An Unexpected Guest
8/16/17: I really want to rewrite this but this is a reminder of how far my writing has came. This story sucks. Big time. But my writing is much better now.
6/30/19: I'm going to edit this so bear (bare?) with me.
7/14/19: I'm done with editing the first chapter.
Mabel's POV
Dipper and I were exploring the woods of Gravity Falls for some evil demonic bear with 4 heads from the 5th demension or something. But we ended up getting lost.
"Dipper! We're lost now.. Who knows how far away the shack is!" I groaned.
What was he thinking when he planned this?
"Relax Mabel, I know where we're going. I hope..."
I just want to go home...
~
Dipper and I ended up getting separated. I had to go and find him, I couldn't waste any time. Who knows what's in these woods?
"Dipper might've found his way home. There's no use trying to search anymore for him. Besides the suns about to set." Looking between the trees, and hearing the animal life of the forest die down, it was time for me to try and get back home as well. I just hope I can make it before the daylight falls.
~
About an hour has passed and still no signs of the shack. It was getting dark and nothing good ever happens when it's dark. "What do I do now? What is there to do?" I sighed in frustration.
The aurora seemed to grow a bit darker. It grew eerily silent to where I could hear the sound of my own heart beat. I looked around to see nothing out of the ordinary but something felt off.
"Ahhh. Well well well, what do we have here? A damsel in distress I see." It felt as if the voice echoed throughout the whole forest. The air grew dense and there was this sense of dread. Time seemed to stop, as if all the life was being sucked out of the woods.
it can't be him.
I knew exactly who it was but what could I do? I couldn't run, I couldn't speak, I couldn't scream. I was frozen.
Bill Cipher. Why are you back?
"Shooting star. Long time no see." Bill practically sang his words. "Don't be so afraid. I'm not going to hurt you. THIS TIME," he said taunting me. "Wouldn't that be rude?"
I had to snap out of it. I had to say something. "What do want Bill?" I tried to sound fierce but my voice cracked at each word I said. I was never as brave as Dipper in these situations.
"I just wanted to see my favorite shooting star." He grinned trying to seem charming. "Although, you do seem pretty lost."
Bill got closer with every step knowing he would make me shiver in fear the closer he got. "So? What if I am?"
"I think I can help you."
"What's the catch?"
"There's no catch this time," he shrugged. "I'll be kind since we haven't seen each other in so long."
With a snap of his fingers the forest seemed to melt away to reveal the welcoming view of the shack.
"How did we get here so suddenly?" Looking towards the forest to see fireflies gathering around the entrance just wondering how we got here.
"Magic. What else?" He winked.
"Thank you!" I perked up and pulled him into this long warm hug. I was just so happy to see home.
"Um. You're welcome." He seemed confused but he patted me on the back before I let go. I ran towards the mystery shack as fast as I could making sure not to look behind me.
~
The next day was a hot sunny day, Grunkle Stan hardly had any tourists that whole week so he told me to stable flyers on the trees near the woods.
Who would even see these signs? No one goes by the woods unless you're Dipper.
I was still forced to stable the signs on the trees but I ended up stabling my finger. I winced in pain. Apparently today wasn't supposed to be my day due to my trail of bad luck. I decided just to head back home.
"What am I going to do with all the papers? I'm sure I can just leave them here."
"Or I could take care of them if you'd like," the voice came from behind me. It seemed so very familiar and I came to one conclusion on who it was. Bill.
I turned trying to look a bit more fierce than last night when I confronted him.
"What are you doing here, Bill?" I asked.
"Can I not drop in to see a damsel in distress?"
"Well I don't need any help right now!"
"Yes you do." he argued.
"What makes you think I need your help?" I tried to sound a bit stubborn so he would leave me alone.
"Because you have a big stack of flyers in your hands that looks like it might take you hours to put up. And we both know good and well you're too lazy to put them up yourself."
"I am not! Help me then if I'm such a damsel in distress!"
"My pleasure." I threw the papers in the air and with a flick of his hand the flyers were on all the trees. I looked at him stunned. I thanked him and turned to walk away but he stopped me and said "let me walk you back home."
Bill's POV
How awkward is this? We haven't talked for the last 20 minutes..
Talk to her Bill.
"Sooo.. how's your day been?" I attempted to sound friendly and smile but it seemed to draw more confusion to her.
"um.. good? Why do you ask?"
"Can't I just be friendly or is that a crime?" I said trying to sound sarcastic.
"Well friendly never really seemed to be your thing," she shrugged, rolling her eyes.
"What if I want it to be my thing?"
"Well you can try but I don't think you can do it"
"FINE! Just you watch," I snapped letting my temper get the best of me.
3rd POV
Bill and Mabel made it back to the shack about an hour later keeping their silence and nagging thoughts to themselves. Just up ahead the shack could be seen from where they were standing.
"Oh! I see the shack from here! I can't wait to take a nice warm ba-" she glanced over at Bill just to see the slightest bit of sadness on his face wondering what she said to make him upset. "Hey Bill, are you okay? You look kinda down." He perked back up as soon Mabel spoke.
"Of course! I'm fine! I've never been upset in my life other than that time you completely ruined my plans"
"Oh yeah. Um good night then?"
"Yeah. Good night." Bill could no longer keep his mouth shut. There was something that just made his heart feel different when she had to leave. So he did something about it. "Hey! Mabel! Wait!"
"Yeah?"
Her eyes glistened in the moonlight and something about that struck Bill right in feelings he didn't even know he had.
"Would you like to go to dinner with me tomorrow?"
Mabel was speechless. She didn't know how to respond; but all she knew was she didn't want to say no.
"Uh yeah. Sure. Why not?!" She gave off a smile. If only it wasn't dark, Bill would see a slight tint of red on her face.
"Okay great!" Bill tried to give a slight laugh to release some tension in the air. "See you around seven then?"
"Yeah! Can't wait!" She gave the biggest grin. He smiled back, but not with a fake smile, with a genuine smile he never imagined he would do.
Bill thought she was beautiful with the stars twinkling above her and the moonlight shining down on her. Oh what would he give to be able to express how beautiful she was. He had never felt like this before so he couldn't mess it up. Not like last time.
Oh shooting star. How could you do this to me?
