Belle & Sebastian
This band's discography is so long, I couldn't just take songs from all their albums and post them here lol
I'll be putting all their albums here and reasons why you might like them to make it easier:
Tigermilk (1996)
This album is great if you like acoustic songs with violin and piano that are also upbeat. There is one song in the very middle that might mess a bit with the general mood, but I really liked it so you might too!
If You're Feeling Sinister (1996)
This album is also acoustic but is a bit more mellow than Tigermilk, so it's nice to listen to when you just feel like sitting down and doing nothing.
The Boy With The Arab Strap (1998)
This one has a nice balance of upbeat to mellow also with lots of violin and piano, so if you like a bit of both you should consider this one.
Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant (2000)
This album has a bit of mixed reviews from fans, but I personally enjoyed it. Like the majority of their early albums, this one also has a lot of violin and piano, more than the majority of their other albums. This one has a few sad songs that I think stand out more than their others, which aren't normally as blatant, (e.g., SA, suicide and war) but there are definitely plenty of upbeat songs to lighten the mood.
Storytelling (2002)
This album is unique since it was made for a film of the same title, which means there's mostly instrumentals, but there are also a handful of songs with lyrics. You'll also find some dialogue audio from the movie in between the music, which could probably be skipped, but I think they add something to it in a way. This album is nice if you like listening to film soundtracks and happy songs.
Dear Catastrophe Waitress (2003)
This album is when they start to find a general theme of music that they mostly stick with for the rest of their albums, but I personally think the album after this is where they really find something to stick with. It's upbeat and has more fun than slow and mellow songs, but still spaces itself out pretty well. The main instrument in this album is guitar but also has some trumpet like most of their other albums, so if you like guitar consider this one!
The Life Pursuit (2006)
This one is super upbeat and only has about 3 mellow songs of the 13 on it depending on your definition, so if you want constant upbeat energy, this one is perfect for you. The lyrics are fun and there are plenty of songs to sing along to if that's your thing.
Write About Love (2010)
This one is very poppy with a good amount of mellow songs, that contrast nicely with the upbeat songs on it and are spaced out well. If you like pop music but are trying to get into something more alternative, this is probably a good place to start.
How To Solve Our Human Problems (Parts 1-3): (These are all EP's)
Part 1 (2017)
The first part is my personal favorite, it's very upbeat and of the 5 songs there's about one mellow one. If you want something light to listen to, try this one out.
Part 2 (2018)
Most of these songs are less light than part one but it also has more mellow songs than the last one. If you like more rough songs that are still polished, consider this one.
Part 3 (2018)
This one is also pretty light but also upbeat and decently poppy, so if you like that combination, check this one out.
A Bit Of Previous (2022)
This one has about half mellow and half upbeat, and it generally goes in the order of upbeat, mellow, upbeat, mellow and continued. If you like balance in your albums, this one is great.
Late Developers (2023)
This album's genre is listed as indie pop, which I think fits pretty well. This one has plenty of fun songs and also uses lots of keyboard, some songs more than others. If you like pop music with guitar and keyboard, give this one a try.
