Arctic Star: I Won't Ignore You pt.3

Whitley was upset, he just had an argument with his sister, Weiss, and was now in his room crying on his bed. His girlfriend, Azure, held him to comfort him.

"Why can't my family love me?" Whitley cried into Azure's lap.

The only reason the deaf girl knew her boyfriend had said something was because she had felt the movement of his lips against her lap. She didn't know what he was saying, but she figured that it was something negative and probably very self deprecating. Azure runs her fingers through his white hair with one hand, and with the other she traced words on his back.

"You matter, you are important...you are loved." Azure traced gently on his back.

"By who?" Whitley replied, tapping Morse Code on her leg, something both of them knew.

"By me...I love you." Azure told him, using the same method of communication Whitley was currently using.

Surprised, Whitley sits up and stares at his girlfriend wide eyed.

"You love me?" Whitley asked in sign language.

In reply, Azure simply cups Whitley's face and kisses him. Then he grabs her shoulders and deepens the kiss. When the kiss was over, they press their foreheads together. Feeling better, Whitley hugs Azure, nuzzles the crook of her neck, and traces the words 'I love you, too' onto her back. Smiling, Azure hugs back, pressing a kiss to Whitley's temple. Whitley's scroll began ringing, so he pulls away for a moment to grab it off of the bedside table. Looking at his scroll, he saw that it was Weiss who was calling him. Azure glances at the scroll's screen then nods at Whitley signaling him to answer it. While Whitley talks to his sister, Azure wraps her arms around his torso and presses the side of her head to his chest. She closes her eyes and concentrates on the feeling of the vibrations of Whitley's voice and the thumping of his heart beat. The conversation lasted about twenty minutes, and when Azure stopped feeling the vibrations of Whitley's voice she lifts her head from his chest and looks at him.

"Are thing's okay between you and Weiss now?" Azure asked using sign language.

"Yeah, we talked it out, apologized to each other and stuff. Thank you for always being here for me...and for being one of the only people who has never ignored me." Whitley replied.

"It was no problem at all. I know you would do the same for me." Azure signed.

"Yes, I would." Whitley signed with a smile.

Laying on their sides on the bed, Azure and Whitley hold each other and gently trace 'I love you' on each other's backs over and over until the two are lulled to sleep. The next morning, Whitley woke up blonde hair in his mouth, somewhere during their sleep they shifted into a spooning position. He slowly sits up so that his movements doesn't wake Azure up, and pulls a long blonde strand of hair from his mouth...he finally understood the one downside to being big spoon with someone with long hair. Then the realization that he and Azure had just spent the night together hits him and he gasps.

"Oh sh*t...Jaune is going to kill me!" Whitley shrieked.

He didn't know Jaune all that well, but judging by how close he and Azure seem to be, the young Schnee figured the huntsman would be very protective of his little sister. Whitley nudges Azure's shoulder to wake her up. She sits up, yawns silently, then rubs the sleep from her eyes. And when the same realization hits her her eyes go wide.

"We spent the night together?" Azure signed with a nervous expression.

"Yeah, we did. Your brother won't kill me for this...will he?" Whitley spoke while using sign language.

"Don't worry about Jaune, he'll probably whine and fuss, but he isn't all that confrontational." Azure assured him.

"Wanna go out for breakfast?" Whitley asked.

"Yes, I'm hungry." Azure signed, nodding.

Whitley directs Azure to where the bathroom is so that she can freshen up. Afterwards, Whitley takes Azure to a moderately fancy restaurant for breakfast. They both had spinach omelets with sausage and biscuits. While eating, Azure receives a text message from her brother.

Jaune: Where are you? I stopped by your dorm and you weren't there.

Azure: I'm having breakfast with Whitley.

Jaune: Okay. Is Whitley doing okay, he looked pretty upset last night.

Azure: He's fine now, and he's resolved things with Weiss, so everything's good.

Jaune: That's good, I hate to see siblings fight. I'm glad he and Weiss are on good terms now. Would you and Whitley like to come over to the academy to play videogames with us?

Azure: I'll ask Whitley.

"Jaune just asked me if we would like to come over to the academy to play videogames with him and the others. Do you think you're up for it?" Azure asked.

"Sure, as long as you stay by my side the whole time. I don't know them all that well, so I'm a bit nervous." Whitley answered.

"Don't worry, they're all really nice and friendly." Azure told him.

After breakfast, the couple head to Atlas Academy and go to the common room where everyone else was. Weiss runs up to her brother and suddenly envelops him in a tight bear hug. He stands there frozen, not expecting the hug.

"I'm sorry." Weiss said into his ear.

"It's okay...I'm sorry too." Whitley sighed, smiling and hugging back.

"Wait a minute...you two are wearing the same clothes as you did last night." Ruby commented.

"And when I came by Azure's dorm this morning...she wasn't there." Jaune said furrowing his eyebrows in thought.

Then his eyes go wide as he comes up with a certain assumption.

"YOU DID THE DIRTY DEED WITH MY BABY SISTER DIDN'T YOU!?! YOU'RE DEAD MEAT, YOU LITTLE WEASEL!!" Jaune shouted angrily.

Ruby and Weiss held back Jaune while Whitley hid behind Azure.

"We didn't do anything, I swear! We just fell asleep cuddling, that's it!" Whitley shouted in defense.

Jaune breathes deep and slow to calm himself down from his overprotective brother mode. Once he was calm, Ruby and Weiss let him go and Whitley steps out from behind his girlfriend. Now that Whitley's life was no longer in danger, all the kids settle on the couches and floor and start playing various videogames. Hours of fun later, Whitley started to feel more comfortable around the others and even carried on conversations with them. It was safe to say that Whitley made friends with them...which is the first time he has ever made friends with anyone. Whitley is now content and happy to finally be surrounded by people who care about him the way he always craved.
