a month ago

I was playing ball with my friends

in the garden 

of my childhood home

three weeks ago

my daughter

who is now 42

was born

two weeks ago

I left my home province

left everything behind

moved across the country

and started a new life 

with my beautiful wife

and her two teenage daughters

a week ago

my first grandchild was born

a couple days later

I had 4

yesterday

I retired at 65

today

I am 67

at least that is how it feels

life is such a fleeting moment

and

before you know it

it up and walks away

I am not a wise man

and

I have made my share of mistakes

but

I did learn

and 

the biggest lessons I learned

was

don't waste time on people 

who treat you ill

don't waste time on things

that do not bring you joy

don't waste time on thinking

just get out there and do

don't waste time on self pity

there are those far worse off

don't waste time on the petty

reach for what is important and embrace 

don't waste time being angry

it simply eats you alive

don't waste time on egos

rooms can only handle so much

and 

the most important lesson of all

don't waste time

we only get so much

we never know when the clock will strike 12

we may not be able to control much in our lives

but

we can control the person we are

and 

we can choose the people around us

and 

we can paint the image of the person we want to be remembered as

life is such a fleeting moment

and

before you know it

it up and walks away

be happy with the time you have

and 

the life you make
