CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Third Person

Minji was watching the two from their window. Yeosang and Seonghwa were peacefully sleeping in their embraces. The grey-haired woman smiled wholeheartedly when she saw her nephew slowly changing himself for the younger male. It was an improvement but, they only have limited time left.

The woman sighed as she checked the time on the clock at was hanging on Seonghwa's bedroom wall. It read 12:15 a.m.

"May 20, 2018." Minji muttered under her breath, "Twenty-six more days to go."

She glanced back at the two sleeping figures. "I trust the process, and I hope for the best."

Minji looked at Yeosang, remembering that moment when she saved him from that accident...

---- Flashback  [the accident]

The grey-haired lady appeared at the scene from nowhere as she knew this was going to happen. Minji stood in front of the two lifeless bodies. She walked over to Yeosang's as she examined the blood pouring on the ground and scratches visible on his cheek.

The woman tilted her head to the side and kneeled down, taking a good look on younger male's body.

"Kang Yeosang. Park Seonghwa's true soulmate."

Minji can never understand how her nephew could be so dense and oblivious. Seonghwa was feeling things ever since the beginning that he thought it was Lia's effect. Joohee and Hwaseong were stupid to realize and they were at fault too; they weren't supposed to force their son, they were suppose to guide him to his real soulmate.

Minji felt so bad for Seonghwa that he grew up loving the wrong person.

She placed her index and middle finger on the blonde's neck to feel his pulse and to Minji's surprise, Yeosang's heart was not beating anymore.

"He is dead." She gasped.

Minji knew she had to do something. So, she placed her hand over the younger male's forehead and chanted some spell in her mind. There was a bright light shining just below Minji's hand, indicating that the spell was working.

After a minute, she placed her fingers to check Yeosang's pulse one more time and she was relieved that it's beating again but faster than the normal pace.

"You should be fine by now."

The woman then glanced at Lia with no expression or sympathy.

She walked up to the unconscious girl, "You've been a very bad girl." She scoffed with a little chortle, "You clearly knew you weren't his soulmate yet you pushed yourself to act like one and had the audacity to tattoo Seonghwa's signature."

Minji kneeled down to check Lia's pulse, it was still beating but at a rapid pace. The lady was certain that Lia was not going to last long.

She stood up and dusted dirt off her white dress, "Unfortunate for you, darling. I don't save liars. Better get a doctor to save your life."

If Minji was going to be honest, she doesn't even have the power to save Lia because she's not technically connected to Seonghwa and the Parks. She was only able to revive Yeosang because he is Seonghwa's soulmate.

Well it's not like Minji wanted to revive Lia anyway.

The grey-haired woman took the phone from Lia's pocket and immediately dialed Seonghwa.

"Hello?"

"Hello, this is one of the investigators. Are you perhaps related to Kang Yeosang and Kang Jisu?"

"Jisu is my fiance and Yeosang is my brother-in-law. Why?"

Minji rolled her eyes but replied nonchalantly, "The two had a truck accident and the paramedics are on their way. I'll send you the address."

"Wait what!? What did you say---"

Minji ended the call, not wanting to hear her nephew's blow. She typed in the address and tapped send before giving one last look to the two bodies.

She disappeared out of sight and everything seemed to unfroze. The next happened was the driver of the truck went out of the vehicle. He ran to the scene and swore his eyes were about to pop off when seeing there are two people with pools of blood.

"What have I done? I didn't see them coming. I didn't mean to!" The man was panicking and he immediately called 911.

----

"Minji, what have you done this time?!" Joohee raged when she saw her sister's soul in the kitchen. Joohee and Hwaseong just went home after Lia's funeral and they were thankful that Seonghwa went to his friend's place so he wouldn't witness the drama.

The grey-haired woman played with her nails and went off the table she was sitting on to.

"Well, missy. That is not a nice way to greet your sister, isn't it?"

"What do you expect, Minji?! Do you want me to hug you after killing Lia?!"

Minji gasped dramatically and placed her hand on her chest as a sign of offence. "Wow, Joohee! You're accusing me for Lia's death now, huh?"

"Who would not? You're the one who is ruining everything! You are just thirsty for drama and you want to make our lives miserable!" Hwaseong argued as well, having enough of Minji's presence. "You are a monster! You killed Lia! You killed an innocent girl! You killed Seonghwa's soulmate!"

"It's not my fault that Seonghwa proposed to the sibling!"

The two were taken-aback on what they just heard, "W-What? Don't tell me..."

"You heard it right. So don't even blame me for everything that is happening in your family. That blonde Kang was almost dying inside because he had to witness his soulmate marrying his sister! You two are at fault!"

"How the fuck is it our fault when you are the one who cursed our son!"

"I cursed your son because I want to give him a better love life."

"And do you think there's any difference if Seonghwa chose to marry Lia?"

Minji smirked, liking where this was going, "You don't even know, do you?"

The two mortals exchanged glances, confused on what Minji was trying to say.

"What do you know?"

The woman crossed her arms, "Lia is not carrying Seonghwa's child."

Hwaseong fumed, "That can't be! Lia is still Seonghwa's soulmate. The mark says it all!"

"The mark?" Minji chuckles mockingly, "She had it painted on her skin. It's all fake."

The man had enough of it, "Are you trying to brainwash us? Minji, this is fucking absurd! You purposely changed the mark didn't you?!"

Minji rolled her eyes, "I wish I could do that but it's already fixed that Yeosang is Seonghwa's soulmate."

"Bullshit! I can't believe you're doing this."

"Blame yourselves. I've done my part and you're lucky that my non-existing heart felt bad for Yeosang. He was dead on the spot when I arrived at the scene. I revived him because he is the only key to break the curse. So if I were you, I would already set the marriage for Seonghwa and Yeosang because time is ticking. You don't want Seonghwa to be next in line, right?"

Minji let out a hysterical laugh and slowly disappeared out of Joohee and Hwaseong's sight.

Joohee ruffled her own hair in frustration as she took a seat down on the couch. Hwaseong walked back and forth, distressed and distraught.

"What are we going to do? Seonghwa's life is at stake!"

"I think it's better if we follow Minji's advice." Hwaseong suggested.

Joohee didn't seem to buy it, "Are you crazy?! You do know how Minji is capable of--"

"Honey, trust me." Hwaseong held his wife's hands, "This is only our last shot. Yes, it will be scary to take the risk but Yeosang is our only hope to keep Seonghwa's safe."

"Aren't we too selfish? I don't want to drag Yeosang into this. What if--"

"It is selfish of us but I don't want to lose our son. Plus, we only need them to tie the knot and the curse will be hopefully broken. Isn't that the main objective?"

Joohee was about to answer him but her eyes immediately widen when she saw a huge graffiti on the wall and it looked like it was drawn with blood.

"What is that?!" She pointed at the drawing which made Hwaseong to divert his gaze to the wall.

Hwaseong was terrified for he doesn't know where it came from but, one thing for sure it came from Minji.

The drawing on the wall said: SHOOT.

"Shoot?" Hwaseong carefully read.

What Joohee thought it will be a possible cause of death for Seonghwa if he didn't marry Yeosang.

But little did they know that it was just warning for them.

In the end, a shooting accident occurred.

---- End of Flashback [present]

Minji teleported back to her chambers after paying a little visit to Yeosang and Seonghwa's house. She bit her lip and her feet dragged her into some room to check on some item that is really important.

And there it was, a twenty-year-old caged rose that indicates the curse...

There were twenty petals, and eighteen of them fell hastily because of the marriage

Two petals are only left which symbolizes two values that Seonghwa had not shown yet.

If these fell, that means that the curse is entirely broken.

And these two petals should fall before Yeosang's birthday.

Or else he will die on the same day.

Minji noticed that there is only limited time for Seonghwa to prove those values.

She grabbed her phone and dialed that person she always trusted the most.

"Is the plan working?"

A voice spoke through the line, "Yes, mother."

"Very well." Minji snickered, patiently waiting for everything to go downhill.
