9. Blow Over

"Perhaps I should take you to see a doctor if you're still feeling Ill?" Francesca said. She is oblivious to the fact that I'm not, I was mourning her brother and the harsh words that he spoke to me. I had been moping around the house like a zombie again, just like when I had that terrible cold.

"Seamus and I are taking Francesco to see the coast tomorrow, come with us, I'm sure the fresh air coming from the sea might do you some good."

"No." I said hastily. Francesca raised a brow towards my rudeness.

I cleared my throat. "I mean, I have work tomorrow. Sophie has me back on the schedule regularly now."

"That's a shame." Fran said, genuinely disappointed. Since the day her brother and I had our clash I had purposely been avoiding her. Not to her knowledge of course. My reasoning is uncertain, nevertheless we rarely hang out anymore. Her brother had agreed to live with Seamus indefinitely and with the band also camping out over there, Francesca spent the majority of her time over there as well. Life was becoming pretty lonely on my side. Apart from work and dinner with my parents, I had nothing, I had no one. I had been lucky to spend some time with Francesca this morning. We had breakfast together, and now she was about to head out for her lecture at the university.

"We have a gig this weekend, maybe you could come to that?"

"I'll try, but with all the school work I've got it might be a bit tight schedule wise." I lied.

"You could bring someone, a date perhaps?"

"A date?" I frown.

"Yes. When was the last time you went on a date?"

I say nothing, although my mind travels to the day I spent with Francesco. Did that count as a date? There was dinner, if you exclude my parents of course.

"There must be someone you like, someone in one of your classes maybe?"

"Nope." I said, popping my lips. Suddenly I see a spark in Francescas eyes and I can read her mind.

"No." I said, vigorously shaking my head in denial.

"Please!" She pleaded almost ready to fall down to my feet. "Please let me set you up. A blind date, I know some people."

"Francesca no."

"Oh please, pretty please." She bends down to kiss the palm of my hand. Her uplifting spirit is hard to abstain from.

"Okay fine." I give in. "But no bikers and no one over thirty-five."

Francesca is seen jumping with excitement. "Deal, trust me I'll set you up nicely."

"I'm sure you will." I sigh, although I'm smiling.

"Ciao, I'll see you later, we must go over other demands, like what qualities you prefer in a guy. I'm so excited for this weekend."

Francesca's joyeuse chatter follows her out the door and I am left with my spirit uplifted and a sense that my fling with Francesco might have blown over.
