Gowther

"What did we miss that got you so banged up?" Ban asks, taking a deep swig from his beer. I glance around and notice everyone staring at me.

"W-well, the holy knights attacked and I fought back." I say, hoping it was enough. It wasn't.

"Just 'fought back?' If you didn't have some kind of outside help, you would've died."

"I don't know what happened, okay? I'm still confused," I say darkly, glaring at the table. The sins glance at eachother, then ask one more question.

"Who do you trust the most out of us?" King asks, startling me. I stare at him for a few seconds before turning back to the table and muttering "King." The other sins leave the room and he sits across from me.

"So, what happened?" he asks gently. Now that it was only us, I was feeling a lot more comfortable. And uncomfortable at the same time.

"I was being held above the ground by that pill knight when some sort of... arm guards appeared? I can't really describe them, they just suddenly were there and I could fight with them."

King thinks about this for a second before it seems to click.

"I think you used your ability. What happened to make them appear, do you think?"

"I was really angry. At them and myself. I wanted to be able to fight and not just lay back and watch everyone else protect me." I reply, surprised by how easily it came out. I expected it to be harder to say that, but apparently I was wrong. Suddenly, Meliodas comes running down the stairs and says there's a town in view.

"Are we stopping?" I ask, standing up.

"Yep! Now..." He says, a stupid grin on his face, "Put this on!"

I frown, staring at myself in the mirror with my arms crossed. Why did I have to wear the Boar's Hat uniform? For what purpose would I need these clothes? I hated how short the skirt was and how revealing the costume was entirely. I looked like a boy anyway, I could've been something other than a waiter. After this round, I was going to have a "talk" with Meliodas. Couldn't believe Elizabeth puts up with this.

I stalk down the stairs, my expression grim, and sit outside like I was told to.

"You know, if you keep looking like that, I think you'll scare away the customers," an airy voice says next to me.

"Well Meliodas can deal with that. I can't believe he made me wear this. Literally wouldn't leave the room until I started undressing." I growl, propping my head on my hands and glaring at the town below us. Elizabeth was down there now, hanging up fliers for the bar. King laughs.

"Well, I'm sure you'll do great. Mind if I sit here with you?"

"Actually, I'd rather fly."

~

I take a moment to sneak behind Meliodas's back and change into my usual clothes, then King and I fly off together over the town, chatting and laughing with eachother on the way. We pass over Elizabeth and Hawk talking to a boy with green hair and brush it off. She was probably telling him about the bar. I turn over to face the sky and knit my hands together behind my head, coming to a stop above the trees on the other side of town.

"Feeling lazy, (Y/N)?" King asks jokingly, lying on Chastiefol some distance away.

"I always feel lazy. Don't tease me," I say, sitting up and punching his shoulder. Suddenly, a shadow flies over us, startling us both. More shadows pass overhead and I realise they weren't paying attention to us, just traveling. There were about seven people in the group, I couldn't count properly. They landed in town and didn't show up again, but I felt something was off. No normal human could jump like that.

King and I exchange a glance and we both shoot off towards where we saw them land. I send him off to tell Meliodas while I stay behind and spy on them. I hadn't been seen with the sins that much, so they likely wouldn't recognise me, whoever they were. I only catch the last part of their conversation by the time I find them again.

"--to kill the armoured giant."

'What the hell is the armoured giant?' I wonder, staying in the shadows. I didn't move until I was sure they were gone, then hightailed it back to the bar. When I kick open the door, Meliodas was already gearing up to go out.

"What did you find out?" he asks, walking up to me.

"All I heard was 'to kill the armoured giant.'" I say, shaking my head. Meliodas's eyes widen and he grabs his sword, glancing at the board that had their wanted posters on it. My eyes land on Gowther's poster and I quickly swivel on my heel, walking out of the bar with Meliodas, Ban and King behind me.

~

"So who is Gowther?" I ask, flying alongside King towards the sounds of fighting. We had heard it some time ago and had been running for almost a whole minute now.

"One of the Seven Deadly Sins. Gowther, the goat's sin of lust." King explains, just as we reach some sort of clearing. A giant suit of armour was facing the same people I had seen earlier, its back pressed to a wall. The three sins leap forwards, putting themselves in the way.

"Gowther, are you okay?" Meliodas asks, his sword facing towards the enemies. I make my way, unnoticed, around behind them.

"Four of the Seven Deadly Sins in one place, huh...?" the one wearing a stone mask says, holding a giant, serrated sword. I hated the look of the thing. It looked like it had killed many people.

"Fortunately for you, I only need the armour giant's head. Please step aside."

I almost growl and give away my position, but I remain carefully quiet. A soft, almost impercievable glow starts resonating from my hands, signalling the formation of my magic. Maybe. I still wasn't sure what they were. At that moment, the same boy I saw talking to Elizabeth walks into view.

"H-Hey! Get out of here!" I shout, giving myself away. I wasn't about to let an innocent bystander get hurt. Everyone looks at me in surprise, even my friends, which makes me strangely self-conscious.

"W-What?" I ask, tilting my head in confusion. King hastily looks away, hiding his face.

"Are you here for the armour giant's head?" the boy asks in a monotone voice, his face blank. I float above our enemies and stand next to King, who seems to have recovered from his plight. Whatever that was.

"Yes, we are. If you would let us take it, nobody will be hurt." the leader says, stepping forwards. The green-haired boy slowly melts away, revealing someone with shoulder-length pink hair and golden eyes. He had a feminine face, confusing me at first. Suddenly, the boy turns around and slices his arm through the air, and the giant's head falls into his arms.

"Here. This way, nobody is injured."

My blood boils. What did he mean, no one was injured. I'm about to step forwards and rip his head from his shoulders when King places his arm in front of me, stopping me from moving.

"Gowther?" Meliodas asks, glancing back and forth between the headless giant and the boy in front of us, still holding the bleeding head. I glance between them, confused, and tilt my head further as the people hunting the giant leave.

"What was that about?" I demand, approaching Meliodas. My guards flicker and disappear.

"This is Gowther, the Goat's sin of Lust." Meliodas says, gesturing at the boy. I glare at him for a few seconds before turning away and floating into the air, flying back to the bar. For some reason, I didn't trust that guy one bit. Something about his eyes didn't seem entirely there. Like... like he was an empty shell.

~

After everyone else returns, King drags me to the side.

"What's with that reaction earlier? You seemed upset or mad about him." he asks, floating alongside me as we fly above the town again.

"I don't trust him." I say simply, staring below me. The sun was just setting, bathing the scenery in an orange glow. King frowns and turns away, staring downwards as well, before suddenly stopping. I stop with him and turn to him in confusion.

"What's wron-" I begin, then get cut off as he wraps his arms around me. My heartbeat immediately started fluttering faster and my eyes widen.

"We can trust him. I promise." King says, floating away from my body and holding my shoulders. I quickly turn my face away and cover my eyes with my hand, hoping he didn't see the blush that ran across my features.

"Yeah, alright. You didn't have to hug me to tell me that." I say shyly, turning around and shooting away. I wasn't used to contact like that. I felt a wind disturbance and knew he had caught up, but I still don't look at him.
