Batmanga Review

Hey everyone so i am back with a another manga review, well i don’t do much good for my other reviews, this review i find very special to me as it’s not only of my favorite DC hero but based on my favorite verations from the 60s you already know who i am talking about, *Stop Music* like the title is obvious so let’s get into batmanga. I am also gonna talk about a little history of my batman experiences which made me want to read this manga series.

So let’s get one with the history.

(History Of Batmanga)

So back in 1966, The Batman Tv series starring Adem West, started a batman craze in japan, the reposses to this, that shonen magazine and it’s publisher got licensed the rights to make there own stories of batman and gaining full consent to the original publisher of batman DC comics, but in 1967 the stories were stopped and never made into volume format.

However, David Mazzuchelli, creator of Batman: Year One, became aware of "Batman" manga's existence when he had went to Japan for a cartoonists convention in the early 1990s

He was told of the adoption of Batman, this he passed on to a good friend of his premiere designer and novelist chip kidd, if you want to known more on the background i’ll put a link to the wikipedia page so you can read more, but basically they were able to resurface it and make the volumes for it, and so the batmaga was made by Jiro Kuwata you might know him for 8 men or phantom deticvice, maybe you might not but does are some works he did also.

And so October 28, 2013, the entire 53 chapter run of the series was released in Japan as a three volume-box set. And for me I have the 3 translated volumes to english of the manga.

(My Thoughts on Reading Batmanaga)

So What are my thoughts of the manga, it is very creative i have to say, I liked the Illustration and mostly my favorite design was robin’s because i like robin and he needs loving, mostly he is just so cute and chibi!, yes i am going that far!

Overall I liked how they created new villains instead of The Classic Villains we all know in love to get a creative flare from the Original, and there were a ton of great stories in the manga that these villains played a role in.  like lord death man is seemly the most popular i think you could say he is the japanese version of The Joker of the manga.

Like he was not only in the batmanaga but was brought back to “Life” in Batman66 Comic and Including that segment in Bat mite’s episode in Batman: The Brave and The Bold, where he is going over an animated scene from volume 1 in the manga of Lord Death man. Like i mean i hate bat mites guts because he is annoying but hey gots some good moments to the caped crusaders

More Notable Characters who were not manga original was Clayface, all that really was changed was a classic criminal gaining temporary powers, and then there was Catwoman but it was a He called Catman but it was obvious he was based off of catwoman.

And one of the most common part of the series was that there was a lot professors becoming Villains and i think that kind of lactated a bit, but either way it was pretty neat for an manga adaptation, like i mean if robin gets the drive the batmobile more often than his 1966 American original counterpart then OK then, no offence bart.

Some of the parts in the manga were colored but not all of the pages, and it had numbers on the side to help the reader keep track of where they were going. I do recommend it for first readers who are new to manga to read first.

(What Got me into the Manga)

So What had Gotten me into the Manga, was obviously what started the batman craze the 1966 Batman Tv Series, now you seen i’ve been a big fan of batman sense i was young who wasn’t growing up with batman, captain america, superman, wonder woman you name it, Marvel and DC i like both, i am in the between!.

And so what how i found out about it, is that i was scrolling through google images of batman apparently one night because i couldn’t fall asleep and BOOM it was there, still i didn’t know if was real because everything can be fake but i found it was real, and i think about 2018 i was still in middle school at the time and asked my dad if he would help me get….etc he did as long as i enjoyed it and i did enjoyed.

I Really loved the 1966 batman, i grew up with it and it’s my favotive batman, though i seem to be the only one of my age that likes the 1966 batman, i am 16 years old as a matter of fact at the time of this, so yah i am that young but i bet there are others out there who enjoy a lot of classic from their parents and grandparents time, so yah.

(Do I Recommend it?)

I Definitely Recommend reading this book, there are a lot of fun and interesting stories in these volumes and they are well done, and i honestly wished it had its own anime, like the segment in the Batman: The Brave and The Bold was great in all intrems of comedy and so on.

But seeing a full series of this would be incredible and i definitely would sit down and watch it for sure. And i mean they could adapt all of the stories but seeing anime only episodes would be fine too

(My favorites in the Manga)

Now i want to share some key stories in this manga that are very good my favorite stories in Volume 1, Was Lord Death Man, The Human Ball, Go-Go Magician, The man who quit being human, and i Guess Revenge of Professor Gorilla, and i like Doctor Faceless but i have to got mittler here i want to talk about the most.

In  Volume 2, my favorites were The Revenge of Clayface, The Hangman of Terror was a good one, Mystery of the Outsider was a good one because Alfred was in it.
And then you got the Monster of Gore Bay which was a i think the most funny one because robin was being love sick and and getting beat up by a girl, and it also reminds me that i’ve heard there was supposed to be a Movie of Batman 1966 Vs Godzilla, though this is just a rumor but i could be good, minis what they say batgirl being a Damsel in distress, i could go one all day one why i don’t like that part of her character in the series. Especially when it’s about the Green Hornet, OH GOD EPISODE 51 & 52 of SEASON 2 what have you done!, no wonder watch mojo puts you in the #5 for worst crossovers, at least kevin smith and others fixed it in the comics.

And anyways this wraps it up, i hope you enjoyed my little review, anyways see you around.
