Challenge: Channel Your Inner Child

A child is supposed to have no worries. Children are meant to have their needs met, whilst living in the moment and chasing their next mean of happiness. Their only thoughts are meant to be: what can I do next? Who can I play with? What toy do I choose next?

Play is an important part of their development process.

I think as we grow older, as we grow a variety of different responsibilities, we lose our playful natures in adulthood.

When I think of my childhood, when I look at older pictures of myself, I long for that carefreeness. I long for the innocence, the ability to live in the moment and be stress free.

I miss the playfulness, and goofiness of the child I used to be.

It's only in the past few months, that I've realized, that even with my adult responsibilities, I can be that playful, goofy person I long to be.

Day by day, I'm pushing myself to channel my inner child, even with the smallest activities. As I learn to do so, I challenge you to do the same.

In one of my novels (248 Days), two childhood best friends embark in a journey of reliving their memories. As I reread my words of the teenagers partaking in behaviours and activities they had as preschoolers, I couldn't help but smile and wish to do the same.

I want to dance in the rain with my best-friend.

I want to play games of tag or hide and seek, at the most random times.

I want to play outdoors, and not care about getting my clothes muddy.

I want to pick up my hula-hoop and dancing shoes and create the most ridiculous routine.
