CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Third Person
Yeosang couldn't process anything. He was just standing there with his eyes wide open, feeling the elder's soft lips pressing onto his own.
Seonghwa just kissed him. Again.
That's the second time Seonghwa has kissed him, and Yeosang swore he missed his lover's lips. He never knew that he was craving for it. All Yeosang felt was euphoria at the moment and he never wanted it to end.
But that euphoric feeling washed away when the blonde physically felt a familiar stinging sensation on his hip, the same hip where the tattoo was marked.
Knowing the blonde's pain, Seonghwa felt Yeosang's small yelp so he wrapped his arm around his husband's waist, securing him in place while deepening the kiss.
Yeosang shuts his eyes as he was gripping Seonghwa's black t-shirt, holding onto him because of the pain on his hip. He felt like he was having an inflammation of gastritis and he hated it because it is excruciating. Therefore, he couldn't enjoy the kiss.
His body was heating and sweating, trying to endure the pain but he was frail.
After a fifteen-second kiss, Yeosang's body gave up and luckily Seonghwa caught him before he passed out.
"Yeosang?" The elder shook Yeosang's body, obviously worried for his husband's condition. Seonghwa suddenly felt guilty but he had no choice for it could be the answer to his question.
The latter carried the blonde and laid him on the bed beside him. Seonghwa turned on the A.C. to its highest mode to it would cool the younger's body. Then, he grabbed a random shirt and wiped Yeosang's sweat on his forehead and his pale chest.
As Seonghwa was wiping the younger's sweat, he could finally see the mark on Yeosang's hip.
Seonghwa traced the mark on the unconscious male's hip that is now much longer than the previous one. He noticed that Seonghwa's initials were also painted on Yeosang's skin which made the older confused yet relieved.
The mark is now complete.
He heard groaning from the younger so he gazed back to Yeosang's eyes.
"What happened...?" Yeosang asked as soon as he opened his eyes.
"You passed out and I think it's because of how you endured the pain to get this mark."
Yeosang sat up in an abrupt manner when seeing the mark, it freaked him out. "W-W-What does this mean? Why do I have this? What do you know about this?"
Seonghwa sat on the bed and gently pushed Yeosang's body down, "Lay down, you might faint again," Yeosang complied but was still utterly confused on what was happening.
First, Seonghwa kissed him almost so casually, then took care of him, then getting a longer mark, then passing out. It occurred so fast that the blonde wasn't able to comprehend everything.
"Let me ask you, Yeosang. Since when did you have did mark and why didn't you tell me?" The taller questioned.
Yeosang placed his hand on his forehead while shutting his eyes close, "Since the wedding. When you kissed me at the altar. It was also painful, but not as painful as today. And I promised, I tried telling you but with the events happening? I wouldn't have the time."
Seonghwa stood up and paced back and forth in frustration but decided not to show it, so he said in the most possible calm tone, "Don't you get paranoid why a mark could magically appear on your hip out of nowhere? Or rather think that this might be part of my family history? This is important to me, Yeosang."
"I thought of that, Seonghwa. It's always a bad timing, I swear." Yeosang reasoned, distressed.
The black-haired sighed, "Please get ready in five. We are going to my parents' place." He finalized before leaving the younger male's room.
But you didn't even answer my questions. Yeosang thought before letting out a huff. The blonde shook that thought away and begun to remove his grey pajamas, changing into some black hoodie with matching sweatpants.
Yeosang sighed in despair, he's so tired from what happened a while ago: Hana, Seonghwa, Jongho, his condition, and now the mark. All he wanted to do was sleep it off and but apparently wasn't able to.
Yeosang went out of his room and spotted Seonghwa's silhouette on the edge of the door, assuming that he's going to the garage to start his car. The blonde followed the elder and got inside the car.
As Seonghwa was starting his car, Yeosang didn't hesitate to ask, "What do you know about the tattoo and why should we go to your parents' house?" The raven-haired didn't answer, focusing on driving his car backwards to exit the garage.
After a few minutes, he answered: "That is not a tattoo. That is my signature. You can see my initials at the bottom." He explained while his eyes are focused on the road.
"It's a soulmate mark. Lia had that too however, she didn't feel any pain and she showed me her mark the day after we kissed. Which is why I am so skeptical about yours. You are my soulmate's brother, but why did you receive the same mark as hers?"
Yeosang shrugged, "Why are you asking me when I have no clue? Heck, I didn't even know Lia has a mark. Was it on her hip too?"
"No. Hers is located at the ribcage. It's small so it is not noticeable."
But she didn't even tell me anything. Yeosang thought.
"Anyway to answer your other question, we need to go to my parents because I'm sure they know all about this." Seonghwa added.
"But can't it wait till tomorrow? I'm sleepy." Yeosang pouted, leaning his head on the seat as his eyes were about to shut close.
Seonghwa glanced to the side to see how drained and lethargic the younger was, so he pressed the brake to stop the car and grabbed something from the backseat.
"Why'd you stop?" Yeosang asked, still in the same position.
The elder didn't answer but instead grabbed a fluffy blanket and placed it on Yeosang's body, tucking him into place. Seonghwa adjusted the blonde's seat down so the latter can lay his back properly and comfortably.
"Their house is still far ahead so take a nap. I know you are tired." Seonghwa told him, setting his gaze back to the road.
Yeosang yawned and whispered, "Why are you so sweet?"
Seonghwa gazed back to his husband who fell into his sleep. He heard the soft snores coming from the younger and Seonghwa couldn't help but coo at the sight.
"Sleep well."
----
"Wake up. We're here."
Yeosang whined softly and slowly opened his eyes to see that they already arrived at the Parks' residence. He adjusted his seat upwards and took off his seatbelt while Seonghwa instantly went off the car.
As Yeosang hop down and closed the door, the two were greeted by Seonghwa's mother who tackled both of them into a hug.
"How are you and what brings you two here?" Joohee asked as soon as she pulled away from Yeosang.
"We are fine. Can we talk inside, Mom?"
She nodded, "Of course. Come in."
Yeosang took his first step inside the mansion and he just realized how huge it is. It's even bigger than his own. Every item he sees seemed like it cost an arm and a leg; the fragile vases, the vintage costly paintings and the chandeliers that may be made out of real gold and crystals.
"I feel like a peasant for a second." He murmured to himself and heard Seonghwa snort at his little joke.
"Sit here while I get you something to drink."
Seonghwa was quick to interrupt, "No need, Mom. It won't take that long. Where's dad by the way?"
"He's in his room resting, darling. You know he has not recovered from the shooting accident. Anyway, what brings you here?"
"Mom, can you tell me more about the soulmate mark?"
Joohee froze on the spot, "W-Why?"
Seonghwa held the younger's arm and lifted his hoodie up to show the mark to Seonghwa's mother. "Mom, what is the meaning of this? Why does he have the same mark as Lia's?"
Joohee was surprised to see the mark and covered her mouth in pure shock. "Oh my god."
"What is the matter?" The two questioned in unison.
"No way," Joohee stood still then motioned them to sit down the couch then held both of their hands, "Seonghwa...Yeosang honey, I want you two to listen to me carefully."
"What's going on, Mom? Is there a meaning behind this?"
"Relax Seonghwa..." Yeosang tried to calm the older down while caressing his back.
The woman took a deep breath before speaking.
"Before your dad and I set the arrange marriage for you two, we discovered something not so good."
The two grew confused on what she meant.
"We had Lia's body autopsied and they found out that Lia's mark is not a real soulmate mark, but a literal tattoo."
Seonghwa fell silent. His mouth opened but closed for he couldn't say anything. He was shocked but felt at most betrayed.
Yeosang, on the other hand, had his mouth wide open in realization on what his mother-in-law had just told them.
All this time...I'm Seonghwa's soulmate?
"LIA WHAT?!" The raven-haired abruptly stood up in disbelief.
"Seonghwa, I'm so sorry--"
"So that means..." Seonghwa trailed off upon realizing, "No! I don't believe it!"
His mother stood up and tried to cup her son's cheeks but he instantly jerked away.
"Tell me you're lying, Mom."
Johee pursed her lips as she shook her head.
Seonghwa scoffed, throat starting to sore on how many lies and secrets he had discovered today.
"Tell me what else are you hiding, Mom?"
She took a step forward to hug her son who was sniffling. "Seonghwa, we hid it from you because you weren't ready. You weren't ready to know the truth because we knew how much you loved Lia. So we made up a story to convince you to marry your real soulmate and get us out of that curse--"
"THAT FUCKING CURSE! Who cares about that fucking curse?! You lied to me!"
"Seonghwa, it's for your own good--"
"No, Mom. It's only for your sake! All you only care about is that curse! You don't know how much it is hard for me to accept her death yet you still persuade me to marry her brother by lying to me! Almost everyone lied to me! Lia, my friends, you and even my own husband. Am I just a joke to you all? Don't you even care on what I feel? Don't I deserve to be happy? Do I even deserve to be loved?" Seonghwa ranted off. His body dropped down to his knees and gripped his hair out of anger as he cried his tears out. "I want to be a good son to you but I feel like I'm being controlled, that every path I take is a matter of life and death. I just want peace and to love freely. I feel like I caused problems to you and dad. Sometimes I wished I wasn't even born."
Yeosang stood there as he felt pity for the elder. As much it hurts him right now, he doesn't want to argue back nor even complain. The blonde didn't even noticed that a tear already dropped down from his eyes.
Joohee knelt down to level herself to her son and hugged him while balling her tears out, "Shhh, I'm sorry you felt that way, my love. I'm so sorry for causing you pain. I just want to let you know that you are the most precious person in our lives. You are worth it. You are worthy. You deserve nothing but happiness." She sniffs in between her sentences and cupped his cheeks, "Honey, you just need to understand that we are doing this for you because we are afraid to lose you. Our situation is crucial. You do not know how much this is hard for us to take in."
Seonghwa held his mother's wrists and pulled them away. He stood up and looked at his mother with gritted teeth, "If you really want me to be happy then I want one thing."
Joohee stood up while looking into her son's eyes, "What is it?"
Seonghwa glanced at Yeosang for a while then finally made his decision.
"I want a divorce."
