By the time the school bell rang— which indicates that it's time for the students to be dismissed from their respective classes, Air immediately grabbed his backpack and rushed towards the exit of his classroom, being ahead of his classmates for the first time.
As soon as he reached the main door and left the school building, Air gave out all his energy to run back to his house just to make sure his little brother doesn't do anything to himself while he was away.
Unfortunately, it was still raining severely, with his school uniform started to soak wet from the raindrops. But, Air didn't care about it at all as he kept sprinting towards his house. How dumb of him that he'd actually forget to use his own powers to help himself from the rain.
But since he was in a hurry and was thinking about his little brother too much, he made a sacrifice instead.
He was already panting heavily since he's not used to any physical activities. But, this is his young brother, and he'll do anything for his sake, everything, to make sure that he is alright.
When he finally got back home, he immediately slammed the door open as he entered, closing it afterwards and took off his school shoes. He then made his way upstairs, throwing his backpack to his room as he passed by it.
But he saw something from the corner of his eye when he passed by his room, which made him halted from running. He slowly went back to his room and spotted something that was placed on his bed.
Curiously, he entered his room to see that object more clearly. When he finally got closer to it, his heart sunk when he realized, it was his stuffed toy, Whaley, and next to it, was a piece of paper, with a small note written on it.
Carefully, he took the paper and stared at it. He felt his heart dropped when he read the note, causing his eyes to form warm tears.
"I don't need Whaley anymore. Your choice if you want to keep him or not. If not, you can just rip him off into pieces then throw him away on the waste until its color faded. Just like what you did to my heart, to my smile, and to my happiness."
-Angin
Air hadn't noticed that he'd already let go of the paper, as tears started to stream down his face. He'd never felt so ashamed of himself. How could he be so inconsiderate and hard-hearted to his own little brother's feelings?
He wanted to make this right. He wanted Angin to know that he's truly the big brother he's been looking and waiting for so long. He wanted him to know, that he finally changed for the better.
In no time, Air swiftly made his way out of his room and went towards his little brother's room, slowly and gently opening his door afterwards.
But the moment he opened the door, he was surprised to see that his younger brother's room so dark, and thought that he might haven't switched on the lights. The dim light from outside's the only one illuminating the sombre room of his little brother.
What made Air's heart twinge was, seeing his little brother sulking on the corner, looking so depressed and dispirited.
He hesitantly approached him, wanting to comfort him so bad, but he was the one at fault, who made his little brother in this condition. Since, he was too eager to get his attention, he softly called him.
But, he didn't know that his little brother was already at his limit.
"Angin—"
"YOU'RE THE WORST BROTHER EVER!" The wind element exclaimed, as he got up from the floor and faced his big brother. His sudden rage startled the water element. Thus, it frightened him.
"DON'T YOU KNOW THAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO STAY STRONG ALL THIS TIME!? TRYING TO KEEP THIS FAMILY STABLE, AND FOR ME TO STAY STRONG! ESPECIALLY, FOR YOU! EVER SINCE DAD LEFT US! AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME!?"
Truthfully, Air was indeed oblivious to this, and he admitted that mistake— no, that big mistake of being so clueless about it.
"HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT MY FEELINGS?!"
Again, Air admitted, that he too, was insensitive with his little brother's feelings.
"WHAT ABOUT LUCKY!? DO YOU EVEN KNOW THAT HE JUST RECENTLY PASSED AWAY!?"
Truth be told, Air never knew about that as well.
"DO YOU EVEN HAVE ANY CLUE HOW HE JUST DIED ON MY ARMS!? DON'T YOU KNOW HOW PAINFUL THAT WAS!? YOU WEREN'T EVEN THERE WHEN LUCKY GOT BURIED!" Angin's voice cracked up as he stated the last line, as he broke down into tears afterwards.
"Why was he even outside in the first place...?" He mumbled, his heartbreaking sobs filled up the gloomy atmosphere.
But for Air, he knew why and unfortunately for him, he couldn't just hide the truth from his little brother forever. But the worst part of it was, he's going to say it now, which is really a bad idea, and a bad timing for him.
"I... I was the one who put him outside..." He said, slowly looking at his young brother gloomily and felt truly disappointed with what he'd done.
Angin's teary eyes widened in shock, making his big brother stare at him anxiously. "W-What...?"
"P-Please forgive me, Angin!—"
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?" Angin furiously exclaimed once again. "DON'T YOU KNOW THAT HE'S THE ONLY ONE IN THE FAMILY THAT KEEPS ME MOTIVATED?! WHO ALWAYS KEEPS ME COMPANY BECAUSE YOU WERE NEVER THERE FOR ME!? WE'D ALREADY LOST DAD, AND NOW, LUCKY!?"
The wind elemental stared at him, both in disbelief and in disappointment. "YOU JUST KILLED HIM!"
As Air was watching his little brother expressed his great anger towards him, his heart on the other hand, was aching every time he saw him cry, and most especially, seeing him in this current state, with all of his happiness vanished, because of the unforgivable mistakes he did.
"DON'T YOU KNOW THAT LUCKY AND MY FRIENDS WERE THE ONLY REASONS WHY I WAS TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE!? BUT NOW, LUCKY'S GONE, AND AT THE SAME TIME, MY BEST FRIENDS WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND AND THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT TO ACCOMPANY ME!"
Angin's body trembled from his sudden outburst, his face still wet with tears. He then dropped both of his knees on the ground, his temper starting to reduce down.
"I just feel... so alone... So broken... deep inside." Angin softly stated, as he sniffled. "Just please tell me, if you don't need me anymore, I could just make this easier for the both of us. For me to, disappear as well... because, you couldn't find any happiness from me anymore." He added, as he started sobbing once more.
Air couldn't take it any longer as he went closer to his little brother, kneeling down on his level and hugged him tightly yet, gently. Tears started to make their way down the water elemental's face.
"Hey..." Air called, with his voice shaking. "Please... stop crying..." He softly pleaded, as he hugged his little brother more.
"I don't want to see you sad... I don't like it when you're sad... It breaks my heart seeing you like this..." He stated. "Please, smile... for me... Please don't replace it... I want to see that smile of yours. I want to see you happy again. Since... they are the ones that makes me, happy... And not just those..."
Air loosened the hug a bit, his finger making its way to his little brother's chin and made him look up at him.
"You, my little brother... You are, my source of happiness." He genuinely said, a small yet sincere smile was curved on his lips while staring deeply at his little brother's eyes.
"And I'm so sorry, my little breeze..."
Not for long, a sad yet, warm smile formed on Angin's lips, making his big brother's smile widened the moment he saw him smile once again. Angin tackled his big brother to a huge, warm, bear hug, with Air returning his hug afterwards.
"Welcome back, big brother!" Angin heartily said. "I love you!" He added, his smile then turned to a grin.
'Finally, my little breeze is back, and his happiness I've been longing from him has returned as well.' Air thought as tightened the hug more, to make his little brother feel his wholeheartedly love for him.
"Love you too, my little breeze."
After some brotherly-time moment, suddenly, Angin then let out a cheeky giggle. "By the way, you're wet, big brother." He stated, giggling once more. "Did you took a shower from the rain?"
Air chuckled from his response. "It's refreshing, though." He replied, as he grinned at his little brother.
Unknowingly, the stormy weather from outside was now replaced with the orange coloured sun brightly setting down from the horizon, with an unexpected rainbow revealing so colorful from the outside.
Oh, how everything turned out peaceful after the two elemental brothers' relationship got mended back once again.
