Weiss was having lunch with her huntsmen colleagues when her brother came into the cafeteria.
"Hi, Whitley, what brings you here?" Weiss asked.
"Mother has requested that the three of us come home for a family dinner tomorrow evening." Whitley told Weiss and Winter.
"Really?" Weiss replied.
"Will Father be there?" Winter asked scowling.
"*sigh* Unfortunately, yes." Whitley grumbled.
Weiss and Winter groan and grumble. The last thing they want is to be in the same room as their horrible father for the evening. They almost want to say no, but they don't want to hurt their mother's feelings.
"Okay...we'll be there...but only for Mother's sake." Winter said.
"There's...another thing..." Whitley sighed.
"Mother wants you to bring Ilia and me to bring Azure." he added.
"Ummm...I'm not sure that's a good idea, you know Father will not approve of Ilia. Not that I care about his approval, it's just that I know he'll make a scene." Weiss said.
"I'm worried too. You know he's just as ableist as he is racist, he'll definitely look down on the fact that Azure is deaf." Whitley said frowning.
"Don't worry...I'll make sure Father behaves." Winter assured her younger siblings.
"Thanks, Winter." Whitley and Weiss replied.
"I'm gonna text Azure. See you guys tomorrow." Whitley said getting his scroll out and walking away.
"And I'm gonna go find Ilia." Weiss said getting up from the table.
Azure was in her dorm room looking over some equations when she felt her phone vibrate.
Whitley: Hi, Azure, are you free tomorrow evening?
Azure: Yeah, why?
Whitley: My family is having dinner together and my mom wants me to bring you along.
Azure: Sure, I would love to join your family for dinner.
Whitley: I'll warn you right now that my father is...not the nicest person. So, if he makes you uncomfortable, just let me know and I'll take you home.
Azure: Okay. I'll see you tomorrow, love you.😚😚❤❤
Whitley: Love you too😍😚
Meanwhile, Weiss heads to where Ilia is staying while she's in Atlas. She knocks on the door and waits for her girlfriend to answer
"Hi, baby girl." Ilia greeted with a smile.
"Hey, babe." Weiss replied, matching Ilia's smile.
"Come in." Ilia said.
Weiss walks in and sits on the couch with Ilia.
"So, what's up?" Ilia asked.
"My mom wants me to bring you to family dinner." Weiss answered.
"She does? Does...she know I'm a girl? A faunus?" Ilia replied.
"Yes. And she's okay with it....my dad though..." Weiss sighed.
"Yeah, I know." Ilia said holding Weiss's hand.
"I'll understand if you don't wanna go because of him." Weiss said.
"Are you kidding?! There's no way I'm gonna let you spend an entire evening with your awful dad on your own." Ilia told her girlfriend.
"You're the best, Ilia." Weiss said smiling.
Ilia pulls Weiss in for a gentle kiss.
"I know." Ilia chuckled.
Despite the reassurances by their girlfriends, Weiss and Whitley were still anxious about tomorrow. Their father is a cruel and ignorant man, they know for a fact that he will make tomorrow's family dinner a living h*ll. His homophobia, racism, and ableism is sure to cause a lot of problems. Weiss and Whitley secretly hope that their father will just not bother to show up...but when has Jacques Schnee ever passed up the opportunity to torment his children.
"You better behave yourself, Jacques, or I swear I'll..." Willow threatened.
"Me behave myself? I'm not the one who's a drunkard. So why don't you behave yourself, and not embarrass me like you always do." Jacques replied.
"Are you f**king kidding me right now?! How am I the embarrassing one?!" Willow asked angrily.
"Well, for one, that fowl, unladylike mouth of yours. And, two, the fact that you're a booze-head." Jacques answered.
"Uhgg...you're impossible!" Willow growled.
She storms out of her husband's office and goes to her own...which isn't really an 'office' but more of a place she goes to get away from Jacques. Willow heads straight for the liquor cabinet and grabs a bottle of scotch. Instead of grabbing a glass to pour the scotch into, Willow just pops the cap off the bottle and brings it to her lips. But just as the rim of the bottle touched her lips, she pauses thinking about what Jacques said earlier...about her being a drunk...and he was right. Hating the fact that her husband was right about something, Willow throws the bottle of scotch at the wall shattering it. Then she sits on her sofa, grabs one of the throw pillows and screams out of frustration into it.
"Why did I think this family dinner thing would be a good idea, I'm such a fool!" Willow groaned.
All she wanted to do was be a better mother for her children. She wanted to be more involved in their lives, wanted to know more about them. Because of her drinking and isolation, she hardly knows anything about Winter, Weiss, and Whitley. After getting a maid to clean up the mess she made, Willow talks with the cooks to make sure everything will be perfect for the family dinner tomorrow. The next day was going to be quite stressful and every Schnee except Jacques was determined to not let it go wrong in any way.
