CHAPTER FOURTY-NINE
Third Person
Being surrounded by girls was not Yeosang was expecting.
It started with Literature class where the girls started to ask such questions and their concerns for Yeosang. They were about ten girls in his class and more from the Freshmans. The blonde could tell that they are Seonghwa's fangirls. It still exists in college, even Yeosang couldn't believe it.
"Are you okay, Yeosang-ssi?"
"How do you feel?"
"We're so sad to hear that you've had that accident!"
"How does it feel to be Seonghwa's husband?"
"I can't believe you two are together! I'm a fan of BL!"
"How did you make Seonghwa fall for you?"
"Yeosang-ssi, was Seonghwa oppa good in bed?"
Gosh, what kind of a question is that?
Every bark from the girls were getting too personal. It was overwhelming for Yeosang. He never liked attention, especially from girls invading his personal space.
It was draining for him to answer every question, except for the ones that are over the limit. He wanted to get away as soon as possible. He was thankful it's dismissal time but more girls are surrounding him during this time, making it much harder to run away from them.
"Girls, I really need to go now--"
The girls formed little pouts on their faces, some were disappointed because their questions weren't answered. "But oppa, we wanted to know how did you guys got together!" One female freshman almost seemed demanding for an answer coming from the blonde.
Yeosang let out a desperate sigh, knowing these girls wouldn't listen to him.
"Excuse me, ladies. May I borrow my husband for a bit?"
Everyone turn their heads to see who that voice belongs to.
The girls squealed in giddiness when they saw Seonghwa smiling. They instantly made way for Seonghwa to walk towards Yeosang. The crowd full of girls couldn't help but coo at the sight of Yeosang and Seonghwa locking into each other's eyes with endearment.
"Let's go." Seonghwa mouthed, grabbing the hand of his husband and pulling him away from the crowd.
The girls did not follow, thankfully. They were too immersed by the cute scene.
The couple fastened their pace through the hallways then outside the school's premises. They immediately entered Seonghwa's car, with the elder on the driver's seat and Yeosang on the shotgun seat.
They looked at each other momentarily. The sunset going down is making the sun shine brighter than before, shining against their faces, making it look like it's sunkissed. It was beautiful, such a beautiful moment to look at.
"Are you okay?" Seonghwa asked, making sure that Yeosang didn't feel too overwhelmed by the girls' questions earlier on. He didn't want to risk the blonde having another panic attack.
But Yeosang was more than okay to know that Seonghwa was there the rescue him before that could happen, "I am. Thank you, Hwa."
Seonghwa shot him his genuine smile, taking the younger's hand and kissed it for a brief moment. "Glad to hear that. I want to take you somewhere, love."
"Where to?"
A cheeky smile was visible on the raven-haired's face, "You'll see."
Yeosang decided not to question it further and let Seonghwa surprise him. Whatever it is, as long as it is Seonghwa...he'll never be disappointed.
----
About an hour and thirty minutes had passed and they arrive into a place which Yeosang had never seen or been before.
Seonghwa quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car. Yeosang did the same, but was in awe by the wonderful blue sky that was set above him.
He checked the time on his watch... 6:51 p.m.
"What is this place?"
"We're on a cliff, love. Aren't the stars beautiful?" Seonghwa intertwined their hands together, pulling him down to sit on the ground.
"They are." Yeosang answered, remaining the same expression on his face.
Seonghwa giggled lightly, "Remembered the time when we watched the stars at Grandma's house? I never thought that my wish on the star would come true."
Of course Yeosang would recall. He would never forget that day. And he would never thought that his wish would also come true.
"Mine too. I thought I'll forever regret it but sometimes...everything happens for a reason."
"What was your wish?" Seonghwa couldn't help but ask, wanting to know what was the younger's wish since he didn't mentioned anything during Grandma's house.
Yeosang heaved a sigh, "Wishing I could be in Lia's place."
"How come?"
Yeosang stretched a small but sad smile, "Ever since we were kids, I've always been jealous of her. She had a better social life, she was my parents' favorite, she is loved by everyone, and of course...she had you."
Seonghwa felt his heart ache by the words he told him. He never once thought Yeosang would feel this way, and he internally scolded himself for being blinded by Lia. Well, it wasn't Lia's fault in the first place--it is just that, he lacks care for other people...and that includes Yeosang.
Seonghwa pulled the younger closer, encircling his body while Yeosang lifted his arms to wrap around the other's neck as an instinct.
"I'm sorry that I act careless towards you, but deep inside I really care about you a lot. I just don't show it because you're always distancing yourself away from me, I sometimes thought you're afraid of me. Little did I know, you're distancing yourself so I can be with Lia..."
Seonghwa leaned in to peck Yeosang's bottom lip.
"But I'm here now, I'm making up to you. I'll prioritize you and our future. I'll promise you, we will create the best moments of our lives together where we live the happiest and the fullest, just like you wished."
Streaks of tears were already evident on Yeosang's gorgeous eyes. "Am I dreaming?"
Seonghwa shook his head, finding it cute and amusing, "Love, you're not. I'm real. We're real."
Yeosang didn't hesitate to connect their lips for a long and passionate kiss. Seonghwa gladly responded, loving the euphoric feeling that he wished would last forever. They were both contended that their wishes came true and now...
They are ready to take the next chapter of their lives together.
As the kiss was ongoing, a beautiful iridescent shooting star waved through the sky, making the scene much more magical and special.
A happily ever after exists after all.
----
It was 12:23 a.m.
San checked the clock on the wall.
They were under the thin sheets to protect their naked bodies from the cold. They stayed like this embracing each other's arms after their third round of making love.
Wooyoung smiled wholeheartedly, feeling loved by the affection that San was giving him. He wished he could stay like this forever. It feels so good to be true.
San on the other hand, was anxious. He knew it's the right time to tell his boyfriend.
The elder fixed his gaze to the latter, who was tracing circles on San's chest. San can't help but scrutinize the younger's delicate features; his eyes, his lips, his smile...and the cute mole imprinted under his left eye. Everything about Wooyoung is angelic. San can't believe that this person in front of him right now...loves him so dearly.
And it's making it harder for San to tell him.
Wooyoung noticed the other's tensed expression. His hand went up to trace San's defined jawline.
"Sannie? Are you alright?"
"Wooyoung-ah," San's raspy voice sends shivers to the latter's spine, it gave him goosebumps on how deep and sexy San's voice was.
"Y-Yes?" Wooyoung stuttered, his body submits to the elder just by his voice. Yet, it intimidated him and concerned him when San's facial expressions changes within a second.
San couldn't even bring up his secret. He never wanted to wipe the smile off his boyfriend's face. It aches his heart. It hurts to know that he will be leaving his baby...probably for good.
Wooyoung sat up as blankets were falling to his waist. "San? Do you need to tell me something?"
The pink-haired sat up as well. His eyes viewing the shiny moon through the window. His hands able to take of his gloves to show Wooyoung his two faded hands.
The younger gasped, "What...? Where's your other hand? I thought...? You told me that it's going back to normal?" Wooyoung couldn't even form concise sentences as he was so shocked with the invisibility of his boyfriend's hands. "Did you...lie to me?"
San bit his lip. No...he never wanted to.
"Bub, let me explain."
Wooyoung saw the apparent tears on San's eyes, which was surprising. He never seen him cry...ever.
"Then explain why you lied to me." Wooyoung had a vague hint of hurt in his voice, but at the same time, he didn't want to show his disappointment to the elder.
But San noticed it, and it is making him even more anxious.
"I wanted to stay with you, baby. I can't leave you." San wrapped his arms around the boy's shoulders, slightly pecking his skin. "I never wanted to lie. It's just that...I can't bring myself to tell it you."
"What do you want to tell me, San?" Wooyoung's voice went deeper and colder. "Please stop beating around the bush. Tell me."
San brought his hand up to the younger's cheek to connect their eyes, but Wooyoung avoided eye contact by looking down.
"Please look at me, bub." San's voice went weaker.
Wooyoung gulped, finding it hard to fix his gaze to the elder.
"I'm so sorry." San started off, "I-If I don't go back to Mother, I'll disappear soon. That's why my hands are still glitching...because it's going to fade. But I don't want to leave you, baby. My Mother will punish me if I go back to her, and I may not see you again..."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why did you say yes to me and to our relationship when you are going to leave anyway?" Wooyoung started crying while emitting these painful words that even San can't handle it.
"Because I thought I am going to be free if Yeosang lives. I am--"
"Exactly, San. That's what you told me. Yeosang is alive! But why are you going to disappear when you told me your life depends on Yeosang's choices?!"
"Because I broke so many rules! I could have been free if I didn't break THREE of my mother's rules! It frustrates me, Wooyoung! It was so hard for me to tell you because I love you so much!"
Wooyoung's heart skipped a beat, but decided to continue further, "If you loved me, then why did you lie to me? You knew I will always understand you."
San inhaled strongly, the sharp pain stinging inside his throat is making him harder to talk.
"You're always selfless, love. I wanted to be selfish for once. I wanted to spend the rest of my days with you..."
Wooyoung couldn't handle seeing San saying such things so he averted his gaze away from the latter, "Don't you know it's going to hurt me more? I've fallen in love with you, Choi San. For four fucking years I've been admiring you from afar and you think spending the rest of your days with me would make me less emotional to know that you are leaving me for good? I can't live without you, San. You're everything to me."
Please, Wooyoung-ah. Please, don't say that. It's making me harder to leave you.
San took the other's hand and kissed it tenderly, which made Wooyoung dart his gaze on to his boyfriend.
"I don't want to see you cry, my love." San softly muttered before leaning in to kiss the younger.
Wooyoung quickly pulled off the kiss to let his tears out. How can he not cry when his boyfriend just told him that he's leaving him forever?
San shook his head, hands cupping the latter's cheeks, forcing Wooyoung to face him directly. The pink-haired felt his heartbeat pacing because of how beautiful Wooyoung looks even when crying.
"Wooyoungie, listen to me," San mumbled under his breath, heat fanning over Wooyoung's face. "Before I left my Mother's territory last month, she made a deal with me..."
It piqued Wooyoung's attention, slightly hoping that the deal San was talking about is a good deal.
"If I go back to my Mother, she will punish me by doing other missions which will take at least 2-5 decades for me to accomplish. If I succeed, she will grant me my mortality and freedom, and I can spend the rest of my life with you. If I don't go back to her within this month, I'll disappear forever."
Even Wooyoung was conflicted.
2 to 5 decades.
20 to 50 years.
Imagine waiting this long...all for San to come back to him.
"Then go back to your mother, Sannie."
The elder had his eyes widen, it surprised him but knew that Wooyoung's selflessness would always comes first.
"W-What?"
"I said you should go back to your mother. It's for your sake."
"But Wooyoung...I can't do that! How about you? I can't leave you al--"
"Please, San." The younger interferes, "You will leave either way. It's better to wait for you than to know that you're gone for good."
"To wait?" San scoffed, "More than 30 years, you're going to wait for more than 30 years...all for me?"
Wooyoung thought about it for a brief moment before finalizing, "San, you're my soulmate, my true love. I'll wait for you, whatever it takes."
San shook his head vigorously, absolutely disagreeing with his boyfriend. "I'd rather disappear than have you waiting for me! I can't bear watching you waiting for me or coming back to see you with another family of yours in the future."
"You'd always stay in my heart, San. Like they say, first and true love never dies." Wooyoung responded, having enough with San's reasons.
Don't get Wooyoung wrong, San's reasons were valid because one, he's anxious, and two, he's practical. But what hurt Wooyoung the most was San losing trust on him. He was always loyal and he swears...he has always been faithful to him.
"Sannie, you should really go back to her." Wooyoung persuaded once again, "For me."
The pink-haired bit his lower lip, as if it is almost going to bleed soon. He was not ready. He was never ready to leave his soulmate.
But he would do anything for Wooyoung.
Because he loves him and he doesn't want to hurt him.
San slowly traced his fingers on the jewelry on his neck, removing the item. The necklace had the letter S which stands for his name. He knew he should let Wooyoung wear it, so that he will never forget him.
He placed a soft peck on Wooyoung's forehead after putting the necklace on him.
"I'll be back soon, my baby. Please wait for me."
Wooyoung watched how San stood up and wore his clothes before leaving the window. San gave one last look before jumping off the window. It didn't worry Wooyoung, since San is immortal anyway.
But letting go was hard and painful.
Although he still promised to himself.
That he will wait for Choi San.
