Natasha Romanoff, I love you
Caitlyn stood in the middle of the destruction, pain coursing through her body. The loss of her soulmate just mere hours before still ringing through her body and now the loss of her father. The only man that she trusted, the only man that she vowed to tell everything too, and now, he's gone. Pepper was clinging onto Tony's body after she had pulled him into her arms to fully cry into his cheek. Peter sat behind Pepper, crying as silently as he could, because the sound of Tony's fading heartbeat flowed through his ears, over and over. Caitlyn finally dropped, the pain making her chest tighten and her heart struggle to beat, she grabbed onto the rubble. The cement, wires, and glass cut her hands and her face. The young adult let out a deafening scream, making the sound echo in the crater.
Nebula ran over, grabbing the girl and holding her close as Caitlyn just poured her emotions out in screams. When most of the pain left her body, she pushed Nebula away and bolted, tripping and slipping on the rubble. She headed for the treeline when a splitting thought came to mind and she turned around, running for Pepper, already seeing her pull the nano gauntlet off of Tony's body. She grabbed it and slipped it on, hearing the startled gasp of everyone and then feeling their stares at her as her body took the added pain. She felt none of the pain resulting from using the gauntlet. "I'm just going to bring Tony and Natasha back! That's all I need! That's all I want! Please!"
Her cries echoed as she brought her hand up, in the same way Tony had, and she just stared up at the sky. "If they live, I don't care happens to me, all I want is them to be living and being happy in our family."
She yelped as Stephen's cape surged forward and wrapped around her hand, forcing her to stop what she was trying to accomplish. Stephen walked over and grabbed her shoulders. He stared into her eyes. "You do this, and you will die."
Caitlyn coughed out a sob. "But they'll be here! Natasha will have her family back and Tony'll have Virginia, Morgan, and Peter."
Stephen looked down and sighed when Peter climbed over, using the Iron Spider legs and he grabbed her free hand. "Caitlyn, if you do this, they'll mourn you. Tony'll hate that you sacrificed yourself to bring him and Natasha back. Natasha will sit in this rubble and cry, holding your body. Do you want that? Do you want them to hate and mourn you?"
Caitlyn looked at Peter's eyes and unwrapped the cape from around the gauntlet. "Don't you want Tony back? Your father figure!? Do you want Morgan to grow up without a father!? Do you want me to just sleep outside every single night, staring up at the stars, crying and begging for them to come back? I want them back for so many reasons more than mine! I want Tony to be able to accept Bucky! I want to see Clint smile again, I want them to finish living their lives."
She let out a scream of pain as she snapped her fingers and Peter gasped, being blinded and then hearing the sudden furious beating of Tony's heart and the crackling sound of the open portal on Vormir that let Natasha walk back and just stare at Caitlyn's dying form. Wanda suddenly shot forward and her eyes flashed red, making Caitlyn's body still. Her hands slowly pushed the nano gauntlet off her body and tried to funnel the dying cells into Caitlyn's left arm, forcing the arm to die and make the woman live without a left arm. Tony held Pepper close and wiped her tears. "Where's the gauntlet, Pep?"
Pepper smiled tearfully and turned her head toward Caitlyn, finally taking in her adopted daughter's limp body lying on the stone. Natasha stumbled over and grabbed Caitlyn's body. The woman sobbed into her chest, believing the girl was dead until a sudden painfilled gasp came out of her body. Natasha grabbed her head and Caitlyn laughed, crying. The two were so wrapped into each other that they didn't notice the fact that Caitlyn's arm was gone. Tony hurried over and just stared at the girl. "Oh my god."
Caitlyn went quiet and turned her head to look at him. She let out a soft cry as she forced herself to sit up and she wrapped her arm around Tony. She started sobbing into his chest, not wanting to let him go. The man held her close, kissing her head. He just held her close. The two were clung onto each other until the team slowly sat down around them. The 18 of them just sat there. Bruce winced as the rubble groaned under his body. Wanda was staring at the gauntlet, the same thought that had filled Caitlyn's head filled hers. "Can we rebuild him?"
Tony looked at Wanda. "Honey, I've been working on making Vision 2.0 for the past three years."
Wanda started sniffling, smiling at Tony. "You really are a dad, aren't you?"
Slowly the group started to get up and move, T'Challa was already talking with Caitlyn about making her an arm and Natasha had an arm wrapped around her waist, holding the girl close. Natasha just couldn't leave the girl alone, knowing that she had high anxiety and a tendency to have severe anxiety attacks when it came to all of them in a life-or-death situation, as it had five years ago during the previous two Thanos interactions. When the entirety of the Dora Milage, the Wakandan army, T'Challa, Shuri, Bucky, Caitlyn, and Natasha walked through the portal, Caitlyn immediately dropped onto the ground, whimpering and shaking. The girl tried to clutch at her chest and she let out coughs of sobs as her adrenaline dropped and the pain from her body surging through her. A short scream of pain left her body as she just stared at Natasha. Natasha looked, helplessly towards Bucky and T'Challa. She knew the two would help her get the panicking teen to the palace.
Bucky picked up the squirming girl and whispered calming things and rubbed her back, he knew what was going through her head, as most of the group would now suffer from these memories. He hummed as the girl passed out, now sprinting to the Palace. He knew how much this girl meant to Stark and Natasha. Caitlyn whimpered in her limp state from time to time, the events of the day making their way into her mind and flashing them in scaringly accurately precision of events.
It started when Scott, Steve, and Natasha arrived at the house the day before. Caitlyn was playing with Morgan inside when she saw Natasha, she ran outside and launched onto the woman. The group laughed quietly as the two kissed and held onto each other. The two chatted as Scott and Steve talked with Tony.
The scene then shifted to Caitlyn sitting across from Tony in the garage lab, the two staring at each other as Tony made the choice to have Friday create the mock-up of the "Time Machine". She looked at the picture of Peter on the desk before looking back over to him. "Shit!"
The two jumped when they heard the response from Morgan, and Caitlyn smiled softly as Tony reprimanded her and then brought her back to bed. Caitlyn stared at the mockup for hours, well it was only minutes until Pepper came down, after talking with Tony. Pepper grabbed her hand. "I know you're scared."
Caitlyn giggled, although she knew it was from the nerves. "What if this does work? What if I have to go back to my family?"
Pepper hugged her, rubbing her back. "Then we will fight for you, especially Natasha."
The scene shifted again to Caitlyn getting out of the silver car Tony had driven to the compound. She pushed passed Steve and into the building, looking for her soulmate and her 'uncle' Bruce. She headed for the large lab and squealed, you know that squeal that only teenage girls can do when she saw Bruce. "Uncle Bruce!"
Bruce smiled and walked over, gently hugging the girl, pulling her close. "I missed you!"
The two talked about what had happened the past few weeks between each other, obviously not mentioning the entire "time-heist" situation as the two were already fully engrossed in the situation. Nebula walked over and smiled at them. The group chatted and talked quietly.
The scene changed to Caitlyn anxiously waiting beside the platform, she knew something had happened, she could feel it. When she saw Clint return without Natasha, the girl screamed, collapsing to the ground into the puddle of pain she was trying so hard to make disappear. Tony heard the scream and hurried over, wrapping his arms around her.
The scene morphed again into them deciding who was going to snap their fingers to bring everyone back. Caitlyn was already reaching for the gauntlet when Clint pulled her back. "No!"
Caitlyn fought him. "If she's dead, I want to be dead too!"
The room stilled, hearing her words. Tony looked away, he didn't know this was going to happen. He would've done anything else but have his kid in such pain.
Caitlyn suddenly jolted awake, in a bed with Natasha watching over her. She panted and clenched onto the bedding. Natasha reached a hand out to her and gently rubbed her arm. The older woman didn't say anything, just letting the younger know that she was safe. The two looked up when T'Challa walked in, with a completed arm, built for Caitlyn specifically. T'Challa had the arm attached back on and had the girl move it. The teenager moved her arm around and she sat up fully, turning to Natasha and did the first thing she could think of, she slapped Natasha with her flesh hand.
"How dare you think of just killing yourself without any regard for us!? Do you know how much Bruce wanted you back!? Do you know how I almost used the gauntlet first!? I wanted to bring you back, so badly." Caitlyn screamed at Natasha. The pain of the events of the day, which was in reality, a week and a half ago. T'Challa stood there, semi-scared of what was going to happen. Natasha barely moved and just slowly got up and wrapped her arms around Caitlyn, holding the teenager close to her body.
"I know, дорогой, I know." The Russian spoke, knowing how her mother language would calm her, even slightly. Caitlyn curled into her, mumbling slurred apologies as she was enjoying Natasha's scent and her voice, it was like she was high, smelling and hearing her. Caitlyn believed that she would never get to hear her voice ever again. T'Challa slowly creeped out of the room, wanting to give the two soulmates time alone. The two just lied there, curled up to each other. The moment was ruined, however, when Tony and the team walked in.
Tony's arm was just an arm pulled from an Iron man suit that he didn't wear anymore and just used it as an arm until he finished building his own Iron Arm for himself. Morgan ran and jumped onto the bed and smushed herself in between the two women and just lied there. Morgan had missed her older sister, and she didn't mind Natasha. Pepper went to sit in a chair, while the team found themselves sitting on the floor, and Peter just made himself a hammock on the ceiling.
Tony was the first one to speak up. "How is the arm?"
Caitlyn just shrugged. "It works like my old one, looks cooler."
Peter finally spoke up. "We never got introduced, I-I'm Parker P-Peter." The teen was nervous, the same way he was nervous around Morgan as well. He was scared of messing up in front of Mr.Stark's daughters.
Caitlyn giggled, staring up at him. The room relished in the sound. "Hi, Parker. I'm Stark Caitlyn."
The room groaned except for Natasha, Peter, and Caitlyn. Peter stuttered a bit before sighing. "Are you sure you aren't genetically a Stark? You certainly act like one."
Caitlyn laughed, smiling widely. "I mean, all I know is my parents were snapped in the first snap and they're probably looking for me."
Tony looked down, biting his lip. "About that.."
Caitlyn looked over. "What?"
Tony walked over and grabbed her hands. "Caitlyn, your parents never returned.."
Caitlyn shrugged. "To be honest, I like this family more than my other one."
The group was surprised but not as surprised as they should've been, they understood that she didn't particularly like her family all that much. She leaned on Natasha while Morgan moved to sit on her lap. The group slowly started talking about the most recent plans in the future for what they were going to do. Caitlyn looked at Natasha when Clint tossed a bag to her. The girl was extremely confused as Natasha got up, gently pushing Morgan off of Caitlyn's lap. Morgan hurried over to sit in Tony's lap, giggling as she watched.
Caitlyn could practically feel the room tense up and she looked around, before gasping as she saw Natasha slowly drop to the ground, sitting on one knee. "Caitlyn Stark, please, do me the honors of being my wife?"
Caitlyn giggled and nodded, holding her hand out. "At least now it won't be awkward when we act like this in public."
