"You two will be okay, right?" Jiyeon asked.
Seokjin turned to Jungkook, who merely smiled at him. "Of course. We're practically best friends now," Jungkook assured.
Jiyeon was leaving, so judging by the look of it, Seokjin had decided to visit on the wrong day. She had already made plans with her friends.
"I'll be back later." She patted her boyfriend on the head gently. "You two have fun. Keep him entertained," she told Jungkook.
And then she left.
Seokjin shifted to the far end of the couch, leaving Jungkook alone. "You know I'm not staying, right?"
Jungkook smiled even bigger at him.
"Then why are you still here?"
"I have to wait," Seokjin argued back. He crossed his arms and avoided looking at Jungkook in any way. "I'll leave when Jiyeon is gone. She isn't even out of the building yet."
True.
Jungkook decided to not tease him any longer. Decided enough would be enough, if Seokjin was going to act like he didn't want to talk to him.
He stood up from the couch.
"Where are you going?" Seokjin was quick to ask, and when Jungkook looked down at him, his eyes were already on him. Such a difficult man.
"I'm going to make a smoothie if you don't mind. Would you like to hold my hand as I do it, or..?"
"No," Seokjin huffed out. But... he stood up and followed. "I want one too. I'll make it."
Jungkook could only watch in awe as the older walked by him and towards the kitchen— but at least he gets out of making the drink now!
He ended up telling Seokjin to make a banana smoothie for him and he did, making it the tastiest thing Jungkook ever had. He'd been craving one and Seokjin did it justice.
Of course he did.
"Thought you weren't staying?" Jungkook asked through a sip of his straw, his eyes staring deep into Seokjin's. Seokjin returned the look as he leaned on the counter.
"Can't now. I've got a free smoothie in my hands." He also sipped the banana drink, savoring it with a few smacks.
Jungkook set his drink down. "Ah, two excuses already. What's your next one gonna be? Don't wanna go out in the storms?" Storms were coming later— the reason that Jiyeon had rushed out the door.
"The only storm I need to avoid is you," Seokjin let out as he also set his drink down, "and I'm not making excuses. I'm genuinely enjoying this free smoothie, Jeon."
He may get a free smoothie, but Jungkook gets the joy of annoying him. It's a win-win.
"Enjoy your drink, mister romantic." He lived for the narrowed eyes he got in response. "What? I just think it's cute, you know, you and Jiyeon."
"Don't—"
"You're both constipated romantics. It's just so cute to watch you fumble."
"We're not fumbling," Seokjin insisted. "Things are going well with us. Better than before, I'd say."
Jungkook took a step forward.
That's all he had to do before Seokjin was straightening his posture and quick to examine his next move, almost like he was waiting for Jungkook. His eyes even fell to his lips.
"You're almost too easy," Jungkook muttered to him, his eyes smiling in response. He couldn't help but feel accomplished. "Look at you, Kim Seokjin. Do you hear yourself?"
Seokjin frowned. "What..?"
"You are fumbling," Jungkook chuckled. "Jiyeon likes someone else, you've kissed me, and I know you don't feel the same way with her, right?" He stepped forward again, Seokjin stumbling backward a bit. "You're fumbling even now."
"I...I'm not. You're saying nonsense now, Jeon."
Jungkook shook his head. "No. I'm just trying to understand why you choose to stay with someone when neither of you like each other."
"But I do like her."
"Are you joking? If you like her then why were you kissing me? Do you do that with all your friends or something? Do you tell everyone that you've never felt like this before?"
Seokjin raised his finger to Jungkook's lips. Jungkook instantly shut his mouth, staring with wide eyes back at him as he was shushed.
"My turn to speak," Seokjin said, and it sent a weird type of feeling through Jungkook's body. Seokjin's hand fell back to his side and he sighed. "You're so annoying. Did you forget that you kissed me first?"
He finally took a step forward, quick as he stepped up to Jungkook and leaned into him, making Jungkook stumble back a bit.
"See? You fumble too, Jeon." He wrapped his hands around Jungkook and forced him to stand still as he got closer. Jungkook gripped hard onto the counter, gulping. "See. You'd fumble just as much if you were me. You're the same."
Jungkook pushed him off, huffing out, "Maybe, but I'd break up with Jiyeon unlike you! You're so ignorant and you're just hurting yourself," as Seokjin furrowed his eyebrows and fell back into the counter behind him.
Seokjin gripped even harder onto the counter than Jungkook had been.
"Well? Am I wrong?" Jungkook asked, though it may be useless. "Or did the kissing mean nothing? Am I reading it wrong or something? If so—"
"You of all people know that I suck at love, Jeon! You saw how I can't even hold hands without getting shy. What the hell makes you think that I'd be unaffected by a pretty boy kissing me out of nowhere?!"
Once, then twice, Jungkook slowly blinked.
Seokjin's voice was hardly raised, but the emotion in his voice was what made Jungkook pause and think.
"I..."
He gulped as he rethought everything from teaching Seokjin to more naturally flirt, to holding hands, and having to deal with the poor man who doesn't know how love works.
He thought about how torn Seokjin was when he sat in Jungkook's room drunk, complaining about how Jiyeon liked some other guy.
How he'd come to Jungkook's apartment with a box of unopened chocolates and beer, a broken look in his eyes— the night Jungkook kissed him. The night Jungkook kissed him and made Seokjin's already fumbled life even worse for no reason at all.
Jungkook's head fell, shamed to have been teasing Seokjin so much despite knowing what was going on.
"I'm sorry."
Seokjin was silent.
"I'm sorry for kissing you. And I'm sorry that Jiyeon did that to you. But..." He looked up into his eyes, but Seokjin didn't return it. "Hyung." Only then did Seokjin look up in a bit of shock. "I'm sorry, I really am, but you can't force love. That's just how it is."
He stepped up to Seokjin with ease and took the older's hand, holding it gently in his— it was warm, the feeling in their palms and in Jungkook's chest.
"Isn't this what you want?"
Seokjin's grip tightened on his palm and he pulled him as close as he could be. "This is what I want." He released Jungkook's hand and cupped his cheeks instead, Jungkook holding his breath as their eyes met.
His eyes fluttered closed and he waited for Seokjin to be the one to choose what he wanted.
He chose fast, the feeling of those soft plump lips back onto his, leaving a few pecks before fully mashing his lips into his, both humming.
Jungkook snaked his hands up Seokjin's back, savoring the accidental half-moan slipping from the older's lips.
His lips parted against Seokjin's as he licked, tasting those perfect lips and shuddering as Seokjin slipped his tongue out as well— the first time they'd gone this far.
Seokjin was hesitant at first, but Jungkook was slow as he swirled his tongue, melting into the taste of banana smoothie— a great choice he'd made.
The sound of their lips smacking and Seokjin's often hums filled Jungkook's ears, such a satisfying sound.
"Where'd you get so good at kissing, Jeon?" Seokjin asked once they pulled away for air. Jungkook chuckled at him.
"I've only kissed a few people. I'm not as experienced as you think. You're just really shy."
Seokjin hummed. "I've kissed a few people, but never like this. Never." His eyes fell back to Jungkook's lips.
The look in his eyes screamed more, but the sudden opening of the apartment door screamed sike!
Seokjin turned away from him and slightly pushed him away, his ears and neck burning red. He was clearly flustered but Jungkook didn't know if it was because of him or because of Jiyeon suddenly opening the door.
She didn't see them.
"Thanks for the smoothie," Seokjin murmured as if Jiyeon could hear him.
"I forgot my umbrella— Ooh, you guys made smoothies?" Maybe she had heard him. Jungkook turned to her and grabbed his cup, putting it to his mouth to hide his reddening lips.
"Mhm. Tastes great." He glanced at Seokjin, pursing his lips into a small smile, though it was a bit forced.
Seokjin nodded at them. "Tasted amazing, actually."
