New Place
Knotavin: Quick author note, this is a side story to my Lightning Swordsmen series. I would recommend you read that first...but this can be read as a standalone book
(Y/N) POV
I look out the window as we enter the city where I'll be living for the next little bit.
I sigh as I remember why we had to move...it was simple really. I got kicked out of school for picking too many fights. I'm still rubbing my forearm from the last fight I had.
"Behave yourself at this new school ok?" My mom says as she focuses on the road
"Yea, yea," I mutter
"I'm serious," She says looking at me
"Not my fault those morons were cussing racism every goddam word they spat out," I defend myself
"Have some control at least. You sent 5 kids to the hospital with broken bones," She says
"They started it," I mutter
"Come on, what are you, 10? You should act your age," She says
"Yes, yes, I'll act my age," I mutter. She should see other kids who are 17. She'll quickly realize that I'm a golden child.
We head deeper into the city and a residential area. Finally, we stopped in front of the house. It had a terrible look to it. It looked old, the paint was faded and the roof needed some work on it.
"Please tell me we are at the wrong house," I whine as I look at it
"This is it, your in no place to whine. It's the only place we can afford after I paid all the medical bills for the boys you almost killed," She scolds me
"I guess," I mutter as I get out of the car
"Does it protect us from the rain?" I ask looking at the damaged roof
"You're asking the wrong person," she says as we walk to the door. I go to open it and falls right off the hinges
"Oh for fuc--," I say as my mom slaps the back of my head
"Watch your mouth," She says as she examines the door
"Just needs new hinges," she says as she walks in. I follow her as the floors creak under our footing
"That's just pleasant," I complain
The rest of the house is as bad as what you'd expect.
Lucky for us, it does protect us from the elements so we moved all of our stuff in. It's summer break so I'll probably be working on this house until school starts.
My first task was to replace the roofing. I ripped all the old shingles off and replaced them with new ones. Next, I fixed the wooden floor and the door. Then after that was a lot of random work like replacing appliances and fixing holes in the whole.
Mom wants the house to look nice so we painted it all. And I have to say, it looks kinda good. The house went from a faded blue colour to a greyish white.
Mom started her new job as I started school. Her job is a finance manager at some company. And today's the first day of school.
I've gotten used to swapping schools. I often don't stay in a school for longer than a month or two before getting kicked out. Oh well.
I walk with a mob of students as I enter the school area. The building itself was a decent size. Was 4 stories high and simply had a lot of classrooms. I follow the paper mom gave me as I head to classroom 128. Didn't take me long to find it.
Luckily when I arrived, a teacher was waiting for me
"Hi, you must be (Y/N)," He asks
"Yea, that's me," I say as he nods
"I'm Mr. Gobbler. Most students just call me Gob. Anyway, would you like someone to show you around?" He asks
"I mean, if you recommend," I say as he nods
"Well, I do, anyone wants to volunteer to guide him?" He asks the few people Who are in the room. No-one answers him.
"Then I'll guess ill voluntell one of you," he says as he scans the room
"Abby, why don't you show him around?" He says as He spots a short girl with short black hair. Her eyes look at him with something in them...is it fear? Anger? Fright? Her eyes tell me a decoded story. You see it's there...but you just can't read it
"I don--" she begins but the teacher interrupts her
"I wasn't asking," he says passive-aggressively. She sighs and gets up.
"Follow me," she mutters as I feel everyone's glares on me. She walks me around the school explaining the different areas. While the areas all looked different. The glares people gave me didn't. I'm not sure if it's because of my past...or hers
When I first arrived, no one noticed me. But with her, their eyes are fixed on us
"Is everyone always this attentive," I ask
"No," she mutters as we walk
"Then wh--," I begin to say before Abby gets absolutely drenched in blue paint.
At first, I was confused. Then laughter erupted from the entire school. I look around, and people surround us laughing. I look up to see a group of boys with an empty paint can.
"That wasn't very nice now was it," I mutter as I look at the drenched girl
"Are you ok?" I ask as she just looks at me
"Stay away," she cries as she runs away.
"Poor guy, out of anyone to show him around it was her," I overhear people talk
"You can thank us later!" The boys with the paint say as they disappear.
I push myself past the crowd as I follow the leftover paint that dropped off her. It's was like following a money trail. It led to the girls bathroom....how expected.
I was about to leave when I heard laughter from the bathroom
"OMG, you look so much better covered in the paint than you do normally. You should thank our boyfriends for putting on your makeup," the girls say in the typical bitchy voice diva
"Just leave me alone," I hear faintly
"Oh hell no, I gotta update my snap with your photo, the title would be "miss ugly get a makeover" aha," she says laughing
"No don't!" Abby says protesting
"You don't get a say in this," she says
"No please don't, I'll do anything," Abby says
"Ok, strip then," The bitch says
"No," Abby says quickly
"Listen to me, you in no place for demands hehe," she says as a loud crash is heard. I can hear Abby silently start screaming in pain.
At this point, I don't care what bathroom this is. My face is filled with anger. I don't know what Abby did, but surely she doesn't deserve this right?
I approach the door as I raise my foot to it, without a second thought I kick it with all my strength as it gets blown off its hinges...Maybe a little too much
Instantly I spot a girl covered in paint curled up in a corner as three girls stand over her with their shoes covered in paint...that means one thing...they were beating her.
They look at the door that used to be covering their bad deeds on the ground
"You wanna be next," I threaten as fear becomes engraved into their eyes
"Then beat it," I shout as they skim past me
"Are you ok?" I ask as she remains curled up
"Leave," she ushers
"Hell no," I say as she looks at me with dead eyes
"You'll get in trouble with more than just the teachers if you're seen with me...actually scrap that. You're already screwed," She mutters
"What do you mean?" I ask as she continues
"You just threaten the three most popular girls in the school. As a result, I'm sure their boyfriends are gonna be after you now," she says
"Small price to pay," I say as I see where they were kicking her. Her ribs had white patches on her so that tells me where they kicked.
"Had they continued, you could have a punctured lung," I say as she laughs a bit
"It would have already happened it was going to," she says
"(Y/N) (L/N) what are you doing here," a teacher yells as she sees me
"I was he--," I begin
"Your suspended!" They yell as I'm left in utter shock
"That's a bunch of bullshit," I say as I look at the teacher
She points a finger to an exit and stares at me with a glare
"Out," She demands
After a second or two, I follow her directions
"Maybe you should read the situation better," is what I wish I could say
But I know running my month more would only harm me further
I walk out of the school in defeat
What am I gonna tell mom
Thanks for Reading. I need an opinion. Since this is connected directly to the Lightning Swordsmen's sister(Abby). I need a way to address him. Now I can make clever ways of addressing him while not using his name, or we can make a actual name for him. Doesn't matter to me, just know I can't call him (Y/N)😂
