CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
Third Person
"Seonghwa, are you okay?" Hongjoong asked when seeing his friend's face, "You have been spacing out since we first got here." He added with a hint of worry.
The mentioned male woke up from his clouded thoughts and glanced at his blue-haired friend. He sighed and nodded in reply. Good at reading facial expressions, Hongjoong doesn't seem to be convinced. The look on the elder's face says it all but the younger decided not to go further.
"I heard Hana got suspended." Mingi started the conversation while chewing his food.
Seonghwa scoffed when he heard the girl's name, "Serves her right."
"I still wonder why would she do that though." Mingi shrugged while swallowing his food down, "Especially to Yeosang. She never went that far."
Hongjoong rolled his eyes, "She likes Seonghwa. Didn't you see the way she acted around him yesterday? Are you guys that dense?"
"Damn, she's plain delusional. I still can't believe Yeosang called her out publicly. He's so cool." Mingi praised.
"I know right?"
The three diverted their attention to San coming to their table.
"Yah, Choi San. Where were you a while ago?" Mingi asked, shifting his seat to the right to give San some space to sit.
"I tried contacting Jongho but he's really not answering." San pursed his lips into a thin line.
"How come?" Seonghwa asked this time.
San and Hongjoong deadpanned.
"Obviously he thinks you're gonna beat the shit out of him." San said with an eye roll.
"Why would I?" Seonghwa plainly muttered, looking down to his food and lacking ornamentally set his side dishes aside.
The three looked at the elder surprisingly. Seonghwa is known to be abrasive and aggressive when it comes to people who hurt or betray him. No wonder why Jongho kept a one-meter distance from Seonghwa because of the elder's behavior towards to traitors. Seonghwa admits that it is true, but now he doesn't want to fight anymore. He's tired and drained from what he learned yesterday.
"So...you won't punch him or kick his ass or give him a taste of his own medicine, right?" Hongjoong asked Seonghwa pertaining to Jongho, making sure of it because he definitely don't want to see his friends fighting over something.
He lethargically nodded, "Yeah."
"That's good but like...why the sudden change?" Mingi curiously asked.
Seonghwa placed his fork down and leaned his back against the chair while placing his hands inside the pockets of his black leather jacket.
"It already happened, so what's the point fighting over something that is over a month ago?" Seonghwa blankly replied.
The three were stunned.
"Plus, I could feel Jongho is already regretting it. I wasn't that surprised either. I knew how close they were but...I don't know. I guess I didn't seem to mind?"
Hongjoong has his jaw dropped at his friend's remark. "Seonghwa, Lia cheated on you with your best friend and you don't mind?"
Seonghwa glared at the younger, "Of course I fucking mind. What I meant was I don't mind that Lia and Jongho are close since they are classmates. Yet, Lia cheating on me with Jongho, that never crossed my mind. I trusted Jongho but now, that seemed to fade away."
"Jongho did regret it, Seonghwa. What happened to them was an accident." San suddenly confessed even though it was not his place to tell.
"An accident?" The eldest cocked an eyebrow.
"They were both drunk. That's all I'm going to say." San said before taking a piece of meat of Mingi's plate.
Seonghwa hated it. San's words left him hanging and dumbfounded but understood either way. He didn't know if he should feel relieved 'cause Lia and Jongho never intended to cheat/betray him. Nonetheless, he deserve an explanation from Jongho and also deserve an acceptable reason too.
"Invite Jongho to the party later." Seonghwa spoke and continued to eat his food.
"What?!"
Seonghwa swore he could count how many times they reacted with such surprise today.
And then there's Hongjoong, "There's a party later?"
Mingi, known for being outgoing and loves going to parties, of course he would know all the details, "There's one later at Sunwoo's place."
"Dude, we just went to one like last week."
"More parties means more fun."
"I can't relate." Hongjoong replied with a shrug, "Anyway, Seonghwa...I think it's not a good idea to invite Jongho--"
"Why do you think so?"
"Jongho told me he doesn't want to go to parties anymore because of what happened at Hwang's place. He's afraid to make the same mistake again." San answered for Hongjoong.
Seonghwa nodded, "I see. I only wanted to see him to get an explanation from him. Nothing violent." He muttered then took out his phone to see if there are any notifications or text messages.
The three looked at each other before Hongjoong, "We'll see what we can do. Just don't hurt him please if ever he comes."
Seonghwa only hummed in reply, still focusing on his phone.
"Let's have some fun tonight. San my friend, you ready to meet some hot guys?" Mingi asked his only bisexual friend since the two are 'straight' and he couldn't relate.
"Pass. I actually have someone in mind." San remarked with a snicker.
"You do?"
"You serious? I hope it's not one of your flings." The blue-haired rolled his eyes. "Is it a guy or a girl?"
San shook his head with a small chortle, "Guy. And I'm really serious about him. I think I might want to ask him out."
"Dude, who is the lucky guy?" The tallest nudged San's shoulder in a teasing manner.
The pink-haired darted his gaze to Seonghwa with a little smirk forming on his mouth and it did went unnoticed by Seonghwa since he's too busy with his food and phone.
"It's Yeosang."
"Kang Yeosang?!" Mingi reacted.
"Lia's brother?" Same goes to Hongjoong.
My husband? Seonghwa dropped his fork and abruptly faced San with wide eyes.
"No."
They all looked at Seonghwa.
"That's Lia's brother, so no."
The three exchanged glances.
"Exactly. It's Lia's brother, not Lia. Why are you pressed about it?"
Seonghwa bit his inner cheek for he didn't know the reason why he's against it.
"You can date anyone but Yeosang, okay?" He refused to meet his eyes with San's
"Why are you acting like this? Do you...perhaps like Yeosang too?"
"No! No, I don't. That's ridiculous." Seonghwa replied in irritation and was quick deny, "I just don't trust you with him." He tried to reason.
San was taken-aback but scoffed, "Wow. That's offensive." He placed his hand on his chest, "But that's not going to stop me. I like Yeosang and I want to court him."
Seonghwa groaned and stood up from his seat, "Do whatever you want. I don't think Yeosang even likes you more than a friend."
San gritted his teeth and stood up as well, facing his friend sternly, "Are you jealous, Park Seonghwa?" He said his full name as voice went a little dark and intimidating.
"Me? Jealous? Why would I be?" Seonghwa's words came out in a mocking manner.
"I was supposed to send Yeosang home but you were there, talking such things like 'it's my responsibility to take him home' as if you're his husband." San mimicked Seonghwa's words yesterday in a high pitched voice, mocking the elder back.
Seonghwa stiffened when he heard the word husband coming out of San's mouth. For obvious reasons, it made him nervous and agitated.
The raven-haired decided cut the conversation short, so he grabbed his bag and sling it on his arm.
"See you at the party." He said before leaving their table.
The three watched their friend's figure slowly getting out of sight. San chuckled in satisfaction and grinned victoriously. Meanwhile, Mingi and Hongjoong were absolutely confused on what the two were talking about.
"One point for Sannie. Zero for Seonghwa."
----
Time went fast for Seonghwa 'cause it's already 6 p.m. and he and his friends had to be in Sunwoo's place by 6:30.
He was all dressed up in all black: black ripped jeans, black shirt, black leather jacket, and black boots to match his jet black hair.
When he went out of his room, he spotted the blonde in the living room with his Airpods on while studying. Just seeing Yeosang made him remember San's confession a while ago at the cafeteria.
Yeosang and San.
Until now, he still did not know why it bothers him.
Seonghwa's heart is locked, so he went with the idea that he's protecting Yeosang like his own little brother.
"Hey, I'm going out." He told the younger.
Yeosang looked up to meet his eyes with Seonghwa's, "Okay. What time will you be home?"
"Midnight probably."
"Okay."
After that, Seonghwa left the house.
----
Seonghwa wasn't enjoying the party at all. The thought of San trying to court Yeosang was still lingering in his mind, no wonder why his friend was acting all kind and gentle towards his husband. The elder doesn't seem to mind at first but now, it's irritating him.
He haven't seen Jongho either, probably not ready to face him for what he did. He understood why anyway, although it still pisses him off.
He huffed out once again before taking a sip of his shot of vodka. He did not want to get wasted because he needed to drive himself home, he made sure he knows his limits. Yet, the more the clouded thoughts he has, the more he drinks as a relieve of stress...which is definitely bad.
The raven-haired questions why and how did San began to like Yeosang? Why is it hard for him to accept it? Was it because Yeosang is his legal husband? But they don't love each other in the first place so that doesn't give him any right...to be jealous?
For sure Yeosang doesn't have feelings for me. It was all Seonghwa thought.
"I can't have feelings for him. I'm not gay." He tried to tell himself, although his feelings may 'think' different than what he says.
"Penny for your thoughts?" San appears all of a sudden, slipping a coin inside the elder's leather jacket. He was beside Seonghwa while the younger was sipping his martini.
Seonghwa rolled his eyes before taking one whole glass of vodka.
"Woah, slow down." San said in concern for his friend.
"Why Yeosang?" Seonghwa brought up, refusing to meet his eyes to San's.
San genuinely smiled at the name, "Well, he's really cool and a softie. He's gorgeous and he has it all. He's kind, beautiful, thoughtful, savage, caring, intelligent, and name it all. Who wouldn't fall for a guy like him?"
Seemingly weird for Seonghwa but he agrees to all what San has said about Yeosang.
"I'm really serious on courting him. I don't need your opinion about it." San clicked his tongue.
"Do whatever you want. I don't care." Seonghwa knew it was far from the truth.
"Look, you don't have to deny that you like Yeosang too."
"That's because I don't even like guys."
"Yeosang is definitely an exception. I could see the way you would stare at him, Seonghwa. It's more than you call it a 'brother'."
Seonghwa gulped upon his words because at this point, he is really conflicted on how he truly felt right now.
San smirked as he raised his glass up.
"Let's see who would win Yeosang's heart first. May the best man win."
----
Seonghwa came home from the party. Checking the clock that is now exactly 12 midnight. When he entered his home, he saw that the living room lights were still on. He presumed Yeosang is still awake studying, he guessed.
And he was correct. He saw the blonde lying on the couch, not because of studying but he was sleeping. Seonghwa lips creeped out a small smile. Seeing the pout on the younger's lips and his thin round glasses almost falling from his nose made the elder coo at the sight.
Seonghwa scooped Yeosang's legs and carried him in his arms. Seonghwa was tipsy and he didn't know what he was doing, his mind was half-conscious.
Seonghwa took the blonde to his own room. He was thankful he was in deep sleep 'cause he did not want to wake Yeosang up. The taller carefully placed Yeosang on the bed, also carefully swiping his bangs away from his face.
The raven-haired begun to take his jacket and shirt off. He also undo his belt because he felt uncomfortable. He laid down beside Yeosang. Seonghwa thought he woke the younger up but sighed in relief when Yeosang's body shifted to the other side, his back was now facing Seonghwa.
He thought he's not going to remember any of this tomorrow. He can just use his slightly drunk state as an excuse. So Seonghwa wrapped his around his husband's waist and rested his chin on the top of the younger's head. Seonghwa never felt comfortable in such a long time, and he wanted to enjoy it the feeling.
He doesn't want it to last.
"You're mine."
Not San's, but mine.
