Today was going to be different. You felt it in every fiber of your being, every edge of your gem felt as though it didn't belong in it's place. You felt as though you were going to explode. Today, something would happen, something that would either kill you or simply eat you alive from the inside out. You knew something was wrong.

"Steven, take (G/N) to the lighthouse. She hasn't been there yet," Garnet spoke, tension in her voice. You knew why she wanted you to go to the lighthouse. It was something she had been waiting for the whole time. She had kept Steven from taking you there until that day.

But, Garnet was right, you hadn't been to the lighthouse yet. "Oh! (Y/N)! I forgot to take you there! We need to go now so we don't forget," Steven bubbled. There was that nickname. He hadn't called you that in a while, but you were glad he did. Steven needed to stay out of the way of the upcoming event, and you knew exactly how to handle it.

As you were being drug out the door, Garnet rested her hand on your shoulder and smiled. She looked sad, and obviously knew what was going to happen. It was starting to tear you apart. "Come on!" Obviously, Steven was getting impatient.

The trip to the lighthouse didn't last long, as Steven had you give him a running piggyback ride. You two were laughing the whole way there. It was amazing, it was something you would've most likely ignored on any other day, but today was different. As the two of you reached the lighthouse, Steven flung himself over your head and landed in the dirt on his face, he gave a thumbs up to signify he was alright.

"The best part is the view! So, we should save it for last and go inside first! Onward," the excited boy practically screamed his every word, tugging at your arm once more. As the two of you opened the door, you saw a large pillow fort attached to the back of a couch. The couch was more of a love seat, sat before a large television. There was a spiraling staircase against the wall leading to the lightbulb. To your immediate right, there was a staircase leading down.

This lighthouse was huge. "What's downstairs? Is it spooky," you couldn't help but to ask about the dark room below. Steven scratched his head before looking at you with a hint of weariness. He obviously didn't want to talk about it. "It's fine, if it's that scary, we don't need to mention it." After you spoke, the boy smiled at you and got a running start before throwing himself onto the couch. The pillow fort managed to remain sturdy, so you looked inside.

There was nothing but an empty juice box and more pillows inside. As you started to move, you felt a hand rest on top of your head. You looked up and saw Steven looking at you over the couch. His mouth was rested on it, so you only saw his eyes and forehead. You stood and smiled, joining him on the couch.

"Look! I brought the entire first series of Crying Breakfast friends here! Ronaldo thinks it's okay, but Lars and Sadie don't really like it," Steven jumped up and popped a DVD into the player. You took note of the VHS player beneath it, assuming the three others Steven mentioned came to the lighthouse for movie nights.

The screen suddenly burst with light, sounds of crying coming from the speakers. Time passed, Steven showed you the lightbulb and told you that he's had to help Ronaldo change it more than once. Mayor Dewey didn't care they stayed at the lighthouse, just so long as they changed the bulb and took care of it.

Steven ran down the stairs, taking your hand in his, and opened the door. "I need to show you the view! It's starting to get dark and I don't want you to miss out on the sunset," he spoke with panic in his voice. He was rather passionate about the things he wanted to show people. "Don;t worry, Steven, I'm not going anywhere," you spoke as he took you to the edge. There, he plopped down, looking through the fence posts as you stood. The ocean was beautiful.

"No! The gems," Steven jumped up, running to the hill that lead down to the beach. You turned and grabbed his arm, but he tried his hardest to get away. You had seen it too. Jasper had returned, and she was battling fiercely. There was no way Steven could help them. "Let go! I need to help!"

Tears welled up in your eyes as you lifted him up, running back to the lighthouse. You kicked the door shut as you entered, running down the stairs to your right. Steven buried his head in your shoulder, beginning to cry. "I can't let you help them! You could die," you ran to a corner as you aggressively whispered. Sitting him down, you readied your weapon and hugged him close.

"Garnet doesn't want me to go either. I'm staying here with you."
