RIDDLE 55

In the court of the great king Krishnadevaraya, a wise minster named Thenali Ram was present. He is well known for his wisdom though he acted like a jester.
The king was fond of him. The other ministers envied him.
One day, the king wanted to prove Thenali Ram's  wisdom to other ministers. He called all of his ministers. And told the following,
" I am conducting a test for you. I will give you gold coins equal to total number of feet you move on ground outside our palace, before today evening."
Immediately, all the minsters rushed to the king's stables within the palace. Some rode on horses, some took elephants and some even rode chariot's. They rushed out of the king's palace riding them to cover as much distance as possible before the evening comes.
But our Thenali Ram went slowly outside the palace. He removed his chappals and started to stroll beneath a tree happily for some time and came back to the king's court.
In the evening, all the other ministers came back. One said that he travelled 12,456 feet, other said 53,089 feet.... and all told their distance travelled in thousands of feet.
The king laughed and gifted our Thenali Ram only 2 gold coins. Nothing was given to others.
All of them were shocked and demanded for explanation.
The king told them to think what he told to them in the morning.
