You're Exactly Where You Are Meant to Be

Did You Miss Your Chance?

I think many of us need this very important reminder: You're exactly where you're meant to be.

You're not falling behind. You're not too late or too old.

I know that it might not feel like it.

You might be reading this and rolling your eyes.

You might be looking at the island ahead, your desired destination, and think it seems impossibly far.

You think you won't make it on time. You think you're moving too slowly.

You're searching desperately to find a mean of making it to your island.

You might not realize that you're already on the boat that will get you there. The boat that will get you there within the timeline that was meant for you.

Not everyone is meant to have the same timeline. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if every passenger arrived to the tiny island at the same time.

Maybe you see your peers on the Titanic and you're rowing slowly behind on a wobbly, floating piece of junk. Maybe you see how much further ahead they are, and long to join them on the cruise.

It's not fair. All they did was pay for a ticket, and they're driven around the sea without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile you've got blisters from rowing relentlessly.

You might be enticed to give up. To sit and pout in the middle of the ocean, or to jump overboard and let the waves take you away.

Remember that all of our journeys are meant to look different. Maybe you had lessons to learn. Maybe you had to learn to not give up. Maybe the people on the Titanic are facing different kinds of lessons.

And don't forget that the Titanic sank.

Maybe the universe provided you with the piece of junk because it was the only way you would avoid the iceberg. It's better to arrive later than expected than to never arrive at all.

Maybe the people on the Titanic already did the rowing and were rewarded with a cruise.

We don't know what the people around us have endured. Thus, it's useless to compare our achievements to our peers, because we all live different lives.

Keep rowing at your pace. That's all you can do.

And one day you will discover that it was well worth the wait and effort. You'll be thankful for the tan and enlarged biceps that the journey allowed.

One day, you'll realize that you were exactly where you were supposed to be.

One day, everything will make sense.

Rest assured that you will mark your arrival when the time is right.
