Chapter Three: Larissa

Larissa and Katora exited the car throwing the keys to valet, the two skipped the long line of people waiting to get into the club. Holding hands, Katora led them to the VIP area where their oldest sister, Shanell, was standing sipping on her champagne.

"Congratulations sis! It looks amazing in here." Larissa greeted her sister with a warm hug and a small kiss on the cheek.

"You actually came out tonight!" Shanell said proudly.

"I had to get away from home." Larissa spoke rolling her eyes.

Shanell nodded her head understanding. Katora and Shanell felt obligated to cheer their sister up after the stressful couple of months Larissa was having. From below the crowd admired the new club and brought drinks.

"You wanna do some tequila shots?" Katora asked raising her eyebrows.

Larissa hadn't did shots in years. "I'm down. Shanell you're the designated driver tonight if I get too wasted."

Katora led Larissa to the bar. Larissa ignored all of the hungry stares from the men in the club and decided to just focus on dancing her way to the bar. People made way for them at the crowded bar.

"When did you start doing hard liquor?" Larissa asked Katora.

"Since I started using fake ID's." Katora said sticking her tongue out and laughing.

"What can I get you ladies tonight?" The female bar tender asked passing someone a beer.

"A round of tequila." Katora shouted over the loud music.

The bar tender nodded her head and went to grab shot glasses. Returning a minute later she passed them the shots and went to attend others. Katora and Larissa each held their own glass.

"A toast to new things." Katora smiled.

Larissa smiled and they clinked the glasses together. Larissa threw the shot back and swallowed the alcohol. The burning sensation of the drink eased the mental pain she was feeling worrying about her problems.

"Damn you took it like a pro!" Katora says nudging her sister.

"Next rounds on me." Larissa spoke ordering another round.

Another round later Larissa held a slight buzz. Her and Katora danced during a few songs sometimes being accompanied by Shanell. The hours ticked by and eventually Larissa had forgotten about her husband.

"Some hot guy is coming your way right about now." Katora sluggishly spoke sipping on a cocktail.

Before Larissa could say anything she felt a polite tug on her arm. She turned around irritated. The guy flashed her a smile showing his bottom grillz. Larissa picked her eyes up and waited for the stranger to speak.

"Wassup ma?" The guy spoke drinking his beer.

"Look I already know you seen me from across the room and you been looking at me for a while. And on top of that you look a little too young to be trynna spit game at me." Larissa rolled her eyes and turned back around.

Katora watched the scene unfold. Rolling her eyes at her mean sister, Katora looked at the guys expression. Emotions of sadness flashed across his face until he smiled again and pulled on her arm.

"What man?" Larissa asked irritated.

"Damn, I ain't say I was trynna spit game. I just wanna talk to you."

Larissa noticed his eager persona and put her empty glass down. Katora had left knowing her sister was hooked up with some dude. Katora found Shanell talking to one of her executive assistants.

"Yo, code twelve." Katora spoke pulling Shanell to the balcony that overlooked the club.

"Huh?" Shanell asked forgetting the little teenage girl codes they all made when they were younger.

"Rissa just picked up a nigga. Look, right there." Katora found them sitting at one of the more private lounge areas smoking hookahs.

"He fine as hell though." Shanell says as Katora agrees.

Larissa sits comfortably in the lounge area as the dude that wanted to talk to runs his hands through his curly hair. They make eye contact and smile.

"So what's your name?" Larissa asks as the DJ changes the song.

"Chris. And you?" He runs his tongue over his grillz.

"Larissa. You from here?" Larissa asks sipping her water.

"Born and raised. I'm doin my last year at the university." He speaks.

"You are way too young for me." Larissa jokes.

THREE HOURS LATER

Larissa and Chris stand outside the closed club still talking. Shanell rubs Katora's back as she vomits on the sidewalk across the street.

"It was nice talking to you but I have to go." Larissa says checking her phone seeing the empty notifications log on her phone. Before she can make it to the car, Chris takes her hand lightly.

"Wait hol up a minute. Can I get your number so we can do lunch or something?"  Chris asks rubbing his goatee.

"I-I can't. For one I'm like four years older than you. And two I'm married." Larissa finally confesses.

"It seems like ya'll not even on good terms right now based on what I seen. Here just take my number and use it when you ready. I can wait." Chris says giving Larissa his number.

"Larissa come on!" Shanell shouts as Katora continues to vomit.

"Bye." Larissa says smiling weakly and walking away.

***

Larissa pulls into the driveway as the sun rises. Rubbing her sore eyes Larissa carries her bag and heels into the house. Sean is asleep on the couch with his phone in his hand and a empty whiskey bottle on the table.

She hears his phone go off and she swiftly takes it out of his hand and looks at the contact name. It's a unknown number. Larissa answers the phone but doesn't say anything. Her heart beats faster as she hears the female voice through the phone.

"Hey baby. Hello?" The woman says but quickly hangs up.

Larissa rolls her eyes and throws the phone on Sean's chest. He groans and sits up on the couch cracking his back. His eyes ignite with anger once he sees his wife and that she isn't wearing her ring.
