CHAPTER TWO
Kang Yeosang
"Are you free this afternoon?" Wooyoung chimes in, wrapping his arm around me while walking to my locker.
I shook my head, "Sorry Woo. I have to do something later," I answered him, opening my locker to pull out some book for my next class.
"Study again?" Wooyoung rolled his eyes at my reply. "Seriously Sangie, don't you have something better to do other than study?"
I sighed in irritation, "I'm going to meet Seonghwa at the gate later." I finally told him and his eyes widen brilliantly.
"You're finally having that time of your life, eh?" He said with a teasing tone and ruffled my hair to which I dramatically jerked his hand away from me.
"He's going to tutor me, that's it."
"That's surprising. You're like an Albert Einstein and he's—ummm—an average brain head, I suppose." He mumbled without any reluctance. "Why though?" He asked curiously.
"You know I am bad at Maths, and he's really good at that subject so he insisted on tutoring me."
"I didn't know he was good at Maths."
"I mean he is pretty smart."
"But could he top your grades? Never." Wooyoung snickers.
"But he could...in bed," I whispered for him not to hear the last part.
"What?"
"Moving on," I quickly changed the topic, "You do like dissing Seonghwa so much, don't you?" I chuckled.
He playfully scoffed, "I will stop dissing him when he gets that hole of yours." He teased and I could feel a sensation of heat spreading on my cheeks.
I snorted, "Like that's ever gonna happen."
Wooyoung tsked, "You don't really have faith in yourself, huh?"
"How can I? Firstly, I can't even keep up a conversation with other people and you think I can with him?"
"Well, you need to work on that obviously."
"That's the hard part, Woo. I can't even socialize, unlike my sister."
"That's the problem, Sangie. You keep comparing yourself to Lia. No wonder why you are losing against her."
I rolled my eyes, "Wooyoung, this is not a competition. I love my sister so much. If Seonghwa makes her happy, then..." I trailed off, not knowing how to end it.
"You'll be happy? Bullshit, Yeosang. You can't even say it."
I swallowed greedily as I took my seat beside Wooyoung.
Will I be really happy?
I'm having these mixed feelings. I can't help but feel bitter at the thought of Lia and Seonghwa together. I'm not going to lie it hurts me the most, but at the same time, I don't want to ruin their relationship. What kind of a brother am I if I do that?
Wooyoung spoke again, "You know Yeosangie, you should mentally prepare yourself. What if that time comes?"
I arched an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"
Wooyoung sighs.
"The time when Seonghwa will propose to her."
I laughed bitterly, "I highly doubt that. It's too early and they're still teenagers."
Wooyoung frowned and I suddenly feel the anxiety rushed inside my body as I was anticipating his next words.
"Yeosang..." Wooyoung trailed off.
"I overheard San that Seonghwa is going to propose to Lia tomorrow."
—
I slowly observed the water from the faucet running down the sink. I let out a heavy sigh and vigorously washed my hands. I gritted my teeth as I try not to let my tears fall, but I failed again.
I splash some water on my face to wash the new set of tears away. I looked at myself in the mirror, "Goodness, I look horrible." I said to myself.
Hearing that sentence from Wooyoung just stings my heart. I can't help but wonder, was Seonghwa really serious about marrying Lia?
Although Wooyoung asserted that he eavesdropped on Mingi and San's conversation. Seonghwa didn't say it himself, right? But how would I know? I'm not even close with Seonghwa. The thought of it already makes my head ache.
"Hey, you alright?"
I was startled to see Seonghwa tilting his head in concern. "Your eyes are red, were you crying?"
Why is he here out of all people?
I automatically stepped back and averted my gaze away from him to rub my eyes, and to hide it too.
"N-No. I-I'm fine." I stammered. "Something just went in my eye." I lied, hoping for him to believe it.
He stared at me for a little while before shrugging. He went to the sink to wash his hands.
Stupid! You're an idiot! I cursed internally. I feel like I've made a fool out of myself. He saw me crying, how embarrassing!
"No need to feel embarrassed." He chuckled as if he read my thoughts while he is wiping his hands on his pants. "Just let it out and it'll be okay." He flashed an assuring smile.
He just smiled at me.
"I-I-I-I..."
"You do stutter a lot. Do I make you nervous?" Seonghwa smirked after.
My heart just fluttered at what he said, he's teasing me at this point. My hands are trembling and I can't even control them.
"Shut up." All I could say.
Seonghwa couldn't help but laugh. He leaned his body on the wall while his arms crossed, looking so amused.
"I've known you since we were five, but I have never seen you blushing like this before." Seonghwa spats.
I glanced at him.
You've known me since we were five yet I've felt like I was just a stranger to you.
I realized what he said and immediately placed my hands on my cheeks. "It's just h-hot, y-y'know?"
"If you say so, Kang Yeosang." Seonghwa shook his head in amusement. "By the way--gate later, alright?" He reminded before leaving the bathroom.
I finally let out a heavy sigh once again.
That was nerve-wracking.
—
"Correct, once again," Seonghwa says after checking my solutions and answer. "You're pretty fast at solving and you managed to get the answer right."
I blushed at the compliment.
We're at his house since his parents left for work and wouldn't be back until midnight. A twenty-minute tutoring session with Seonghwa is better than Ms. Kim teaching the whole topic for an hour. Yunho is right. It is easier to understand the topic from Seonghwa.
"A-Ahh, it's just easy." I told him, scratching my nape timidly.
Seonghwa closes the book and leaned his arm on the table, supporting his head.
"Told you. You weren't just paying attention to the teacher's discussion. I guess someone must have been in your mind the whole time while she was discussing it."
I gulped at his words but smiled sheepishly. You're the one who is been on my mind lately.
"It's just hard, okay?"
"You said it was easy." He replied teasingly.
"It's hard when Ms. Kim discusses it." I aggressively defended.
Seonghwa runs his hand through his hair, "Whatever you say, Kang." He says while raising his left brow playfully.
I let out a sigh as I admire the view in front of me. Seonghwa is surely a good-looking guy. He's like the Eros in our school. Topping that with his cool and sexy personality. He isn't the campus' heartthrob for no reason.
Lia is really lucky to have Seonghwa as her boyfriend.
Speaking of that...
"U-umm, Seonghwa?" I called his name for him to face me.
"Hm?"
"Is it true that you're going to propose to Lia?"
I said without stuttering. Seonghwa seems to be caught off guard with my question.
"Where did you hear that from?"
"I-I-I---"
My eyes went wide when Seonghwa suddenly scoots towards me. Our faces were just a few inches away as he looked into my eyes. I felt his hot breath hitting my face and my heart starts to beat faster than ever.
He tilted his head to the side as he moved closer to my face. I instantly closed my eyes, waiting for his lips to be pressed on mine.
I felt his lips...not on my own, but near my ear.
"Yes, it's true...
..and you're dead to me if Lia finds out about this."
