"So, you had a dream that you thought was real."

I looked down at Steven, who still sat in my lap. I raised a brow, the small boy jumping up and running to his loft. I awaited his return, not moving in the slightest bit. Before I knew what was happening, I saw him leap off of the side of the loft. I impulsively stood up, ready to catch him.

"Steven! What are you-!"

I embraced him as he fell into me, thudding to the floor, sliding to the kitchen. My head hit hard, my vision going dark for a few seconds, and when I opened them I saw Lion before me. He licked my face, my vision slowly returning, before audibly plopping onto Steven's bed.

"Uughhh."

Steven. I looked down at him, my arms wrapping around his torso even tighter. He groaned again and slowly opened his eyes, looking directly at me.

"That was the worst catch ever, (G/N)."

I sighed and let go of him, rolling onto my back. What was he thinking? That was the dumbest thing a person could do.

"Why didn't you catch me like you usually do?"

I looked back at him, he had sat up and was rubbing the side of his head. He coughed a bit before crawling over to the couch. Lion got up and hung his head over the edge. He looked down at Steven, contemplating something I knew nothing about.

"Do you do that often?"

Without warning, Lion fell off the edge on top of Steven, who kicked his legs wildly. I gasped and ran over, shoving up against the crazy cat. He wouldn't budge.

"Steven, hold on!"

I ran outside, remembering Lars and Sadie. I sprinted all the way to the Big Donut, no time to spare. I rushed over to the counter and grabbed Lars by the shirt collar, and Sadie by the arm. Turning around, Lars screeched as I took off again.

"(G/N) what's this all about!? We have work to do!"

"Sadie, Steven needs your help!"

As we reached the door, I kicked it open, breaking one of the windows in the process. I dropped Lars, who I had shifted to lie atop my shoulder mid-run, and set Sadie down on the coffee table. I wasted no time in ramming all my strength up against Lion's side.

"Lion, get off of Steven!"

Sadie ran over, shoving against the fuzzy pink cat. She climbed over him and started pushing with her legs. I stood back and panicked, Lars sitting up beside me. His eyes went wide as he saw Steven's legs beneath the creature.

"What happened!?"

Suddenly, the warp pad lit up and Garnet rushed to Sadie's aid. The other gems hurried over, Pearl helping Lars to his feet. Amethyst shapeshifted into a large wrestler, shoving the coffee table out of the way.

"Watch out! The Purple Puma's ready to roar!"

Sadie leapt off of Lion, heading straight for Lars. I rushed to catch her, falling backwards into Lars' lap. Amethyst heaved Lion up into the air, with help from Garnet, and tossed him up onto Steven's bed.

"Steven!"

Pearl lifted him up, hugging him, and resting his head against her shoulder. She looked up at me, then to Garnet and Amethyst. She pulled away from Steven, looking him over. There wasnt a scratch on him, but he wasnt moving. Why wasn't he moving?

"What's wrong with my baby? Steven! Steven, come on!"

Garnet took a step back, looking a bit unstable. Amethyst sat wide-eyed, unable to say anything, and Sadie buried her face into my shoulder. Lars wrapped his arms around the both of us and rested his head on top of Sadie's. Steven was still.

With a flash of light, Garnet unfused and a crying Sapphire and fuming Ruby hugged, kneeling on the floor.
