Steven sat on the couch again, I was sure to have Garnet and Pearl help me shove Lion out of Steven's room. Sadie and Lars said their goodbyes, walking back to the Big Donut. After all, it was still a work day. I sat with Steven as he lie his head on my lap, drifting into a deep sleep. Before I knew it, enough time had passed to where Sadie came back up to the Temple.

"Hey, (G/N), how's he doing? Just tired?"

I slowly nodded my head, thinking of whether or not I, too, should sleep. Sadie came inside, throwing her sweatshirt onto the coffee table that hadn't been moved back yet.

"Ugh, I'm so tired. May I?"

"Oh, um. Sure?"

Sadie climbed up onto the couch on the other side of me. She sighed contentedly before resting her head on my shoulder. I smiled a little, knowing these two felt safe enough around me to sleep. Sleep is the most vulnerable state one can be in.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps caught my attention. They sounded heavy, but I wasn't sure if they could be a threat. My consciene was telling me that it was Jasper, but another part of me didn't want to believe it.

As I tensed up, shutting my eyes tightly, I heard the voice of Dad Greg. He sounded concerned, but not for anyone specific. It worried me.

"How's my little Stu-ball doin'? I see Sadie's here too."

As I opened my eyes, I saw him there awkwardly holding Steven's ukulele. He scratched his head before propping it up against the wall beneath the painting of Rose.

"Dad Greg, are you alright?"

He stopped and laughed, wiping a tear from his eye. He couldn't seem to stop, vut eventually, he did. Once he was finished, he looked back up at me. That was when it started again. I sat confused, staring at him as he grabbed his sides through the laughter. Nearly forty-five minutes later, he stood and made his way over to me, sitting down next to Steven.

"S-sorry. Just haven't heard that in forever! Remember: just Greg."

I laughed and looked at him, shaking my head. I then looked back to Sadie, who had curled up a bit more. She had become one of the smallest human coccoons I had ever seen. When I looked back at Greg, I saw him looking at the painting.

"Do you miss her?"

Greg sat up straight, quickly turning to me. His eyes widened, his mouth opening just enough to show teeth, and he had tears streaming down his face. It was a sad sight, as he is one of the most happy humans I have met.

"Of course I do! Steven is all I have left of her, and Pearl can't even stand me when I talk about her. And, she was... beautiful. Caring. It was a wonder how she cared so much about us when she could've been in the vast gorgeousness of space!"

Greg emphasized by raising an arm out towards the sky. He slowly brought it down, looking at Steven again. He then looked from Sadie to myself and sighed. Slowly, he slouched again.

"I bet you're tired of hearing me tslk again. It's not like you're a therapist-"

"But humans feel. You also care, and you don't have to fit into one role! You have more possibilities, and are free. That's beautiful, just like Rose."

Greg's eyes had stars in them as he looked back to the painting of Rose. He smiled sadly before getting up and staggering towards the door. He turned back to me before saying, with a large grin on his face.

"I still need to finish Rose's song! Tell Steven I fixed his ukulele!"

With that, he was gone.
