I nod, I was curious to know what sort of girl Mark had decided to marry. I was surprised when I met her, as it was like meeting Karen all over again, except that she looked a bit different, she could have been Karen's sister with how close they looked.

"Nice to meet you " I smile "You remind me of my wife."

"Really?" She lilted "Will I get to meet her?"

"It's very unlikely " I say and walk away as one of my children started crying.

I was playing with my children when Mark came over to me.

"How do you like my fiancé Tracey?" Mark asked

"She's like Karen " I answer

"Karen?" Looking at me blankly

"Yes Karen, your girlfriend you dumped 3 years ago. You could have at least picked a girl to marry who was different from the only decent girlfriend you had...It makes me question if you even knew what you had or whether subconsciously you did after you dumped her and went looking for the same type of girl. "

"That's not true" Mark objected.

It deteriorated into a argument from there until Rose came over.

"What are you two arguing about?" She asked "You're disturbing everyone here."

"We are arguing about how his current fiancé is similar to Karen his ex girlfriend. He does not believe me." I say.

Rose, having met and talked with us both, said "Matthew is right, she is almost exactly like Karen."

Mark had to go sit down and rethink what he was doing. It was then he realised that he subconsciously still loved my wife and rang her, as he had kept her number despite not ever calling her.

Karen's view

My phone rang with a number I didn't recognise. As it was a mobile number, I answered. To my surprise it was Mark

"Hi Karen, it's Mark. "

"Hi Mark, how are you?" I ask politely, my emotions in turmoil.

"Good thanks, how are you?" He asks

"I'm good thanks. I'm surprised that you still have my number though."

"I couldn't bring myself to delete it." He said.

"Oh" I say

"Karen? Is there any chance of us getting back together?"

"No, why are you asking this now?"

"My brother made me realise that I still loved you."

"I am sorry Mark but we are over, there isn't any going back now. I'm married now. I have 2 beautiful children and another on the way. My husband doesn't know that yet as I just found out."

"When did you marry?" He asked

"December the same year you dumped me."

"You got over me so soon?"

"No, you pretty much screwed up my trust issues "

"Then why?"

"Because he pretty much married me in order to go out with me. I am glad he did, he is the best husband ever. " I say

"Oh I am sorry Karen. I was a fool for letting you go. " Mark said.

"That's too little way too late Mark." I say. I had enough talking to him.

"I have to go now Mark." I say.

"Can I talk with you again?" He asks

"I didn't end the relationship, you did." I say "So you're welcome to call again but I will only be your friend now."

"Fair enough. Well take care Karen" he said.

"Bye Mark" I say and hang up.
I thought about the weirdness of the conversation and wondered what possessed him to call me. So, I rang Matthew.
