The more time Whitley spent with Azure, the more his feelings for her grew. She was smart, beautiful, kind, and a pleasure to be around. Whitley never realized how attention starved he was until he started hanging out with Azure. 

"Azure, can I ask you something?" Whitley asked her.

"Sure, what is it?" Azure replied.

"In a family of eight children...how do you not fall into obscurity? How do your parents have time for all of you?" Whitley asked.

"Because...I'm from a family of three children, and...I'm completely ignored." he added frowning sadly.

"I'm...not sure what to say, Whitley, I guess your parents just don't see how special you are." Azure told him.

"You...you won't ignore me...will you?" Whitley asked hesitantly.

"No, never, I care about you a lot, Whitley." Azure signed.

Azure holds Whitley's hand and intertwines their fingers. This make his chest tighten and his heart pound. He couldn't take it any longer, he had to tell her how he felt.

"Azure....I have to tell you something." Whitley told her.

The girl gives her full attention to the boy, waiting for him to tell her what he needed to tell her.

"I...I like you...I like you as in I want to be your boyfriend." Whitley admitted.

It was an agonizing two minutes before Whitley got a reply to his confession. The reply came in the form of a kiss on the cheek.

"I like you that way too." Azure signed, blushing.

She hugs Whitley's arm and leans her head on his shoulder. Smiling happily, Whitley leans his head against Azure's and sighs contentedly. The two made an adorable couple, they were with each other constantly, and when they weren't they texted each other. Whenever Whitley would visit Azure at the university he would bring her her favorite candy and, occasionally, a flower or two. And Azure was always there for Whitley when he needed someone to talk to. Tonight, Azure was in her dorm room getting ready for her date with Whitley; he was taking her to a fancy Atlas restaurant. She was putting in her earrings when her scroll buzzed telling her there was someone at her door. At the door was her brother, Jaune, and his friends, Nora, Ren, Oscar, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang.

"Hi, guys, what are you doing here?"  Azure asked them.

"We're here to take you to this awesome all-you-can-eat buffet in Mantle. What you all dressed up for?" Jaune replied.

"I'm going out on a date with my boyfriend." Azure signed as her brother interpreted for those who didn't know sign language.

"BOYFRIEND!?!?" everyone gasped, shocked.

"Since when do you have a boyfriend?!" Jaune asked his sister.

"Since a few weeks." Azure replied, this time Weiss interpreted, cause Jaune was still very shocked about his little sister dating.

"I wonder who her boyfriend is." Ruby said to Yang.

Azure gets a message on her scroll from Whitley saying he was here. Excitedly, she throws open the door and leaps at her boyfriend, nearly knocking him over. She wraps her arms around his shoulders, he wraps his arms around her waist, and they kiss.

"What the h*ll!?!" Weiss said shocked and confused.

Whitley jumps a little, startled by his sister's sudden outburst. 

"Woah...your brother and my sister...what are the odds of that." Jaune said to Weiss.

"I'm so confused right now...like, I thought the only thing Whitley liked kissing was our father's a**." Weiss said.

Azure felt Whitley tense up and figured his sister probably said something that wasn't so nice.

"Weiss...don't be mean." Blake told her.

"I'm not being mean, I'm being truthful. All he's ever done is suck up to Father, does whatever he tells him to do, and never says a word against him. All he knows how to do is obey and kiss a**." Weiss said folding her arms across her chest.

"Heh...and despite all my efforts...you're the one Father obsesses over...you're the one Mother talks about...and you're the one Winter spends her time with. Me? I'm ignored...I don't exist in the eyes of our family. I mean...your friends probably didn't even know you had a brother until they all got here to Atlas. So, I'm so sorry that all of it makes me angry, resentful, and desperate to do anything that would give me even a sliver of attention!" Whitley replied choking back tears; he refuses to appear weak in front of his sister.

"I...I-I didn't know you were being ignored." Weiss mumbled nervously.

"Well, of course you didn't...you were too busy ignoring me to notice I was being ignored!" Whitley chuckled sadly tears threatening to spill over.

"I...I'm gonna go, Azure, I...suddenly don't feel well, we'll have to reschedule." Whitley signed quietly to Azure before walking away.

Azure stood there confused, no one was interpreting the conversation between Weiss and Whitley, so she didn't know what they were saying to each other.

"Weiss, what did you say to your brother to make him so upset?" Azure asked her.

Weiss tells Azure about her conversation with Whitley, and the blonde glares angrily at her.

"You are a horrible sister, you should be ashamed of yourself." Azure told Weiss.

"I know...I am...I'm so ashamed." Weiss sighed looking at her feet.

"If you had just bothered to get to know the real him, like I did, you wouldn't say such horrible things like...'He's just a weaselly little sh*t'. He's actually a very kind and caring boy. And I may not be able to hear him play the cello, but I know he's very talented; I can see it in the movement of his fingers, I can see it in the expression on his face as he loses himself in the song he's playing. Your brother is an amazing person and I'm appalled that his so called 'family' are too blind to see it." Azure signed to her boyfriend's sister.

She has Weiss and the others leave the university, then leaves as well so that she can go after Whitley. He's upset and needs her comfort right now. When she gets to Schnee manor, the butler, thankfully, knew sign language and was kind enough to let her in and direct her to Whitley's room. Quietly, Azure enters Whitley's room and sees him curled up on his bed, his back to her. Seeing the way his shoulders shook, she knew he was crying. Azure sat on the edge of Whitley's bed and tapped his shoulder. Her heart broke when she saw the sorrowful look on her boyfriend's face...there was no way she was leaving, not until she saw a smile on his beautiful face.
