Epilogue:Katora
"This frat party finna be lit." Aisha, one of Katora's newset friends, said while they sat in her apartment getting ready.
Ever since that incident with Zaire at the mall, Katora focused more on herself and her new friends. She even took the time to pledge in a sorority at the college. Life had just started for her. She didn't feel tied down or like the weight of the world was on her shoulders.
Dressed in a royal blue jacket, black crop top, ripped jeans, and black shoes Katora placed gold earrings in her ears. She had just gotten finished baking her face and added a touch of lipgloss. Her friends, Aisha and Brandi were still fixing their hair.
"I'm trynna get dicked down by a Que tonight." Brandi said making Katora laugh.
"Damn bitch, you can't chill with us for one night. Alway trynna be wild." Aisha said.
"Look, I'm here for a good time not a long time." Brandi teased while sticking her tongue out.
"Just promise me you won't get too drunk tonight." Katora asked her.
"Mhm, I ain't finna keep no promises."
A knock sounded at her door. Furrowing her eyebrows she left the girls in the bathroom and went to the front door. Looking through the peep hole she noticed Zaire standing outside her door.
"What are you doing here?" Katora asked as she opened the door.
Zaire looked at her outfit before licking his lips, "I broke up with Ryan. I realized I wanted you and not her. That day I saw you at the store you made my heart stop. Yeah Ryan makes me happy, but I love you."
Katora shook her head, "No Zaire. You need to go back home. You and Ryan are for each other. There's no sense in chasing after me."
Zaire rolled his eyes, "You still must be head over heels for that nigga DaVonte. Am I not good enough for you?"
"I haven't spoken to DaVonte in months. Hell, I haven't seen him and I don't want him. And yes seeing you with Ryan did something to me. But, I had to realize I could never love you the way you love me. I needed to find myself and now that I'm starting to finally come into my own, I don't need you." Katora said speaking the truth.
It would always be this way. Katora knew she shouldn't have been messing with two guys at the same time. She even lead on Zaire more than he needed to be and look where they both stood.
"Look Zaire, I'm sorry I lead you on for so long. I'm sorry I made you feel like shit. You're a good guy. One of these days you'll realize you don't need me. Let me go, Zaire. You'll find a woman whose all about you and I promise you that you'll be happy once you do." Katora told him smiling.
Zaire was shocked yet he was okay. He had finally heard what he needed to hear. Placing his hands into his pockets he flashed Katora his smile. "We can still be friends you know."
"Maybe. Now go fix your relationship." Katora shooed him away.
He chuckled before speaking, "Goodbye, Katora."
"Goodbye, Zaire." She watched him leave.
Returning into the apartment she smiled from ear to ear. Aisha and Brandi had heard their whole entire conversation. They rushed back to the bathroom acting like they heard nothing.
"What are you smiling for?" Brandi asked.
"I finally did something good. But I know ya'll was eavesdropping." Katora said laughing.
Katora and her friends finally made it to the party. She immediately started to mingle within the crowd and get into the music that was playing. Holding a red solo cup filled with jungle juice Katora winded her hips to the music.
Her and Aisha danced freely attracting attention. Katora didn't care, she was having fun dancing and meeting new people. She wasn't sad that she didn't get DaVonte or Zaire. They were both no good for her. And she needed to start taking care of herself now. Letting them both go caused Katora to finally be happy and enjoy her young life. She had found her place in life and she couldn't be more happier.
"Yo, yo, yo. Look." Aisha said pointing across the room to Brandi.
Katora watched as Brandi and a fraternity brother walk up the steps. Katora smirked as she caught Brandi's eyes. Katora held up her thumbs and Brandi waved back. Her friends were tripping.
"She did say she was finna get her a Que." Katora said sipping her drink.
"Meanwhile, you got eyes on you. Twelve oclock." Aisha said tilting her head to the side.
Katora looked through the crowds and finally found the pair of eyes watching her. She sent him and smile and then turned back to Aisha.
"Who is he?" Katora asked Aisha since she knew everyone on campus.
"That's Ramiek. You don't know him. He hella quiet but that nigga fine as hell. Look, here he come. Be cool." Aisha told her.
"Girl, I am calm. You the one all jittery."
"Wassup, I'm Ramiek." Ramiek said introducing himself as he gently held her elbow.
"Katora." She said smiling at him.
Katora found herself talking with him all night. They even danced to a couple songs too. She found herself laughing harder than she ever did hat her stomach was hurting. Katora found herself taking interest into Ramiek the more they talked. She would definitely play her card right with him.
