Chapter 1

I was sitting on the couch in a clutter of wedding things. Not just any wedding things. My sisters wedding things. When she got engaged six months ago she knew i was the one to plan her wedding. "Meg, who is the best wedding planner ever??" She purred over lunch. "Well if i say me am i being rude?" I asked smiling. "Not at all, of course it's you!" My sister Ellie gushed. "And what's your point?" I asked. "Well Hunter proposed to me. And we want you to plan the whole thing. You know i'm just so busy, and besides you can plan everything. It'll be perfect." She said holding out her hand so i could see her ring. "Oh, he has great taste." I said admiring the ring.

"I know right!? You like Hunter don't you?" She asked. "Of course he's very nice." And he was too. I just don't know what he saw in my sister. She was one of those high maintenance types. And i'm not sure if he knew it yet. But i guess if i'm planning a wedding he doesn't care.

"Now the big thing is, it's going to be a destination wedding." "A what?" My mouth fell open. "Don't worry you're going to be a bridesmaid, and you're planning the wedding so i'll pay for your ticket it's no problem." She said. "Well where are you going?" I asked. "Italy!!" She exclaimed. I frowned. I had always wanted to go to Italy. I loved to cook and wanted to take a cooking class. She knew that too. But i was  a good sister so  whatever.

And that's how i ended up in the clutter. It was probably one of the hardest weddings i'd ever planned. My sister wasn't terrible to work with but i'd also worked with about a thousand better people.

The problem with everything being in Italy was the Italian that i didn't speak. So when i found some venus. Only two of the ten i found spoke English. But the one Ellie and Hunter finally agreed on was really beautiful. My phone rang, and i pulled it from my pocket.

"Meggy, i need a favor." I sighed. "What is it? I'm kind of busy." "Ooh well, see we have to pick out the cake." "Okay?" I asked. "Well i can't have the cake shipped that would be just ridiculous so i had this bakery in Italy ship over some cakes. They are at Hunters." "I'm still not sure how i play in this. I asked you to take care of the cake so what do you need me for?" I asked.

"Well see i'm at work and i can't get off. And Hunter really shouldn't pick the cake out alone. I need you to help him." I sighed setting the stuff from my lap on the couch. "Okay, i'll go." "Thank you! You're the best bridesmaid, wedding planner and sister ever." I said. "Of course." I hung up and grabbed my keys from the bowl on the table.

I knocked on the door and Hunter let me in. "Thanks for coming. If i pick the wrong cake Ellie will never let me hear the end of it." "You're right about that. When i was ten she threw a fit because i had gotten a chocolate cake and she liked Vanilla." "And it was your birthday?" He asked. I nodded. "My dad ran out to the store and bought her a vanilla cake. He missed me opening my presents and blowing out the candles and everything." I said frowning. "That sounds like Ellie." He said nodding. "Sometimes i wonder what you see in her." I said quietly. "Oh here's the cake." He said pulling two forks from the drawer. I'm glad he didn't respond. I loved my sister i really did she just had a habit of being rather selfish. I'm hoping he just didn't hear me.

After we had tried all ten cakes, i pointed to the vanilla and salted caramel. "That one is my favorite." I said. "Yea, it was mine to. But i dont think Ellie would like the salted caramel." He said. "Probably not, but shouldn't you get one thing you want?" I asked. "Yes, i guess you're right." He agreed. "Okay great, i'll call the bakery. Did you go get fitted for your tux?" I asked. He groaned. "Yea i was kind of putting that off." He said. "Well the wedding is in two months. We need to do this. Come on you big baby i'll go with you." I said standing up. He rolled his eyes smiling. "What would i ever do without you?" He asked pinching my cheek playfully. "Wear your pajamas." I said raising an eyebrow. "Yes and i'd be buried in them as well when your sister kills me." I giggled. "True."

We got into his truck and headed to the tux shop. "Oh Ms. Malone. Are you here to check on the dress? It's almost done." The lady said greeting me. "Thank you, but Hunter needs a tux." "Okay please follow me right this way." She showed him a row of tuxes and told him to pick one while she went to grab her tape measure. "So Ellie insist i wear black. Anything else would just be putrid." He said miming Ellie quite impressively. I laughed clutching my sides. The girl came back and measured him putting down the black tux. He couldn't tell the difference in any of them so he just picked one. Hope that didn't bite him in the butt. We headed back home and i went home to finish the rest of the wedding things.

Ellie and Hunter were going to stay a week after the wedding for their honeymoon. I was going to fly in a day early to finish last minute wedding details. I had a shipping box with the name of the wedding venue. They knew to hold the box for me.

I ended up having to send multiple boxes. Ellie just kept changing her mind and adding more things. I was working on the garland when there was a knock on the door. It was Hunter. "Hey, i hope it's okay i'm just dropping by." He said. "No you're fine, whats up?" I asked. "Well i was worried about you doing all of the work yourself." He said. "That's sweet." I said. "I was going to see if you needed any help." He said. I pulled the door open. "That would be great." I said.

I offered him some tea. He was hesitant to take it. "Oh, this is actually delicious." He said surprised. "Shouldn't it be?" I asked. He shrugged. "I don't know your sisters tea is terrible." He said. "Oh, yea she can't cook." I said. "That's a shame because neither can i." He frowned. "I tried to teach her but she doesn't really have the patience" I said. "Yea that sounds like El." He nodded. I showed him what i was doing with the garland and that i'd need a lot. He started to help right away.

He looked at the tv at the movie i was watching. "This is my favorite movie!" He said. "No way! Mine too!" I said. "Yea and i can't get Ellie to watch anything like this." He frowned. "She's stuck in her ways what can i say?" I said. "Yea, this looks really good by the way." He said. "Thanks, i'm glad we're going to Italy. It's always been my dream." I said. "See mine too, but Ellie just wanted to go to the beach. I told her we'd find someplace to swim in italy. I had wanted to do this couples cooking class." He said. "Oh that's so fun!!" I said. "See that's what i thought she said that was rude because she knew i had only planned it because she couldn't cook!!" He said. "Bummer." I said. "Eh i booked it anyways. I'm hoping after the wedding she'll be so in love she'll change her mind." He smiled.

"What made you want to propose to her?" I asked. "She didn't tell you?" He asked. I shook my head. "No." "Well she had been pressuring me to ask her. And i figured if you've been dating a year then it makes sense..." He shrugged. I burst out laughing. "You sound like you really don't wanna get married." I said. "See i always thought when you found the right one you'd just know. I didn't just know. But i figured if i asked her it'd get her off my back right? Then we'd have a long engagement. But then she asked you to help. And i didn't want to be ungrateful you've been so great." He said. "I'm happy to help."  I said.

"I can tell you really love your job." Hunter said. "I really do! I always felt Ellie didn't really like her job." I said. "She hates it. She just does it because of the money." He agreed. "Well i don't know how that will pay off for her." I said. We finished the garland and moved onto the table arrangements. It was late when we finished.

I was just about to make dinner. "Why don't you stay for dinner?" I asked. "Oh no i couldn't impose." He said. "Please, you stayed late to help me it's the least i can do." I said. "Alright then, i'll stay." He said. "Thank you." "No problem." I said. I cooked chicken, macaroni, rolls and corn.

"This is amazing." He said. "Oh? Well thank you but i'm pretty sure it's all the eating out you guys do." I said laughing.  "You might be right, but for what it's worth this is good." He said. I was jealous of my sister. I admit it. She was getting married and could start a family.  And Hunter was great. I mean maybe the two of them not so much. I always imagined her with a guy who liked to tan and go to the gym. One who even liked to shop, or at least hold her bags and compliment her about how good everything looked on her. But what do i know.
