Brief backstory: Cerena was born in Vacuo as an only child. She always loved her childhood friends but after some got in a fight, they split up leaving her alone, now going to do whatever it takes for it not to happen again. While she grew up, she heard about the Huntsman and Huntresses that protect Remnant. Seeing this as an opportunity to explore the vast world around her and a chance to create some life time memories, she gladly started training with her father's weapon when she's home. In an attempt of protecting their only child of joining the White Fang as a kid, Cerena's parents tried to do the best they could to censor any news about them. Even if it worked in ways, she still found out about the Faunus group, yet doesn't know much anything other than they're to be avoided. She saw a better chance at Beacon to become a Huntress, moving away from Haven academy and Mistral.
