Alec stood by Magnus desk eyeing his photo of him and Rafael together that looks like they were in Bahamas or some place like Hawaii. They were cuddling in the water and there were fishes surrounded them. The smile on their faces makes Alec smiled at his best and his eyes filled with sadness that even a stranger could noticed. Alec missed his dear family so much and how he miss his siblings. He prayed to God that one day he would be granted just one chances to see them again before his lives would ended. How he craved the embraced of his sister that used to climb on his bed every night calming his tears away after the fight he had with his father. He knew Izzy loves him and the look on her faces when Alec left their house still haunts him till the very day.

He just made Magnus his coffee and settled it down on the table before he was lost in his memory lane. He didn't realized a trickling of tears went down on his face when he stares at the photo. He wiped his cheek with his fingers and cleared his throat, shaking his head before he realized how impossible his daydream would be. He placed the frame back on Magnus' desk and piled up the papers for their first meeting of the day.

As he was sorting out the papers, Magnus came rustling in a rush behind him and Alec looked at him with a wide smile on his face like the usual mornings but it was down to the drained when Magnus didn't bother to look up and see his face. "Good morning Mr Bane." He greeted as usual but he just hummed for response mumbling the word morning. Alec's eyebrow crooked upon the sudden mood swings but like the usual days he had encountered with him, he found out that his boss had his mood swings every once in a while and even worst few times a day.

Alec took the signed as for him not to be disturb and headed to his office. He sat down and scrolled through his email when suddenly the rang on the desk phone went on. "Alec where is the file for today's meeting?! I thought I told you to be prepare for today's meeting! Why aren't you people working like I paid you to!" He continued his rant on the phone while Alec heard every single cursed thing he said to him. He had the file in his one hand while the other hand on his forehead listening to Magnus screaming at him for no reason. He couldn't say a word nor he could form any sound. He felt like he lost his voice when Magnus screamed at him like that and his chest clenched in holding his tears. After all the years he spend with Liam, he knew for once never to talk back when a person is angry. He knew better since he earned few scars from it.

"Why the fuck aren't you say anything?! If you have gone mute then I should hire another fucking assistant to replace you!" Alec had it, that was the last straw. He sighed before he cancelled the call and he could hear Magnus cursed in the other room in words that he prayed Magnus didn't say in front of his son. He walked into the office and stood before his desk. Magnus was already stood before it and his eyes filled with rage. He took the coffee mug that Alec made him every morning and threw it on the wall causing it to shatter too pieces on the floor. Alec flinched in fright and took a step back away from his  boss while he had his hand gripped tight on the folder. He didn't dare to look into Magnus' eyes instead he let his gaze on the floor.

"How fucking dare you cancel my call! I paid you a great deal of money and you are the last person to be disrespectful to me after everything I had done for you! You are ungrateful piece of shit! I ran a successful empire and I expect people I paid that work under me would give me the same amount of effort as I pay you!" Alec swallowed a big lump that form in his throat as his gaze still on the floor. He shut his eyes and took a few deep breath to control his tears. He knew this job was too good to be true and even though the pay is incredible but its not worth every single thing he did for the company even though its only for couple of months.

A loud slammed on the table had him startled and he took another step back distancing himself. "Fucking answer me!" He couldn't answer him as he couldn't focus on what he asked. Magnus' words were like a blurred and faint old radio. He felt like he is underwater and he couldn't hear anything beside his own heartbeat and breathing. He finally look up and looked at his brown eyes. Their gaze met and he saw the guilt in Magnus' eyes when he encountered with Alec's tearing one. "I quit." He throw the file on Magnus' face and headed to his office to grab his things.

It was more like returning all of his things. His phone, his iPad and even his credit card that Magnus gave him the first month he started working here. He took his wallet and his few other things before headed out. As he exited the room, he glanced at Magnus that had his hand gripped his hair, resting his elbow on the table looking down. "I'm sorry I didn't become what you wanted me to be, I tried my best but I want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me and everything you had done for me. I wished you the best Mr Bane." He went out and he was greeted with worry looking Maia stood behind her desk. "Alec." She whispered slowly under her breath.

Alec smiled at her before handed her some files with papers scattered in between them. "Don't forget he has his meeting with Mr DeLuca in fifteen minutes. Please reminded him that Natalie need his final approval on the colors of the main lobby desk. Also he has his lunch meet with his fiancé and also 3pm, 530pm and his 7pm meeting. I have all the files sorted for him and don't let him forget to called Mr Dante for his dinner invitation responses on Thursday next week before they fly back to Italy, his wife wants to know how many people would come and Maia, I hope everything works out for you." Maia couldn't response, she stood like a statute in front of him after placing the file on the table. She already walked behind the desk to meet Alec's appearance and she stood beside his tall body staring at his well calm behavior. She could see how upset he is and how many times his voice breaks and he cleared his throat to hide it. She didn't think twice and went to hug Alec wrapping her small body and arms around his waist resting her cheek on his chest. "I'm sorry. I will find out what's wrong with him."

Alec pushed back her slim body and turn his gaze the other way so Maia couldn't met his eyes. She heard him sniffed and cleared his throat before he placed his hand on Maia's shoulder reassuring her. He nodded with a smile on his face and left the building with a heavy heart.

Maia's POV

I came to work this morning greeted by the tall, dark and handsome figure as always. Alec greeted me with his most sincere smile and we engaged in small talk, mostly what happened during the weekend. He didn't say much but the look on his face tells me he had a great weekend. His blushing and occasional lip biting and smirking showed me how adorable Alec is but too bad he is not into girls. He excused himself towards Magnus' office and made him a cup of coffee like I told him on his first day working here and surprisingly Magnus didn't want anyone else but him made his morning coffee and even though he is my best friend and I love him like a brother, Magnus can be an asshole and a bastard sometime. They were time when his assistant had made him a coffee, he went out to get a Starbucks and throw the coffee away causing him another assistant down the drain.

I can't blame him for firing his assistant but to be honest, all the assistant sent by the human resources are either, too stupid, too incompetent or simply just a bitch. I sat back down on my desk answering calls when I saw the elevator door was open. I stood up knowing it was Magnus and I smiled at him but he didn't bother looking at me. "Good morning Mr Grumpy." I said sarcastically. Magnus usually picked up the humor but this time he just walked in to his office ignoring me by the desk. By the look on his face he might have a bad weekend. I don't blame anyone else but his stupid fiancé, Camille.

I was minding my business and continued working when I heard yelling from his office. "Poor Alec." I mumbled. Indeed Alec is a great assistant and he always catch up on things even though its something new. I love having him working here and somehow I can see he and Magnus had some sort of a spark. He smiled a lot when Alec is around and he is not afraid to ask Alec for an opinion even though he is just an assistant. Then the yelling stop and the office became quieter. Quiet as the grave I must say. Things had becoming more intense when I heard another yelling and a glass broken. Oh no. Magnus not again. What did Alec do that made him so mad. The last time I recall he was this mad was when he lost a client that cost him half a million from his company. But as far as I recall Alec is doing an incredible job keeping tracks of his meeting and taking his client sometimes by himself.

I hesitated whether I should go inside and asked him what is going on but as soon as I stood, Alec came out from his office and his face is reddened. His cheek is flushing and I can see he is crying. I'm gonna kill him for real now. "Alec?" I called out his name but my voice turned too a shallow whispered. He looked up with a fake smile on his face and he explained to me what Magnus has to do for the rest of the day. My eyes didn't left him not even once and I for one felt sorry for him. After he is done explaining to me what to do I couldn't help but to hug him. I felt like he needed it for the time being.

I know its hard for him but I can't let him leave, not like this. "I'm sorry. I will find out what is wrong with him." I said and he nodded weakly with his fake smile still plastered on his face. He gripped my shoulder with his hand squeezing it gently before he released and left from the building. I shook my head and went towards Magnus office.

After I entered the horror surrounded me as his office that looks squeaky clean this morning had been turned upside down. It looks like a ship wrecked if you asked me. I saw Magnus by his desk with his head in his hand and he look like he just had a fight. His things were scattered all over the room and the broken glass breaks when I stepped on it. I came closer to him but keeping my distant as I was afraid he still in his crazy mood. "What happened?" I asked him but he didn't budge. "Magnus?" I asked as I get closer and I placed my hand on his shoulder slowly not wanting him to be startle. He looked up at me with his red eyes that filled with tears and guilt. I sighed exhaling though my pursed lips.

"Why did you treat him like that? What wrong did he do to you that you had to treat him that way?" I asked after handing him a bottle of water. He took it and gulped it down in one breath. "I screwed up Maia. Big time." He said. Finally few words and I managed to cracked him open. "What's wrong? Tell me." I said. All these years I've known Magnus, he always have me to count on if anything troubles him. He sniffed before he wiped his tears with his fingers and held his temple with his fingers.

"Camille went crazy after I left her for the weekend. When I came back yesterday we had a fight all night and I am so tired. I think I just outburst it to Alec." He explained and I snorted intentionally even though it sounded rude. "Jee, you think? Congratulations Mr Asshole, you just lost another assistant. Good luck finding others." I took a step back and find my way out when I heard his voice again. "Maia, help me get him back." I stood by the door with my back facing him, not bothering to turn around. "I can't help you Magnus, you need to fix this on your own. Plus you have a meeting in five minutes. Get your ass in conference room one now." I commanded before left the room. My heart is heavy for treating Magnus this way but he deserves it. Alec is a good guy and he just hurt him for something he didn't do.

After Alec left Bane building that day he felt a sudden drop of will and emotions. His mind wonders with a lots of thoughts and decision. How is he able to survive now knowing that Liam will have to support him. He will never be able to escape since he had no job that pays as good as Magnus does. He wanders the streets hoping to find himself a job. But he felt too tired and not presentable to go for an interview looking like this. After few hours of wandering, he managed to find himself at the park sitting on one of the benches alone facing the lake.

He couldn't remember the last time he went to the park and enjoyed it. The view is amazing but with the event happened earlier, he couldn't possibly enjoy it. He couldn't stop his tears and continued to stare to oblivion. He remembers all the good times he had when he had his family. If only he would listen to his father and get married to Lydia, all of these wont happen. He wont be such a hopeless and defenseless person.

All of his past memory flashed between his eyes. His family, his siblings, his regret on leaving their house. Liam and his father. Max's face when he died. Alec couldn't take the feeling and how many times he tried too stay strong, then life hits him back at square one. He felt his body ache all over after sitting on the park bench for hours when he finally gives in and headed home.

After he reached the apartment, his head pounding like a hammer. He went to his bedroom and as soon as his head hits the pillow, sleep consumed him.

Alec was awaken by noises that came through outside of his bedroom door. He shot up and noticed the room is dark and so was outside. He blinked his eyes few times and saw the clock shown almost eleven. He slept through the evening and he felt his body more painful along with his head. Then again another ruffles of noises appeared. He grabbed Liam's baseball bat and headed towards the door.

The door hinges creaked open when he pushed and he noticed his living room is bright as day. The lights were on and he remembers not turning it on when he came back. Then he heard noises coming from the kitchen and he knew very well whom the noises belongs. A steady figure wearing a long sleeved white shirt with his blue jeans dancing away in the kitchen. He had only his back towards Alec as Alec set the bat down by the wall. He saw there was food on the table, take out mostly and couple bottles of wine. He didn't felt hungry until the food smells hits his nose and he remembered he didn't eat anything since morning. After everything that happened he couldn't find his appetite.

His gaze turned back to the person in the kitchen that still hasn't realized his presence in the room and Alec cleared his throat to caught his attention. He jumped in fright turning himself around when he heard the noise and had his hand on his chest. "Alec you scared me." He said. Alec wasn't pleased to see him nor he had any energy to deal with this. "What are you doing here Liam?"
