as an editor for one of the best publishing houses in London, which paid her an amazing salary but took up so much time.
I appreciated it though, because along with helping her with some of her work, she was always there to make sure I studied late into the night whenever I had tests and exams.

Having her as a best friend and roommate proved to be the best decision I had taken in my life, yet.

"Yeah. Bread" I replied, giving her a big smile.

"How did I not see that coming?" She asked herself, rolling her eyes. But I still caught a smile coming on to her face.

Honestly I couldn't ask for a better best friend.

Author's note

Hey guys.

So this story was just an idea I had, and I had to type down before I forgot it.

This first chapter isn't much, I know, but I've got a lot planned for the rest.
