CHAPTER FOURTY-EIGHT

Third Person

A month had finally passed.

Yeosang was discharged two weeks ago but was told to rest for another two weeks before going back to school. The Parks and Yeosang's parents don't want to risk anything. Yeosang's mom even suggested that Yeosang should drop out school because of the accidents that had occurred to him. They debated over this topic until Yeosang insisted to go to school since the school year is ending in three weeks.

Seonghwa was anxious, until now he couldn't get over the accident. He is afraid that Yeosang might encounter them again. The idea of Yeosang going to school or rather go out of the house was risky.

So Seonghwa decided to hire some bodyguards whenever Yeosang goes out with Wooyoung or his other friends and classmates. It's very overreacting, but it's the only way that he could ensure that Yeosang is safe. The blonde obviously didn't like the idea, yet he needs to be protected. Who knows he might faint again?

When Yeosang says that Seonghwa is so paranoid, he means it. The elder made Yeosang move his things and belongings to Seonghwa's room and finalized that Yeosang will be sleeping with him, literally. Not temporarily, but permanently.

Yeosang doesn't mind though.

"Sangie, I don't think you're ready to go to schoo--"

Before Seonghwa could even finish his sentence, Yeosang interfered, "Hwa, I'm okay. It's been a month now. I'm fully recovered. Besides, you are there to look after me." The blonde assured, packing his school supplies in his bag, "I want to see my friends before bidding them a goodbye for this school year."

Seonghwa has doubts, but he understood his husband anyway. "Are you really sure?"

"Yes, I'm more than ready." Yeosang chuckled, slinging his bag on his shoulder before giving Seonghwa a kiss on the nose, "I'll meet you at the car."

Seonghwa couldn't help but smile, a little tint of red blush was evident on his cheeks. He watched Yeosang's hips swaying out of their room. My god, Seonghwa was beyond whipped during these months with the blonde.

He chuckled, still in awe that Yeosang could give this effect on him.

----

"Yeosangie!"

Wooyoung came running and tackled his best friend into a hug and kissed his temple. The younger has been acting so affectionate these days. Of course he's been so happy lately because of his one month boyfriend.

San was smiling at the whole act. He could really see that Yeosang was so dear to Wooyoung, he loved witnessing it...ever since.

"I missed you a lot, Sangie. I felt like dying without you! Imagine one month not being able to talk with your best friend--"

Yeosang snickered at Wooyoung's exaggeratedness. "I missed you too, Woo. Don't worry about me. I'm certainly fine now. Thank you very much for being there for me. I owe you two a lot." He said wholeheartedly, very grateful to have both Wooyoung and San in his life.

Wooyoung gently slapped the blonde's shoulder as his way of embarrassment, extremely touched by his words. "Stop...you're making me cry."

The bell rang, indicating that it's time for class.

Wooyoung remembered that he shares his first class with Yeosang.

"Sannie! We'll go to our classes now. Are you going to wait for Seonghwa?" Wooyoung showed his radiant grin that San loved the most.

The pink-haired nodded with a hum, "Yes bub. We share the same class anyway. Take care, okay? Look after Yeosang." San ruffled his boyfriend's hair before leaning in to peck his forehead.

Wooyoung blushed before nodding sheepishly.

"How cute." Yeosang commented with a hint of sarcasm and disgust.

Wooyoung scoffed with a playful eyeroll. He wrapped his arms around the blonde's arm, leaning his head on Yeosang's shoulder. "Come on, Yeo. I have to tell you all about meeting Park Jimin in his concert! Oh my god he is so hot--"

Yeosang laughed as they began walking to their classroom as Wooyoung kept babbling about how he missed him so much and--of course, the gossips and the tea during the past month when Yeosang was absent.

San placed his hands inside his pockets, watching the pair's figures from afar.

"He look so happy." San muttered, pertaining to his boyfriend.

San's smile slowly faded.

"Hey dude, how's it been?"

Seonghwa appeared all of a sudden which San jolted lightly. He quickly plastered a small smile on his lips to hide the frown before.

"I'm good. How's it been with you and Yeosang?" San returned the question after answering.

Seonghwa had an obvious brilliant smile forming on his lips, "Way better. I'm happy to be in love again."

"I'm happy for you, cousin."

Seonghwa's body tensed. "What did you say?"

"I said I'm happy for you."

"I know, but did you just call me your cousin?"

"See you're not deaf after all."

Seonghwa clenched his jaw, trying to hold his temper, obviously didn't like the joke that San's was pulling on him.

"Choi San, stop pulling pranks on me."

San sneered with a light smirk on his face, "I'm not. Everything I do is serious. You just don't realize it, Park Seonghwa."

"What do you mean?" The taller was getting more confused.

"Everything I do has a purpose and it affects you and Yeosang. I'm surprised you never asked why I courted Yeosang--"

"I did--"

"You didn't." San immediately shuts Seonghwa up, "You only asked why I liked Yeosang, but not ask why I courted him. You wanted was for me to stay away from him. Aren't you curious even just a tiny bit?"

Seonghwa bit his inner cheek, now that he thought about it, it is making him even more curious and confused.

"You are always keeping this mysterious act of yours. Why can't you tell me straight to the point?" The elder was getting a little impatient.

San chuckled loudly, seemingly look like it's a mocking manner, "Isn't that to spice things up? I like being mysterious, and this mysterious act of mine is the reason why you were able to break the curse a month ago. The problem with you is because you're so dense. You should figure things out yourself, I'm just helping you."

"Dude, I don't want to start an argument with you." Seonghwa's eyes pleading San to give an answer. "Can you just please tell me what I need to know? I think I deserved it after all these months."

San shot him a small smile.

"I courted Yeosang for you to realize your own feelings. That was my intention. But I never knew that I'd develop something for Yeosang. He was very charming and brave. Therefore, my feelings Yeosang really affected me so much."

"How come?"

San gave a small smile before shooting the elder a look, "I won't live long, Park Seonghwa."

Seonghwa tilted his head to the right, "I...don't understand?"

"Well, you see... your dead aunt that placed the curse on you... is my mother."

Seonghwa froze.

"She's a goddess, I'm her messenger. There are rules to follow and I broke that rule so I have to face my consequences--"

"Wait! Wait-- My aunt is your mother? Does that mean we're really related? Why are you a few months younger than me when she died before I was born?"

San rolled his eyes, "She created me using her powers after placing the spell on you. I guess you could say we are related, but the difference is I am an immortal."

Seonghwa's mouth was wide open, almost dropping to the ground all because of the unexpected information from his so called cousin.

"How could I believe you?"

San sighed heavily, removing his clothed hands from his pockets. San wore black gloves everyday ever since last month. To which Seonghwa and his friends suspected why he wears them daily. No one knows the reason why except his boyfriend.

San removed his left glove, only for Seonghwa to see that San's left hand was gone and invisible.

San removed the right glove, his hand was still there but not vivid and slightly glitching.

Seonghwa gasped, terrified at what he saw and that San was indeed telling the truth.

"What happened to your...h-hands?"

San sighed once again, "It's been glitching since last month. I was almost close to disappearing but Yeosang saved my life by living."

"But why is your hand still glitching?"

"I told you, because I broke a lot of rules and I haven't returned to mother. If I go back to her, she'll have to punish me and I might not see Wooyoung anymore. But if I chose to stay here, I might disappear soon."

Seonghwa chose to stay silent as he could not imagine San leaving this world so soon. He was beyond sad that his "best friend" didn't tell him anything about it, but he knew he should understand his situation. He was more than thankful to have San in his life.

"I'm...so sorry you had to go through that..."

The younger let out a bitter chuckle but appreciated that his friend was concerned over his life. "I'm used to it. I accepted my fate long ago."

Woah. That's harsh coming from you.

"Will you tell Wooyoung about it?" Seonghwa thought asking.

San was indecisive.

"I-I don't know. I already fucked things up. I don't want to leave Wooyoung either way." San stammered just thinking about leaving his boyfriend. He knew he had to leave for the better, but he can't stand not seeing Wooyoung for who knows how many years. "I'm...scared, Hwa. I've grown too attached to Wooyoung. I don't want to leave him. This is why I don't want to fall in love while I'm on a mission."

The elder watched how San's throat went down, probably hard to swallow the painful lump. His eyes are getting teary and lips pursing inside. Seonghwa felt sad for his friend. It's sad to know that San had lost hope and there is no other way to fix his life, the life that is only created for Seonghwa and Yeosang.

"You know..." Seonghwa trailed off, thinking an advice that would hopefully help his pink-haired friend, "I suggest you should let Wooyoung decide if you are that conflicted. It's painful to leave him, I know. It's better to tell him before it's too late."

San could even hardly blink. A tear just strolled down from his eye. He told Wooyoung about his hands but never told the reason behind it.

He wasn't ready.

San felt something familiar. A sensation that he was feeling for the past weeks. He checked his faded right hand glitching so suddenly until it was invisible that no one could see it anymore.

Seonghwa is right. I should really tell him.

----

Everyone was happy seeing Yeosang again.

His classmates and other friends greeted him and asked if he is better, to which he nodded in delight and thanked them for their concern. Yeosang was happy to know that most of them accepted his current relationship with Seonghwa. Some were jealous, but never want to fight like what Hana did. It really didn't matter to Yeosang, as long as they won't hurt him.

Yeosang was certain that his life was going back to normal.

It was lunch break, and Yeosang did his sister's favor to send her letter to Jongho.

"Hey Jongho," The blonde smiled when spotting the newly black-haired friend.

Jongho returned the smile, "Hey Yeo. What's up?"

Yeosang handed the letter to the raven-haired, "It's Lia's note for you before she died. I found it in her room. I thought I must give it to you." He came up an excuse so Jongho wouldn't spectate where the note came from.

"Oh, thank you." Jongho softly said when receiving the letter.

Yeosang shot his last smile to him, "I'll go now, Jongho. Seonghwa is waiting for me."

The younger flashed a smile before waving.

When Yeosang was out of sight, Jongho heaved a deep breath while examining the note given to him.

He opened it to read:

Dear Jjong,

I just want to say that I am so blessed to have you as my bestest friend. You did a lot for me and I am truly grateful that you were there during my hardest times. I just wanted to tell you that it was never your fault when we did it at Hwang's house, it was mine. I was slightly conscious that time but emotionally driven by the alcohol. Please don't blame yourself. I've been such a terrible friend to you and you really deserve better.

I'm sorry for aborting the baby, I wish I could have the choice to raise our baby together but fate really says otherwise. I am aware of your feelings for me and I'm so sorry for being so dense about it. I wish I could give you a chance but...again fate says otherwise.

But no matter what, Jjongie. I love you with all my heart, maybe not like the way you love me but I want you to know that you are so dear to me. I will never forget you, Jongho. I'm sorry for everything--especially for causing you pain. You are stronger than this. I am sorry that I am not able to give the love that you wanted. But who knows...maybe in our next life, we could live a happy ending where the world won't be against us.

Love, Lia <3
