Chapter 30: Finale

A/N: i'm so bad at editing

Han Bi's POV

Two and a half years since Kim Han-Seok.

Almost three years since I left, huh? It was pretty uneventful. It was just full of me trying to forget all the people from my uncle's school, which I think was something that could help me just move on with life. And guess what? I'm doing better.

"Are you sure you don't need any help with that, beautiful?" He winked at me, looking at the pile of books I'm carrying. My eyes landed at the pile, noticing that its height is almost towering my head.

I need to bring these to my dorm for an all-nighter because of an essay due tomorrow, while Sunghoon is just standing here flirting with me. He has a crush on me since I came back to Seoul.

"I'm sure. We have tons of homework to do. You can go on with that, thanks for caring for me." I politely said and headed my way towards the library's exit.

He ran after me and block my view. "Can I at least escort you to your dorm?" He asked. I heaved a sigh.

"Okay. You can carry half of what I'm carrying." I said and he happily got four of what I'm carrying.

"Wow, Han Bi. These are really heavy books. I don't think I can bring all of them and even walk to the library's exit! You must be so strong." He complimented.

"Really? Uh.. thanks." I said and we started walking to my dorm and got into the elevator. I unlocked the door of my room and he followed me inside then we put the book we're carrying on table. I stretched my arms.

"Thanks Sunghoon. I guess I need to wait for Jisun until she comes home." I said. "Jisun, your roommate? She went to the party, right? You were invited, but why didn't you come?" He asked in confusion.

"Nah, I'm not a party person. Besides, family rules."

"Shouldn't rules be broken once in a while? Wouldn't it be healthy if a 19 year old like you try being rebellious? Like... why do we always need to follow everything if we can change that?" He walked towards me slowly and the aura in his eyes turn dark.

I gulped internally. Why is this so scary? This must be a sick joke.

"I-I-- don't know... Maybe? Not in that case. So, Sunghoon. I... think you need to go now." I stuttered and pushed him out the door, before I closed it, he told me something I couldn't forget.

"Why can't you be mine, Han Bi? I remember, you told me that the last time you fell in love ended tragically.. and you don't remember the guy's name." He suddenly said with a pout, his eyes on the ground.

Right, I don't remember that guy's name.

It was this guy from my uncle's school. I think I remember what he looks like, but I just can't remember his name.

I think I was pretty stupid before.. falling in love like that, I mean. I only met that guy for months.

I gave him a simple smile. "It did, Sunghoon. You know that. It wasn't as tragic since I knew that person loved me back, but it made me shed so much tears. I just.. find it difficult falling in love again. But sometime I can consider it soon."

He looked at me in surprise. "What? Really?! Wow, I still have a chance, don't I?" He said and started celebrating in a silly manner.

What a goofy guy.

I want to start on my homework but Jisun texted and told me to meet her at the school's cafe. My eyebrows furrowed and quickly made my way out.

I made a small run to the cafe. Most of the seats where occupied by noisy students. After roaming my head around, I saw Jisun sitting on an isolated table from afar. She looks upset, pouting like a kid.

I heaved a sigh and walked to her place. "Jisun.. How are you? How was the party? Are you okay?" I asked, she shook her head.

"The party was fine. Someone complained that our dorm is really noisy." She informed.

"O..kay?" I muttered. What's the big deal anyway?

"Okay so basically they blamed all the females since they're all together. The authority are now making opposite genders share the same rooms." She explained.

My eyes widened.

"What? No way!" I exclaimed. I then had a sudden, stupid idea pop in my head right after. "If that happens too soon, then we need to do something. Do you have a notebook and a pen with you?" I asked.

She nodded and then gave me what I needed. I ripped a page from the notebook and wrote these words, How to be a good roommate and be Han Bi's friend. (This is a private checklist x3).

To be Han Bi's friend you should

[ ] not be too quiet nor too noisy
[ ] not be a pervert
[ ] be able to respect privacy
[ ] know how to understand people's emotions
[ ] easy to talk to and hang out with
[ ] be decent and doesn't bring women to the dorm to "play board games" (If you know what I mean)
[ ] not be a jerk, arrogant, conceited

My eyes widen when Jisun added another thing. "Erase that!" I commanded. She shrugged with a smirk.

"It's written in pen, and I don't have whiteout." She said. Is she for real?

I sighed and stared at the ninth thing she added in the checklist, the last one. Actually, it's not that bad.. if you want to be friends. It's fair enough, actually.

[ ] Not fall in love with Han Bi. Not have Han Bi fall for him either.

~

I woke up to see a sticky note placed on the tip of my nose. I was very cranky and groggy. I removed it and read it carefully. As I read the words, it made me sit up in a second.

I then realized that Jisun legitimately left this morning.

'I'm leaving. New roommates today, we could talk later.
- Jisun'

She was nowhere in her room when I checked.

I can't believe I will have a new roommate, I'm not good with guys.

Wait, not only do I have a new roommate, I also have class at 9:30 too. Dammit, I need to dress up and prepare myself.

I got out of the shower in ten minutes, and that's when I heard a knock from the door. That knock sent me jolts.

My head peeked from the outside the bathroom with a towel wrapping my wet hair and my body covered in a towel.

My heart is racing, is this my new roommate?

The person knocked the second time harder, getting more impatient. I quickly ran to the closet and threw anything on and combed my hair. The person keeps knocking impatienty.

I ran to the door and opened it, doing a very formal bow.

"Annyeonghaseyo, I'm Kwon Han Bi. Nice to mee--"

"Don't act like it's nice meeting someone who takes so much time opening the door. Seriously lady, what have you been doing? It's so irritating." The guy harshly said.

"You ladies take too much time in everything, even in opening the door. That's why I hate women." He continued.

My position is still bowing when he entered rudely with his luggage. was still shocked at the guy's unexpected attitude. I then slapped my cheeks and looked at him.

He's tall, his back looks nice, but his attitude just makes me upset. I immediately looked at the checklist Jisun and I yesterday at the refrigerator and quickly snatched it from there.

I just stood and stared at the checklist.

I don't think any of these will be ticked, except for the last one.

Of course I wouldn't fall for anyone like him. He's too mean, and I know it even if he hasn't even talked to me that much. I just know it.

I gathered up the courage to talk to him and look at him in the eye again. I gave him an extremely fake smile. I just had to, I want him to feel comfortable with me and become friends.

"Uh.. Can I have your name, perhaps?" I asked politely. He slowly faced me. He's masculine, he's skinny.

He has brown hair, brown eyes and is really good looking. I don't know but he caught me staring.

"Don't gawk at me lady. I know it's your first time seeing someone as good-looking as me. It's too obvious. Ugh, ladies, they're too distracting." He cotinued.

Do I really have to live with this guy?

"I want to go to class. Kim Taewoo by the way." He said and went past me, his shoulder bumping into mine. It seems like it was on purpose.

I grabbed my bag and went outside to catch up with him, closing the door. It will be nice going to class together right? I need to make effort to be friends with him too.

~

"E-Eherm, you look good in these types of hats." Hanna said as she place a purple flowery hat she bought earlier on top of my head. She stopped and examined my look.

"Ahh, you're so pretty. No wonder Sunghoon is head-over-heels for you." She complimented, making me almost choke on my saliva. I just cleared my throat.

She gave me a sad look and slowly removed the hat from my head. "Why are you being harsh to yourself, huh Han Bi? It's not healthy not being in love for two years." She said in a defeated tone.

"Come on, don't bring that up."

"Of course I will, Han Bi. I've been your best friend for almost three years and even if it isn't that long, I still have the right to talk to you about this. Sunghoon is a really good person, and I believe you're very lucky.. but why don't you give it a go?"

I was silenced. It's true.

"This just means one thing, you're in love with someone. Not with someone from today, but someone from the past." She said. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"What do you mean? I know no one from the past anymore." I said. She immediately shook her head.

"Don't be stupid, Han Bi. It's impossible that you've literally forgotten everything about Kim Han-Seok High School." She said.

"I don't remember anything. Stop making me try to remember everything about that school Hanna. We both know about the heartbreaks and torture I got from that school right?" I asked.

She heaved a sigh. "Soojin and Ye-eun? Not ringing a bell?"

I shook my head. Who are these people?

I know what I remember.. a very pretty friend of mine who always has her hair up in a bun and a guy who looks like a female and is prettier than any human I know.

"Who are they?"

"It really hasn't been long since you've last seen them, Han Bi, don't act so different. How about Kim Seokjin?" She then asked.

I quickly shrugged my shoulders, "Nope."

"Did you have amnesia or something?" Jisun asked and laughed.

"You fell for him." Hanna said, smiling

I simply shrug my shoulders.

I then saw Taewoo walk from one table to my table with a cross look in his face. "I'm changing rooms, I don't like you." He said and walked away like he didn't talk like that to me.

WAIT, WHAT?!

I stood up and followed him. "No no no no, Taewoo-ssi. Are you serious? You're being so rude. You can't just change rooms like that!"

"I don't like you, so I'm transferring. Why is that a problem with you, Miss Kwon Han Bi? Don't tell me that you fell in love with me that's why you're not letting me go."

I gave him a stern look.

"You know what, I don't care. I'm just glad I have a new roommate once I come home. You think so high of yourself and really rude." I commented and went back to my table. This is tough.

"What happened?" Jisun asked. "Nothing. I'm just happy now, I'm having a better roommate." I smiled at myself.

I started dozing off until a certain someone shows up in my mind.

What came up in my mind is a guy with dark brown messy hair, taller than me somewhere near 15 centimeters because he's just freaking tall, and a smile that can kill thousands of women, excluding me.

"By the way, you don't need to force yourself to forget him, you know? I'm sure you remember him." Hanna suddenly said.

Jisun's face then lit up. "Oh wait, if Taewoo just kicked himself out of your room, then you're going to have a new roommate! Who could he be?"

I don't get it.. so what?

~

I heard my cellphone ring. I picked it up and heard Jisun's voice from the other? line saying this, (HAN BI HOW WAS YOUR ROOMMATE?)

I looked at the time, it's 7:00 pm. "I have no roommate until now. Shouldn't he be here at 5:30 today? I don't know, how are you?" I casually asked doing my assignment.

(Listen Han Bi, he's not there because he's in the school's garden!) She panicked. I heard another voice from the background, which I'm guessing is Hanna's for some reason.

(Hanna here. Oh my God! You don't understand! Han Bi, go there now!! He'll meet you!) She urgently said.

"What? Why does it need to be special anyway?" I suspiciously asked.

All they said was: (GO THERE NOW!!)

I don't know what else to do but I followed, bringing my phone with me and not ending the call.

"Where exactly do you mean by 'go there'? I mean it's the school garden but it's not so clear." I stated, hearing unclear words of Jisun and Hanna talking from the other line.

(Just stay where you are and he'll appear.) Hanna said, followed by Jisun saying something unclear at the background.

"Okay.." I send, slowly putting down the phone, but still not ending the call. Neither of them wants to hang up too and curious of everything.

"Why is it so special, huh? It's just a roommate, a new one. No big dealio." I said, looking around.

(He's a God, Han Bi! You're going to meet one!) Jisun shouted over the phone. I'm confused. They're creeping me out, it seems like I'm going to meet a demon instead.

It's 7:00 pm and I can hear the crickets loud and clear. I'm alone here.

"Who is it?" I asked.

(Just.. meet him.) Hanna said and they suddenly ended the call. My courage dropped unknowingly. I'm scared of being alone here.

Until I heard footsteps.

Third person's POV

Han Bi was afraid, staying frozen on the spot. She can't see anyone in sight until she heard something coming her way. Warm hands landed on her shoulder, making her jolt in surprise then looked at the person.

It's just Sunghoon, she thought. Thoughts crowded her head when he saw him.

It's beginning to be a little bit awkward seeing him, because she thought that this guy wanted her badly now. It was really cute at first but things change.

"Hey, sorry for looking desperate in front of you yesterday.." He said as he removed eye contact. Her heart softened.

"It's nothing, don't worry about it. You know actually, I thought.. that maybe I can consider your feelings towards me." Han Bi bashfully said looking at the ground. "Not only that, but my feelings too." She continued.

Sunghoon was surprised, and happy. "Really?!" He gave Han Bi a very tight hug. She smiled and hugged back a little.

This won't be too bad, she thought, not bad enough for me to regret in the future.

Han Bi was happy too, not only Sunghoon. After all, she likes his attitude and him as a whole. The scene was interrupted when Sunghoon got a message fom his phone.

"It's Jisun. I think I need to go back to our dorm room, thank you very much." He said and went off. It was a very short conversation but it made him happy. Han Bi's phone beeped. She looked at it, there was a new message.

'Sorry, I won't let anyone get on your way.' - Jisun

Han Bi was baffled for a moment until she realised that Jisun might've texted Sunghoon to get away from me and meet this mysterious guy. She heard someone from the back.

"Ah, excuse me. Do you know where room 3—" guy paused for a moment when his eyes landed on Han Bi's face.

"Hm?" Han Bi asked innocent. The guy was holding his luggage, and he's wearing his backpack. "I mean, where's 303? There's this girl named Jisun who I bumped into can't help me and said a girl here can help me, which I'm guessing is you." The guy said.

Han Bi examined the guy. He's familiar, his voice sounds familiar. He looks like every girl's dream guy. He looks like someone she has met before.

She smiled and said, "I'm Kwon Han Bi, I'm guessing you're my roommate. It's my room." She said followed by a nod coming from a guy.

"Yeah, they did said I'm moving in with you." He replied. "Uh, what's your name?" Han Bi asked, unknowingly dying to know the answer. She might remember, but she might not.

The guy grinned. "J.S is my name."

Han Bi was left puzzled. J.S? Who in Korea will have a name like that?

"J.S indeed, let's go." She said, guiding him to the elevator, and to their room.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Kwon Han Bi?" J.S asked so suddenly.

"Why? No. How about you, a girlfriend?" She kept her surprised state in, for maybe he was just trying to know her better. It was true, she had no one. Yet still, it's a weird question.

"Nope." He said. When they got to the room's door, J.S casually got in. It was awkard.

He then held Han Bi's hand, making her face him. She looked at him, then their hands which were holding onto each other. "You don't remember anything about me, do you?" He asked.

Han Bi slowly shook her head. "We met today."

He shook his head, and sat on the couch casually. "You look like someone I know." He smiled as he looked at the ceiling.

"Huh? Who?" Han Bi asked out of curiosity. He shrugged.

"She's someone I fell in love with," He said, making her completely look at his direction.

"Someone who wears awfully made pigtails, someone who looked better with those fake glasses, someone with no fashion sense, someone who's vulnerable." He continues.

Han Bi bit her lip, seeing the checklist in front of her, staring at the last thing written. In order for them to be friends, they both need to not fall.

"I don't know her." Han Bi said, her voice ice cold. He stood up, walking to her direction, he stopped right in front of her. He leaned closer, little by little cornering Han Bi who started clutching her checklist.

"Um uh, do you still love her? The girl you're talking about?" Han Bi asked, trembling a little.

"Feelings come and go Han Bi. Nothing stays forever. But do you know? All this while I thought I was still there, in love with you." He confessed.

"You're one of the greatest things that happened to me, but feelings just faded, you know, things change." He continued, making her heartbeat faster.

"Kim Seokjin.. that wasn't what you told me before." She muttered in a low voice.

She knew she didn't forget him.

"I-I tried my best to forget you but I can't. I promised to myself to forget everything that had happened but I'm ending up forcing myself to." She confessed as well, thinking about uncle Han-Seok's school and her reasons of leaving.

He grinned and ruffled her hair. "Idiot, why will you try to?" He says.

"I thought it would be better for me."

"Well, everything's better now right? Do you want to start over? Putting everything behind us?" He asked. "Of course." She replied with no hesitations.

"Friends it is then." He winked and went over to fix his things.

"Do you need help?" Han Bi slowly walked to him and asked.

"Nah, I'm fine." He said. Han Bi nodded and went off. "Han Bi?" He called.

"Yes?"

"I missed you lot when you left that school." Seokjin confesses.

Han Bi grinned, "I did too." She said as well, and went off to bringing him to his room.

Friends, huh?

Things always start that way.
